I have a different prespective diversification of funds within same fund type with different fund houses. Though the investment portfolio may be similar in first look in the case of companies they invest, the %age of allocation would be different. Hence this also diversifies the risk within the category. This apply mostly for non index funds. If you are not in track of fund manager/ ER / other changes, you may be at risk of assuring the performance. so having more than one fund in the same category helps in diversification in that aspect as well. There is also sectorial diversification. for a large cap fund, some funds may have more on banking, some have more on telecom, IT etc.. so overall there is a cushioning factor happening with such diversification. please correct if you have a diverse view establishing why you should never do that will affect the returns. putting all in one basket is always risk in my view.

We prefer to diversify funds to different caps/sectors. Even after such diversification based on goals, you can invest more then can be considered.

@@MoneyTalksWithNikhil I mentioned to further diversify within each subsets of caps/ sectors after initial diversity. As example, taking mid cap and small caps are over valued in current scenario, putting all in one basket having some risk during market correction. if you further diversify within each cap/ sector will definitely help, unless there is an established disadvantage.

ഞാൻ SIP MANUAL (ആയി ഇൻവെസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു. മാർക്കറ്റ് മുകളിലോട്ട് പോകുമ്പോൾ SIP ചെയ്യുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ നല്ലത് താഴോട്ട് പോകുമ്പോൾ അല്ലെ ? ഏറ്റവും മിനിമം എപ്പോഴാണ് എന്ന് അറിയില്ല എങ്കിലും താഴോട്ട് പോകുമ്പോൾ INCREMENT ചെയ്തു LUMSUM ഇടുക. എന്തായാലും daily once porfolio check ചെയ്യുന്നവർക്ക് പറ്റുന്ന വഴിയാണ്. 9-10 am നു purchase ചെയ്‌താൽ അന്നത്തെ തന്നെ NAV കിട്ടും..
