OMG, so glad I found this video, I literally tried everything to get my Dyson to work again, I finally gave up and was about to purchase a new head when I stumbled on this video, I decided to give it a try, so like the above comment I had to head out to Home Depot to purchase a T8 screwdriver (never heard of a T8 screwdriver until this video) came home took it apart just like you showed and wallah there it was a huge ball of hair wrapped around the spindle, after excitedly removing it and put it back together I squeezed the trigger and what a joy to see my brush spin again, my wife laughed at me too see my glee over a vacuum cleaner, lol, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO, I learned something new today, what a joy, Thanks again, take care.

Thank you so, so much. I was literally looking online for a replacement motor head when I stumbled upon your video. I spent an hour taking the whole head apart trying to fathom why the motor wouldn't turn. I didn't realise the black spiral bit came off. Lo and behold when I took it off there was a HUGE chunk of burnt hair. Pulled it out and I now have a nicely working Dyson again. I can't thank you enough, you literally saved me £59 for a replacement head. The Dyson help page said I needed a new part. Such a quick and easy fix, literally took me 3 minutes. Bless you.

Thank you so so much for this video. My Dyson had this exact same problem & Dyson wanted £60 for a new motorhead as it was a few months out of warranty. I’m not a practical person at all & really rubbish at this kind of thing but I followed your instructions & sure enough, a big clump of burned hair stuck inside. Removed it & now it works a treat! Thank you so much, saved me 60 quid!

Just fixed by DYSON V6 by following this demo, just cost me the price of a T8 screwdriver, thrilled. The only tip I could add is because I couldn't get the spindle off, I wrapped it in a thin piece of rubber and jiggled it and pulled it off gently with a pair of pliers. Thanks for solving my issue, hair behind spindle, works a treat now !

Was I pleased or was I pleased when I checked on RU-vid and found your video! I had cleaned every part of the head of my Dyson V6, all to no avail I might add and could not understand why the brush had stopped spinning! Being a lady in her early 40’s and forever having to pay out money when electrical items go wrong I really didn’t want to have to take the vacuum cleaner to a Dyson service centre knowing only too well the huge bill I was likely to receive from them. I followed your super informative video and found a ball of hair exactly where you explained the problem would likely be. The way you explained each part of the repair was excellent, well done I now have my V6 up and running smoothly again 😀 I knew the screwdrivers and pliers would come in handy one day!! 😂

My main issue was dirt in the handheld dirt container that wasn't dumped from container & another video offered the easy fix for that. While cleaning, I might as well checkout the floor action accessory even though it works 100%. Thank you for your helpful video. Tools required are so easy! Spoon, flathead & phillips head screwdrivers are in every house, I'd think.

Great video. I used pliers to remove the rotating part because I was worried about there being a belt behind it. However the belt is still hidden so if you’re struggling to remove it, you’re fairly safe jamming a flathead screwdriver in and prizing it out. So much hair jammed down there, thin pliers are actually very useful for pulling the hair out too. Thanks for posting this.

Hi there, I just want to say THANK YOU!! You've just saved us £60 for a replacement head from Dyson. When I explained the problem to them, their only comment was to say that we needed to replace the head (after only 2 years). I couldn't bring myself to buy the replacement as it seemed ridiculous that it could have 'broken' after such a short space of time - and guess what? After watching your video, I did exactly what you said, and you were totally right - the only problem was a bunch of hairs! I feel so empowered now and will definitely try to fix anything first before I replace items in the future! xxx

I followed your instructions, removed the 'drive' and found a tightly-wound knot of hair (mine!) around the little spindle inside. Thank you Mark ! After doing your procedure we still had a problem - as after a few seconds and the roller would not revolve. So we revisted the spindle again and realised that hairs had sort of fused themselves there ! It wasnt plastic, it wasn't paint - it was an insulator of what looked like hair. We scraped it off carefully and tried again. Same thing - after a few seconds it stopped. Thinking that I had failed, I just carried on to do the vacumming - but lo and behold, the roller suddenly started whizzing round and obviously all working. Just saying that something must have caked in the insides and it needed a bit of my pushing along the floor to clear it completely. Fabulous video. Really helpful, as I didn't know whether to remove all the T8's and try to resolve the non working roller by trying to work out what was happening inside the head and I know you are not meant to - but you saved me heartache and worry. Thanks If ever you feel inclined, you could always do a video about getting into the spindle side (which I understand you are not meant to) but I would be interested to see what gives! Again, thanks.

I was googling to buy a new head and saw your video. Magically, it worked for me too. Thanks a lot man!
