This is another new series I am doing in regards to comparing sports games from different companies. Today it is MVP Baseball 2005 vs. MLB 2K5. Who do you think will do better? Do you think MVP Baseball 2005 is better or MLB 2K5 better?

Had both at the same time. 2K5 was underrated as hell. Loved the presentation and Joe Morgan commentating.

The video game industry started dying for me when we lost having a choice with major sports games. The games and gameplay were rich in these times. Nowadays, it's only the companies with their exclusive rights.

I'm in the minority but I preferred 2k5 over the beloved MVP. The gameplay was just as good IMO and the ESPN presentation with Karl Ravech intros and commentary by Jon Miller and Joe Morgan was so cool. Regardless, it's a shame that there is no competition anymore. We only get one choice per sport which I guess isn't a choice at all. As great as The Show is, it's becoming stagnant. I still play 20.

Back when there was actual competition. I actually enjoy both of them, but I think MVP 2005 is more advanced than MLB 2K5. 2K5, however, is an underrated game! (Also, I wonder how long MLB 2K5's franchise lasts. I know MVP's is 120 years, which is 19,440 regular season games (162 games x 120 seasons))

I'm a MVP baseball fan. I own MVP Baseball 2005 and MVP baseball 2007/NCAA baseball for the PS2. The fun part about the MVP series is the create mode. I'll play owner mode in MVP 2005, and treat the game as a franchise simulator. The replay value is high because you have a variety of options (the 2005 Tampa Bay Rays had one of the best farm systems). Now with 2007 MVP, I like to create realistic generic ballparks (small, medium, big), so if I play against a team, you have more options to play at other venues.

@@keneth-perera Farm system is another way of saying Minor leagues and it is a pro league that develops players so they can reach the big stage which is the major leagues.

I don't have a PS2, just Xbox and maybe GameCube games to play on the wii. However, comparing them would be interesting

@@ajmarkle96 oh yes, yes that slipped my mind there. After looking there, ps2 was very limited baseball games in europe. All star baseball up to 2004, high heat baseball and homerun? Was same with xbox 360 here, mlb2k11 and that was it as far as I know. Guess they didn't think they would sell well here.

@@ajmarkle96 Deeper gameplay, a true expansion mode where you pick a team name, City, pick a ballpark and do a full expansion draft. The game even tells you the pros and cons of each fictional ballpark and recommends certain players who will excel in those dimensions. It also has an insane number of unlockable legends. It’s the best kept secret in sports gaming

It's all about the on field gameplay and 2k5 and MVP had much superior gameplay. I couldn't care less about making an expansion team.
