MWO Build & Skills : SDPS HagVomit Night Gyr

The Night Gyr is one of the deadliest heavy mechs around with it being an omni-mech with high pod tonnage and its ability to mount ECM. It is, unfortunately, agonisingly slow and cumbersome for a clan heavy but this is much more bearable with a mindset shift to play it like an assault mech.
While previously this build had a Heavy Large Laser and an ER Medium Laser, I found that too hot after heat nerfs to the HAGs and this build works well as it benefits from the cooldown bonuses, allowing it to fire faster and do sustained damage albeit at a sacrifice of having a lower alpha.

I just bought and tried out your recent HAG mech, the MAD-IIC-something... with the ECM, x2 HAG30's and x2 ELL. It's a beast even at my low tier! First 2 matches 850 damage, then 780 damage. I really like it! Thanks for showcasing it. I already have this Night Gyr so I'll be keen to learn something from your play style. She's a little toasty this one

Sounds like the Marauder IIC-D. Best mech ever.

Yeah, that MAD-IIC-D is a very strong and popular build (at least at higher tiers). HAGVomit and ECM is a super strong combo and that makes the MAD-IIC-D an S-tier mech. It's a mech (like this NTG-H) that needs to know the strong spots (Especially for range. eg. E5, junkyard-C6/D6 on Canyon) and just hold and shoot. Technically not my build (just sharing popular/good builds that emerge) but glad you like it! - BrioS

If the HAGs would sync with the ER-LL burn time, what you hit with the lasers, you'd hit with the HAGs. But, I've noticed HAGs don't sync like regular clan gauss does with the lasers. Also, the heat issues make firing HAGs with lasers trickier. The TBR Howls are still a bit OP.

Yeah, the velocity desync between HAG and hitscan ERLL is irritating but very manageable with the very high velocity of gauss (which is why I still take Velocity nodes for HAG/GR). I'm actually more wary of GR+ERLL in the hands of a skilled player than HAGVomit because of the larger pinpoint and that is easier to sync due to the lack of a stream of pellets that HAG does. HAGVomit (HAGs+Lasers) were OP for quite a while hence the nerfs to HAG (eg. duration, spread and LOADS of heat) since launch. The heat nerf was a bit too much hence the last patch toned it down a bit. and I feel HAGVomit is in a nice spot now. - BrioS

What does "SDPS" means? Personally I prefer the classic 2GR+2ERLL. More concentrated damage, and better sustained I believe, and easier to pilot (I drop on it to relax ^^). But to each their own I guess, you seems to do pretty well with this build! PS: never skip leg day ^^

SDPS means Sustained Damage Per Second. This is commonly used for builds that can fire many times before being limited by heat (as compared to builds that do a lot of damage for huge amounts of heat). Generally not so popular as compared to the large alphas that generate loads of heat (which, honestly, is better) but it has it's thrills. As for the classic 2GE+2ERLL build, I am more afraid of a good player in that build that this build I'm showcasing as HAG damage is easier to twist away than GR. To be honest, this build just farms a lot of damage without much pinpoint. - BrioS
