The color of Lake Bled is such a gorgeous teal. I'm grateful for your stunning drone shots, but I don't blame you for moving along down the road. I've always tried to avoid crowds too. A simple hike along a woodland stream is far more pleasurable. I can no longer do even that, so am so glad to be able to walk along with you. Curt's more adventurous hike brought him to truly mystical landscapes. Enduring all the frustrations of a unpredictable day really paid off. I may need to watch this again to be sure I've gotten to appreciate every scenic view. Thanks for all the work you do in bringing us these visual treats. ❤

We loved Lake Bled. We returned there a second time as the first time it was raining. We avoided the shopping/restaurant area.

I was there two years ago in mid September (ending of high season) and I felt really large driving there with my van… I parked my van in the city center parking lot and was glad by the time I left most cars were gone because otherwise I would have had a difficult time leaving… I slept that night at the McDonald’s parking lot nearby bled and woke up very early to drive to the lake again to park at the Olympic center because parking was free until 8h and I had a reservation for the gorge at 8h. I was mostly alone at the lake and was the second visitor of the gorge… by the time I left the gorge and finished my hike cars were queuing to get on the parking lot ! Insane! After that I drove to bohinji lake and parked at the wooden bridge and walked 40 min to the lake. But what I heard is you beter avoid the really touristic areas in Slovenia in July and august… I would also recommend to visit Maribor. I found it a very cozy town with nice little cafes.

My grandfather grew up in Lake Bled area. He escaped over the Alps to come to America when he was a teenager, escaping being drafted in to the army by Emperor Franz Joseph.

My you tube suddenly said it 'stopped'. That was yesterday. I am technically illiterate but this morning I woke and I knew what to do. Miracles happen. Love Slovenia. Love how you handle change. We took prefer the less touristy but Bled is something special if you go there at the right time. We were there October last year. We camped a few miles out of town, cycled around the lake, hiked to a brilliant viewpoint high up over the lake. Beautiful and reasonably quiet.

The beautiful flowering plants along the trail to the gorge appear to be Campanula ( purple ), Wild Carrot ( white ). I think the yellow flowers are Geums ( no common name )

Loving your quick pivoting and finding the roads less traveled. I love it that you're staying away from the more touristy places. That's exactly what I'd do on a road trip. When I was in my 20s I had a girlfrend who loved road trips as much as me. On long weekend getaways or vacations we'd hop in the car with no real destination. The only conscious choice we'd make was "beach or higlands". Once that was settled, we'd just chose "left" or "right" on the fly at each road intersection, not particularly caring for where that would take us. We'd travel several hundred kilometers in each of those adventures, so we got to know a lot of different places. It was as fun as it gets. Some 40 years went by. Nice memories.

Those rocks are ankle breakers!!! Any snakes or wild animals in that area? So pretty in the forest! I know you like the shoes you wear but I’m 59 disabled with some of the same health issues as Snow and with a lot of trial on buying different walking/hiking shoes I found Hokas help with everything from back pain to my breathing and heat issues because of less stress on my feet.

I live near Bled and have lived in Bled for 25 years. Maybe just some advice about the camper van. There is a large parking lot for your car only and it is 5 minutes away from the lake. Maybe you could inquire at a travel agency or maybe use google a bit. Sometimes you just have to put in a little effort and make an effort to see the beauty of Slovenia

We are at Bled right now… it’s fairly quiet, there’s night fishing with giant catches….luckily we have nothing to park ( got the bus ) Looks like you visited at peak holiday time for Europe.schools are all back by September

Every time I hear G-Mo meow in your vids, it sounds just like my sweet boy, & I have to remind myself he’s no longer here.😔 I still love watching your vlogs, & I do love seeing your furbabies though. Smart….. I’m with you. 💯 ….not worth the frustration but thank you for the drone footage. What are the regs for doing that? What were those white dots in the lake? Pretty cool area for a variety of reasons. The bees in the area are famous for being the most gentle to work with in the world! Do not miss Millstatt Austria. Though the lake is vaccation spot few hike to the water fall & the old cobblestone town is lovely walk through. Most tourists go to lake campgrounds so just stay out of direct lake area except to do old town walk through & there is are taxi vans that go all around to all the small villages that you can take instead of using your fuel & see all around in the mountains surrounding lake. A u.s. church owns a historical castle/chatue confrance center there with a nice coffee & snack food place that you can go to. Check it out they may even let you park there if a confrance is not there & one trail to falls is behind castle.

Lake Bled was pretty from the air and I appreciate that you did that, but I'm with you on moving on to areas less traveled and more adventurous! The areas you drive through were delightful, but it was sad that they didn't have road signs to warm you of road work ahead. Also sad the farmers on tractors don't have common sense enough to yield before pulling out in front of oncoming traffic!😳 Curt had some real challenges on his leg if the hike! Glad you didn't risk it Snow!

As someone who has spent time in 39 countries in the last 9 years, I can say one thing for sure. NOBODY enjoys crowded places with tons of people. Duh! People visit those places in spite of, not because of, the crowds. I rented a rowboat at Lake Bled, and rowed out to the island. Fun experience. So, is it overrated? No.

How did you make your intro? Love your videos!!! Back in April I bought an older Chevy Express hightop and built it out not as luxurious as yours but I love it. I did a video tour but again not as professional as yours but I’m trying hard to figure things out. Any advice for a newly? I will be alone and wanting to leave mid-August and going North to South Dakota then West to MT and Canada. I just really want to have an intro. Love you guys! ~ Elaine

Yes it is very beautiful. Only time I got out of this country and in another was when my daughter was in high school band. They were invited to the millinum in Austria to preform and I got to go along.

please be advised that it is illegal to keep your pets in the car with them being secured in austria (and i guess in more european countries as well) in case the police stops you it can become expensive, up to 10000 euro. (same goes for any items in your van that could go flying in case of an accident)

Are those moorings in Lake Bled? For such a small lake it looks like they just cram em in there! 😂 Probably a good decision to have moved on and avoided that whole circus.
