In this video, I cover how I built my SPS reef tank to be as quiet as possible by being smart with the equipment used and methods for quiet overflows. I hope some of these silent tips can help make your aquarium much quieter! FWIW, All the old pics are all from my various old systems.

Tunze 6105 is so underrated. No one talks about them but they push some serious water. I just picked up a second one, the Tunze 6105 eco which is more emergency efficient. Next on the shopping list is the Tunze safety connector so I can add them to my battery backup system. P.S. tank looks great!

Agreed! Tunze needs to step up their US marketing. Is there any difference with the eco other than being more energy efficient?

@@NBurgReef 11 watts vs 35 watts + a standard 5 year warranty. Everything else looks the same. They are going to be my go to wavemaker here on out I think.

I’m telling you, whatever the Black material is on the back of the tank, it takes 60 seconds to clean the whole tank. It’s like anti-coraline sticking technology!

Although I haven’t looked into it, I heard there’s a new Tunze ato pump that is plug and play with your unit that is much more quiet. Mine is loud as well. I also ran a smart ato micro for last 5 years and it’s not entirely silent, but pretty damn close. Great looking tank as always man!

Yeah when this one dies, I will look into that one, but I will let this pump die first. It’s like $80 for that pump I think.

I find the noise of the Tunze ATO actually quite reassuring, as I know its doing its thing, and it's not like it is running all day or anything

@@skeptics_reef5575 when my water level is low, I can hear the water dipping over the baffle so I know it’s an empty reservoir. That’s another thing I don’t like about the Tunze, my smart ato beeps when the reservoir is empty. I have to rely on the little flashing light to know it’s empty with the Tunze..

you should check out the new Tunze ATO pump replacement. It's much more quiet than the original motor of the osmolator.

Can you give more details on how and what side of the mp40 you apply lubricant?

I will put a little on the white shaft on the bottom piece and on both sides of the magnet (bottom and under the little plastic disk between the mag and impeller blades. Just enough to coat it. Too much and it can prevent it from spinning… if that happens, just wipe it a little and should work. I might do it on cam in my maintenance vid from a couple months ago.

What molykote are you using? I just looked it up and they have a bunch of different versions. Trying to make sure I get a reef safe version and if you are testing on your tank, it's good enough for me. Saw you have the 111 in the picture. Didn't know if that was the one!
