The adaptive exhaust is honestly such a great feature, at least as someone who lives in an apartment complex. Feel much better starting up to drive to work when it’s in quiet start!
Been convertible shopping with my 81 year old mom and we landed a 2021 with 30k miles as her last car. I had no idea this car had performance in disguise. I figured a nice 4 banger good on gas perfect. She told me the noises it was making and it was pretty fast and had no idea. Normal mode only Mom!
Good question. I really enjoy the performance and handle. The mirrors on the orange Mustang has BLIS which is really convenient, however the blue Mustang does not. As long as the mirrors remain clean (and not foggy) its pretty easy to check the blind spots. Overall, I think the s550 Mustangs were a good design. Curious to see how the S650 turn out.
Thank you so much for the detailed description! I’m test driving one tomorrow and needed a fast explanation on the different modes so I could check the Magneride and Active Exhaust were both operating correctly. You’ve got a new follower!
I sincerely hope that your channel explodes. Your videos are so well constructed and explained. You've brought simplicity without complicating the details, together with brilliant editing. Hard to find these types of videos. You've earned my sub man, I love your videos.
Wow this is an amazing video! Very detailed. I have a 2019 GT PP1, manual, without active suspension, so I was interested to see the differences those modes made with the other options. The throttle is also affected by the different modes. Snow mode makes the throttle feel dead in comparison to say Track where throttle response is sharp and immediate. I use snow mode a lot because I get 1-4 mpg better depending on conditions. The computer pulls power and timing in snow mode.
@@mcgurrentertainment I didn't either, saw it on another RU-vid video. I figured it was free and worth a try. It actually helps the most around town, the highway not as much difference. I went from 19 to 21 average with mixed driving.
@@joyceofdriving4954 lol I’m in sales and easily drive mine over 100 miles a day most days and mine isn’t stock so it gets even worse gas mileage but okay buddy. 😂
Most everyone already know's this, but hold your foot on the Brake and Trac Control button for 7 seconds and she's unlocked ready to go, just make sure yr steering is in sport.. That takes all the advance trac off and the car is supposed to be at full power from there..
The orange color looks really good on that Mustang in my opinion. I have a navy blue Ecoboost and it’s really fun to drive even in the regular driving mode.
I noticed in normal mode, even cruising at city speed of 40mph, the rpm is around 1300. In s+, 2000 rpm it will stay at if you are not driving aggressively. Reason probably to save gas on normal mode. S+ mode, the transmission stays at 2000 rpm so it can change gear faster. I haven't try anything yet beyond the first two modes.
There is an additional "mode" which I discovered. Change the mode to 'Snow/Wet' while you are in D(Drive) and then pull the shifter into S(Sport). You can now drive in normal with paddle shifters and throttle response is crazy! 😅
@@mcgurrentertainment Oh well, I thought I should share because I used to try and paddle shift while in Normal (since it resets the paddles if you leave the shifter in Drive) until I discovered that trick.
I've never liked mustangs. My friend is letting me drive his 2020 roush manual and it's amazing. I'm in love, he's going to have a hard time getting it back. It's ridiculous but still able to cruise and eat shit in traffic and it's not bad at all
Good question. Sadly, no. The car will default back to normal mode once shut off. I'm sure someone on the 6g forums has attempted to change the default mode (probably using FORScan), but I haven't seen it done personally.
several confusing videos but compared several sources but the tc is on in drag mode on 2023 mustang ecoboost. i thought it was off in drag mode too but tc is on in drag mode only in tract mode its off . i guess you could manually turn it off while in drag mode. but if you just use toggle switch for drag mode its comes back on. guy from steeda and others stated this also . I just got went from a o3 ( had 19 yrs ) to a 23 wow what a change !!!!!!!!!!
These two modes have similar throttle response. I just added two data sheets (in the description) to illustrate the differences between the different modes in regards to gas pedal reaction. Someone on Facebook was nice enough to share this info.
When you turn off your vehicle, Does your vehicle stay in the last mode selected when turned back on? Or does it always automatically go back to normal driving mode?
@@mcgurrentertainment sweet thanks, I just bought a 2017 Gt Premium 6speed, I’m still getting used to it. Have not really tried any modes yet. Mainly drive it in normal, but will try out sport+ here tomorrow it should be nice a sunny 😁. Thanks for responding
@@mcgurrentertainmentI watch to buy Mustang but can't find info about something. Car i watch he has classic "navigation mod with small display 2021" but I not see inside car switching mod from normal to another, so my question is if car dont have buttons for switch mod is car have or not all that mods?
I just rented 23 GT and great video except the snow/wet portion was somewhat lacking. Going 25mph through a snowstorm on the interstate the Snow/Wet mode was absolutely worthless.
Thank you for the support. There is a lot more to the Driving Modes, for example, traction control (I can spend a whole video just on that alone). This video was mostly focused on the basics of how the modes impact the vehicle. Before making this video, Ford (and other professionals) were contacted to provide some details/documentation of how the drive modes interacted with each system. After looking at all the information, I came to the conclusion that there is a fair amount of complexity of how the components communicate and function with each other. Long story short, it would best to keep the Driving Mode functions short and simple. Good question!!!
I have a 2015 mustang ecoboost.I just want to make sure it’s ok to switch between Drive modes while driving right?I would assume so just want to make sure.
Good question. If I recall, the 2018+ Ecoboosts could have this feature. The two ways to confirm would be through the Settings on the Instrument Cluster and verify you can change the exhaust modes or physically look at the muffler for a butterfly valve. The valves are shown in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3nykKceZer8.html
Howdy, nice video, very detailed and well presented, I have a few questions though. Why are the 0-60 times so different compared to what is advertised or what I've seen from other people getting 4.2-4.3 seconds? I'm picking up this friday my 2023 GT performance package and I would be thankful if you can clarify if it has 450 or 460 hp. Thanks
Keep in mind that the car is stock with oem tires. The area it was tested was not optimal for 0-60 testing (it was a safe area that was available). So the times are just used for comparison values between the modes. And 450hp
@@mcgurrentertainment just got the car today and I have one more question if you're willing, everytime i start the car, the exhaust mode is set on normal and i always set it on sport, but whenever i shut off the engine and start it to drive again, the exhaust sound is back to normal mode, isn't there a way to save my setting so I don't have to do this everytime i hop into the car? I want to always have the exhaust sound mode on sport without doing this manually everytime i get into the car. Thanks!
This is a common question. Everyone loves the exhaust on sport/track mode. Sadly, I haven't found any information on how to accomplish this goal. I'm sure it would require some programming to make it work permanently.
I’ve never gotten a clear answer on the difference between Sport+ and S on the shifter. Is there any benefit to using them at the same time? Or does sport+ do everything S does anyways? Thanks in advance great video!
Sport and Sport+ are very similar, with a few exceptions. Sport Mode changes the throttle response and aggressive shifting to a more responsive type of driving. The same as Sport+. However, Sport+ does throttle response as well as Steering Wheel stiffness, Magneride (if equipped), and Active Valve Exhaust (if equipped). Hints: the "+" after SPORT. Sport Mode PLUS Steering, Suspension, and Exhaust.
Putting your vehicle in sport (S) provides additional lower gear operation through the automatic transmission shift strategy and provides gear upshifts and downshifts more quickly at higher engine speeds. Good question.
So I’m not sure if this a trick that everybody uses but I’ve been wondering if it’s bad for the car. When you have it on sport plus and I’m at low rpm but want to downshift(I’m in an automatic) I press the gas pedal a bit and revs up to around 5 rpm’s. Kinda new to cars so just wondering if that’s a normal thing to do
Yes, people do this, and it's not uncommon. Is it bad....? Well, any aggressive driving can put extra stress on the engine and transmission over time, causing wear and tear. However, these are sports cars to enjoy, not to keep behind glass or drive 10 under the speed limit. Quick question: Does your mustang have the paddle shifters?
Well, you can toggle the traction control switch in Track Mode. However, the traction indicator still indicates it's off. Can't confirm without hooking up.
@@mcgurrentertainment all it had was a cold air intake and an exhaust, the passenger side heated seats button is also not working which leads me to believe it’s the wiring connector behind the display there
Yes. The Ecoboost is similar to the GT regarding Drive Mode functions (obviously, the 0-60 times will differ). If you would like more info on the EcoBoost, check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o15P8oCXNVI.html
The "S" on the gearshift level is Sport Mode; provides additional grade braking and extends lower gear operation. "D" is drive mode and is used for normal driving; provide best fuel economy when using the gearshift level. If you want to use "Sport+" you would need to toggle the Mode Button until Sport+ is enabled.
@@mcgurrentertainment When I wanna use regular sport mode I have to put the car in drive and put it on sport from the switch. If I wanna use sport plus I gotta put the gear on S and then put the switch on sport plus.
I have not performed any experiments, so bare with me. From what I heard, Wet/Snow mode gives you the best MPG, and then Normal mode is 2nd best. Sport Mode through Track Mode turns the car into a gas guzzler. As far as exact MPG, I would need to run the car on a close track with controlled conditions. Good question, though.
Hello, I'm looking at getting a custom order GT fastback 2022. If I get the car WITHOUT the toggle switches, can I still change these driving modes from the console?
@@mcgurrentertainment The Standard 300A. Had a few things I didn't want in that 301A package didn't want to pay for them. So I guess I'll have to upgrade to the GT High 301A Equipment Group. Thanks for the reply and information.
I understand completely. I was on the fence when I purchased my Mustang (300A vs 301A). After playing with the features, I really got attached to the Android Auto and Apple Carplay features. But cost does play a huge factor these packages. Sadly, the cost of vehicles are ridiculous right now.
@@mcgurrentertainment whats better on ford mustang ecoboost 2017 0-60 ? trackmode or sportmodes + and when we doing roll races at 40mphbwhats better to select trackmode or sportsmode?
@@mcgurrentertainment Can I turn on traction control while in track mode? And which is better for 0-60 mph: traction control on or off? Also, which is better for a roll race starting at 40 mph: traction control on or off? thankyou for answering my question
Never tried to turn traction control on in Track Mode. Give it a try, see if it works. Traction control has the possibility to impact drag racing. Unknown about roll racing.
@@mcgurrentertainment and one things is the exhaust changes depending on the Driving mode for example if I put the car in track mode it sounds more than in normal mode
The factory Active Valve Exhaust was not available until 2018. According to Steeda, "In 2018, Ford first made the Active Exhaust option available for the Mustang GT, three years after the debut of the GT350 which came with the active exhaust setup in 2015. If your Mustang GT is older than 2018, you will not have the factory option for Active Exhaust available unless you own a GT350. You could still easily do so with an aftermarket exhaust system but it will not have Ford’s electronically integrated setup installed." (Reference: www.steeda.com/do-you-have-active-exhaust)
@@mcgurrentertainment yes i understand this but i dont have selectable drive modes. S+ Track Wet/Slippery etc. i can only change the way my steering feels
The "Traction Off" indicator light is only shown in Track Mode, however it is also Off in Drag mode as well (just not shown). Drag Mode provides maximum power to the drive wheels during the run; traction control enabled would counteract the straight performance. When Ford added this feature in 2018, it seems it was implied Traction Control was disabled. Good attention to detail 👍
@@mcgurrentertainment That’s the point we all have read the owner’s manual, im not asking for someone else to read it to me… I’m looking for real life detailed opinion. You don’t really know how the car works your just guessing and reading from a manual. Just for content, "Filler information" Get behind the wheel and test on an open road and run actual test then post. Good luck
Prime example if your in track mode and tap the gas the car will drop gear for a few seconds. Good to do before a turn to prevent the car from bogging down when accelerating through a turn. Do your research you’ll see what I mean…
