The baseball video game we don't talk about enough 

2k Sports games were FIRE during that era. NFL 2k5, arguably the best football game of all-time, NBA 2k5 and NHL 2k5 were great, and MLB 2k5 gets 2nd place in its own year behind MVP, but not by much.

I loved MLB 2K5. I still play it on occasion. I miss John Miller and Joe Morgan doing the play-by-play. I also have MVP 2005 but I play MLB 2K5 a lot more. Great video though!

I have both and I still like the game play and pitching in 2k5 over mvp. Also graphics are much better as well as presentation. But MVP has better game modes

This is the only baseball game I play. The gameplay is fluid, the presentation is great, and the Franchise Mode is very In Depth yet very easy to pick up. I bought it the day it came out and have played it ever since. Hell, I learned about emulation just to play this game when I didn't have a working copy of the game. Absolute classic, will never change my mind

Mlb 2K5 was easily my most favorite sports game other than NFL 2K5.

I play both games and its correct, MLB 2K5 is the best baseball game for PS2. I tried to play later versions (06-12) and it was never the same. The fluid movements, batting system, the runners, the K-ZONE and custom batting poses were lost. MLB 2K5 is a gem. Thank you for the video, I'm really glad to hear that someone loved the game as much as I did.

I liked the 2k6 pitching system better tho I wished 2k6 had the espn presentation

Something about this era of sports games man. I never had the opportunity to play them being from Northern Ireland. But they just look so fun.

I bought a Ps4 and MLB The Show 18 after liking the 2k series for 360. I haven't touched it since buying Super Mega Baseball 2 on Steam. Its weird, but I cant believe how much better I like that game and its mechanics more than the Show

2k5 was just as good. What I liked is that I believe you could edit player ages whereas in MVP you couldn’t…MVP played a little better movement wise bud 2k5 was so solid

I loved both MVP and MLB 2K. I was and still am a franchise guy. MVP had the better gameplay but MLB 2K5 gave me better immersion. So I played 2K5 more because of it.

Nfl 2k5 (beat football game ever), Nhl 2k5(best hockey game ever) and mlb 2k5(Top 5 baseball game). even nba 2k5 was okay 💪🏻

I played MLB 2K5 for 4 franchise seasons until the game kept freezing in the same spot and I could no longer play it any more. Gosh I miss this game though!

Other than NFL 2K5 (because everyone already know how great that game is) the entire 2K5 lineup was underrated.

Major League Baseball 2K5 is a very enjoyable game. The best part about this game is you can add your own stadium music in the Xbox version (like the New York Yankees theme song for Yankees Stadium, Meet the Mets for Shea Stadium, Bye Bye Baby for Pacific Bell Park, etc.).

This was my first baseball game as a kid. I played it from about 2005, all the way until 2012 when we finally moved from ps2 to the 360. I know the 2005 MLB rosters better than the back of my hand lol

There were 2 things I liked MLB 2K5 were the trivia questions given after the end of the 3rd inning , it was fun and a challenge testing your baseball knowledge . And another thing that you never saw on any of the other baseball games was the 7th inning stretch , seeing the fans getting up to sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame was very realistic and what for on at every Major League park . 👍

I almost forgot about those mlb 2k games i think 2k7 was the only one I played and me and friends had fun just giving it a go to see who will win with no care for the game At all but still it was alright kinda fun so many years removed those games from my memory

I loved the 2k games. I owned mvp 04, which I loved, but switched to the 2ks the next year. And stuck with them till they discontinued.

For its time graphics looked pretty good

My favorite baseball games were the Ken Griffey games. I also really loved the MLB Slugfest games from the mid-00s. I wish there was an arcade MLB game for the switch

Dialogue, presentation and simulation are sweet, but gameplay is what makes a game enjoyable and timeless. MVP had the gameplay, 2K has presentation.

In my opinion the 2K MLB games always had A+ presentation the commentators were great as well gameplay wasn't as polished as MVP 05 but wasn't terrible either I think what turned many people off was they kept putting Derek Jeter on the cover every year I think they put him on the cover for like 3+ years even after other MLB licensed games like all star baseball had Jeter every year as well it was like someone had some deep man crush on Jeter it turned people off especially because majority of baseball fans don't like the Yankees to begin with

OOTP for text-based (of course). That game has nearly everything, except I’d like a tool to make your own weighted ratings using the 20-80’s your scouts give you. Would keep me from having to create a spreadsheet. MLB the Show in all iterations in recent memory. It just captures the gameplay incredibly. Where it falls short is in the text-based area, and, unless they’ve fixed it this year, postseason SP stamina is unrealistic. Teams almost exclusively go to 4- or 3-man rotations, and The Show has made pitchers take LONGER to recover in the postseason than in the regular season (i.e. 4-5 days may not be enough to get a pitcher back to 100% if some of those days were off-days for the team.) Totally backwards, and their explanation was equally nonsensical. A merger of OOTP and The Show would be baseball gaming’s moment of singularity/nirvana. To go multiplatform, where you could play seasons in the text-based format on laptop/pc/mac, then seamlessly play the same game with full gameplay on PS4 would be a game changer of epic proportions. With the cloud, it’s totally possible.

I personally consider MLB 2K5 a flawed gem. I also think All-Star Baseball 2005 was underrated and deserved more recognition as well.

I'm in the UK so it was hard to be fan of North American sports over here. I loved NFL, NHL and MLB. Not so much NBA, though I was an Orlando Magic fan. What made it worse is that a lot of these games wouldn't be released over here. The demand was never high enough. We did have a few Madden and NHL games. No MLB games, or we were lumbered with the crappy ones. Over here, the FIFA series is king. I found out about MVP 2005 a few years after it was released and downloaded it for PC. Awesome game. I didn't even know about the 2K games. Deffo gonna give this a try after seeing it for the first time. Cheers.

The player models are terrible though, the glove looks like a piece of wood and they hats aren’t sat right on the head. The ankles and feet look stupid as hell. Gameplay is okay.

I love MVP Baseball 2003. I love the hitting and pitching mechanics, I’d use the Padres and go all the way to the WS each year. I just wish there was some way to keep track of career stats

MVP 2005 Baseball is the most overrated baseball game ever I don't understand the love for it. It's not terrible but I easily prefer many others over it

One cool thing 2k13 had, I think it was that one, was you could have batters switch batters boxes at any point. I would mess around n have Derek Jeter bat left handed sometimes. Or the cheat codes for metal bats and giant bobble heads. 2k in these days made authentic sports games, but also gave us fun bonuses to give their games plenty of replayability. My favorite is the legends teams. 2k did it better than anyone. Unlike The Show who has 3 Legends teams, 2K gave us the greatest teams ever in general. 1927, 1932, 1961, 1977, 1998 Yankees, 1955 Dodgers, 1954 Giants, 1986 Mets, 1941 Red Sox, etc etc. Yes, I'm a Yankee fan. Anywsys, 2K needs to give us these games again. I've always loved The Show, been playing it ever since it was 989 MLB, but 2K holds a big spot next to my heart, same with MVP Baseball.

Today I ordered espn baseball 2k4 which came out before this one. Mlb 2005 with vin scully. You should review these. My favorite is Mlb 08 the show. Mlb 06 the show was most fun.

I just decided to buy this game because of your video. NFL 2K5 is the best football game ever made, so I figured the baseball game has to be as equally good. Watching this video gave me more insight. I haven't followed baseball since mid 90's, so with that said, the last baseball game I played was probably on Super Nintendo. The other day I was wanting to play a baseball game, but I don't have any. So I've been watching videos on what games are considered the best. But alot of people have different opinions on the subject based on what they prefer out of a game. But like I said, after watching this video and knowing the game is 2K Series. I was sold. Good video. 👍 I realized that there are newer 2K baseball games. So how are those compared to this one?? I ask because even though I play older Madden games. I was afraid to purchase newer ones, based on the fact that alot of people are dissatisfied with them. So I've been hesitant to buy any. So I was wondering if any of the 2K baseball games declined each year, or if they improved.

A lot of those atheistically pleasing things would look great with the more modern MLB games; it would great to have a more fluid and seamless tele broadcast look.

world series baseball 2k3 is my all time favorite baseball sim, visual concepts did a solid job with sega, then they obviously started caring more about basketball and football,wish sega would bring it back highly recommend it
