Great work on the torso twisting. You are getting so much efficiency out of the mech's armour and structure. In both matches you took over two times your total CT hit points (armour + structure) all from good damage spreading and torso twisting.
@@robertrequiredfield5064 I did die occasionally from being XL checked tbh but generally Warhammers have pretty good hitboxes and spreads damage well. My defensive play still needs work believe it or not but this is why a lot of the skilled players run IS XL: they spread the damage and kill you faster (with the tonnage saved from XL) than you can kill them. A lot of other benefits one can do with the tonnage from using IS XL... - BrioS
Well, that is an idea. I do try builds when I streamed but I haven't streamed in weeks as I've been really busy. Ah well.... Thanks for the feedback :) - BrioS
It takes experience to get a "feel" of how the team is gonna rotate. I held the left as long as I could or the enemy would have pushed through en masse and murdered my team. Made sense to pin them down as long as I can before falling back. Helped that my main weapons were on my left so I expose minimally. That being said, team DID rotate away from their push on our left (see the Warlord turn tail and run then blame the team) and I eventually had to fall back under too much pressure. Thankfully I had speed and mobility in my Fang so it was easier to fall back. I just wish teams would hold and push the enemy for cresting the hill rather than fall back at the first sign of pressure.... 😓 - BrioS

That's also very legit. Personally I almost always prefer DPS over survivability but that's more of a personal preference thing. With the additional tonnage from XL giving additional tonnage for speed/firepower/etc, it helps many players be a bigger threat. Survivability can be improved by skill like twisting, better positioning, etc. I actually ran LFE + 3 LXPL before with the right side used to shield (and then you can dab!) but just didn't like it. But no shame using LFE; like I said : personal preference. ;) - BrioS
Hey! Welcome to the game! Hope you like the game and my content. I post casually (about once a week) and I don't monetise my channel because, for me, it's just to share my passion and hopefully people learn about good builds and good gameplay. Do hop on to the discords to connect with the community if that is your thing. MWO is a REALLY deep game if you want to dive into it and learning from experienced others is essential if one wants to "get good". Lots of misinformation too (because it is old, with bad documentation and a string of changes over the years) so expert others to clarify things always helps. Anyway, I've pinned the build and skill code links in the comments but here it is for easier access:- Build Code : A16820E1|Jd|GO|KPpj0|l?|e@qj0|l?|e@rA0|[<2|dOs10tl0|GO|KPul0|GO|GOv60|KPw302020 Skill Code : aff5fdfdf76de7c570b49cdf56f00000000000000404a035a399190000000 Modify the skills to your preference. This particular build is harder to play because of the XL engine so requires some above average level of defensive skill like twisting damage. Anyway, hope to see you around in-game or in discords. Oh, and thanks for the subs. Cheers man & Salut! - BrioS
A lot of the more highly skilled players exhibit excellent defensive skills and tbh defensive play is one of my weakest and not at their level. But I run XL on a lot of my IS builds to practice these defensive skills (like twisting damage away, etc). Any mech can be "tankier" that way. That being said, Dragon can be made to be a tanky brawler with LFE or even Standard engine but.. nah.... - BrioS
Dragons are pretty legit now and the Fang is just amazing! Other builds are arguably better but I just love the constant pewpew of those LXPLs... - BrioS
Old HPG was honestly very NASCARish due to the dual tier middle section. Fun but I prefer current HPG. Also I played so terribly back in the day 😅 - BrioS
What a fantastic fight, love it! "Aggression wins games" is one of those phrases I wish more people took to heart. Much more fun way to play for me as well, the lazors and explosions and missiles and your mech shaking because you took an AC20 makes these moments very satisfying to me
I may have my feed order wrong, but if you moved the AC10 ammo out of the CT and into the leg, I think you could force it to feed AC10 ammo out of the arm first, limiting the potential loss of that limb. Otherwise, a great build, could make me use something other than 4 AC5s on the BW.
Ammo order is... CT > LT > RT > LA > RA > LL > RL > H Anyway, best way to avoid ammo explosion is to make sure the ammo is already in the enemy mechs! 😉 - BrioS
The strength of this mech is not the DPS. It's the rapid firing PPFLD. Sure there are other builds that are similar or better but that 30 PPFLD is sweet. Different from DPS or DPH of course. - BrioS
Yes he did although damage to me was minimal and incidental. I actually suspected a sniper was shooting me when I was in the centre as I would have done the same. Just take (and roll) the damage while continuing to move and making use of cover. Post match I could see that the chainfiring ERLL Dire did effectively nothing considering his loadout and position. This is what I mentioned in the last vid: most players who play/main snipers are pretty useless. Then again, I have high standards for sniper gameplay and didn't wanna shit on the player in the vid. - BrioS
LoL... Kinda. It's just actually a one-sided, narrow-minded view of how a team should operate in QP. They want players to play the way they'll play and don't respect the way that others want to play. Just a lack of respect if you look at it negatively... - BrioS
@@ClanBRxV True, but I still don`t understand the hate towards snipers/lrm boats. I don`t play much, but MWO is my most online game played due to one big advantage: all builds can be countered. Now imagine a magshot Flea or a Piranha going for You.
I'm going to preface by saying I HARD disagree with point 4 in your 'what snipers should be doing' list. The problem isn't with snipers or sniper assaults. It's with the simple fact that the majority of ones who try to fill that role are incompetent in it, but then cite damage values at end of match as evidence of competence. No. 500 damage with 3 KMDD is FAR more impressive than 1000 with 0 KMDD. Big numbers mean either that you did a lot of work that match, in which case you will have a corresponding number of KMDD and/or component destructions, or that your fire was mostly ineffective. I would rather have a sniper with 300 damage and 4 component destructions than 600 damage, 1 solo kill, and 2 component destructions on that solo kill. The one that technically did less damage, had a MUCH larger effect on the enemy team's ability to fight. I do a better job as a 'sniper' with a Hunch-GI running stanGauss+ERmeds than most players do with Assault mechs utilizing ERppc, ERLL, and gauss spam. Why? Because they think snipers don't move, and their target prioritization skills suck hard. I've seen a sniper DW, with ERLL and gauss, let 3 different allies be killed by a KC, because the idiot was both stationary (thus not moving to get line of sight, when his position fully allowed it and he was literally waiting for the KC to round the corner when 10 steps to the right would place him in LOS while he was shooting at allies) was shooting for CT and legs (while out of optimal), instead of hitting the already nearly stripped claws. I've also seen way too many waste time on lights they aren't even hitting, instead of maiming the enemy heavies and assaults that their team will have more trouble with. Good snipers aren't static, and provide EFFECTIVE fire. Getting damage doesn't mean your fire is effective. Too many matches I see people going 'I did damage, therefore I was mvp'. No. The mvp is the one that had the most impact on the enemy team's ability to fight back. Sometimes that MVP is a locust who chose JUST the right moment to jump the enemy firing line from behind. He may not have done much damage, but he got them looking the wrong way as a friendly lance rounded the corner into what is now the enemy's back, in the process enabling the maiming/killing of multiple enemy mechs at minimal loss of his own team's fighting capability. Other times that MVP is the direwolf UV loaded up with LB5s that was a little late to the party, but walked out with 5+ kmdd and 700 damage. Yet other times it's the crab/cent/enforcer/insertmediumhere who was just popping out from behind an allied assault to vomit on distracted targets, specifically aiming for open components or critical hitboxes and running out in the open just to force the response toward him, to split some of the fire off of the ally assault already getting hammered, so that assault gets a few seconds more to apply their own firepower, or hell, maybe even lives to tell the tale when they otherwise would have been wrecked entirely. I play a lot of wingman and fire-support role. Assault snipers in particular annoy me because most aren't good enough to make up the armor and firepower deficit they create at the front lines.
I don’t think the frustration is with the value of snipers, that much is fairly evident to most players, but rather that the game often rewards snipers over the rest of the team which they rely on. It’s significantly easier to get 1.7k damage sniping than it is doing the same brawling, but without the brawler soaking up damage and holding up for as long as he can the sniper can’t get his damage out. And yet, this game more or less rewards dealing damage above all else. This isn’t necessarily a problem in an of itself but it can be pretty frustrating well your roll in a match is just to be a wall so the guy in the back can relax. As to your point about sniper assaults I would like to point out that the Night Gyr can run the same weapons systems while being 15 tons lighter. It’s not a perfect comparison of course but shifting those 15 tons to the front line does means extra armour for you team at the cost of more heat for you. All this to say, I don’t think a snipers usefulness is the problem. People who argue that kinda let there frustrations cloud their judgement. Snipers are however an inherently selfish role as per the current state of the game which understandably leaves other players feeling rather jaded.
Teamwork seems to be overrated these days. The PSR doesn't help. With that mech, you want to engage long range. It gives you time to deal more damage as they close. It can brawl, but not well. The HAGs hurt your heat, but they deal a bit more damage and you can carry more ammo for more damage over time. Lights are a pain in the ass to that mech. I've been backstabbed many a time. But, like you said, it's their job. That said, you don't have to give them an easy kill either. That mech consistently does well in that niche using either the older build or the newer HAG builds. It never gets old. What makes me laugh is when someone takes missiles with the gauss rifles.
This is a very strong mech, no doubt about it. IMHO one of the strongest builds around. Even then, takes practice to position well to contribute and also to avoid being isolated and killed/harassed. I still like to contribute as part of a team hence Comms & coordination. But it can also be played selfishly and I do that occasionally when the team is full of idiots (tbh) 🤭 - BrioS
Hey BrioS, did you watch Sean Lang's recent MadCat video from a few days ago? In one of the matches, he did some great team coordination while providing cover from his sniping position.
Oh, I haven't. People always complain about snipers but don't realise how valuable they are to the team. Snipers, especially assault Snipers, are also very vulnerable. Not easy to play one effectively too as I know many sniper mains who are just useless and not an asset to their team. - BrioS
Yeah, definitely luck involved in this match. Long match too. Missed the initial positioning, calls and trading because I set my Shadowplay for only 10 mins of background recording... - BrioS
The 7 Small laser (or ER small) and the 2 Binary lasers with smalls are also fun with this variant. The 1A1 is a good buy as each of these is pretty good and fun to play (in somewhat different ways). Big mech go zoom is usually a good time and relaxing as you said.
Yeah, the small laser boating version is also very legit albeit short ranged. Either way, like you said, the 1A1 is a good buy and just plain fun ☺️ - BrioS
i run 7 er smalls on mine with a tc mk1V 95 kph is really good i have had many 1000+ matches with it and it is really fun to play an 80 ton medium mech
It's a shame that the Gargoyle can't do what this mech does. They are not easy to kill once they are in range, and they do well on brawl maps with lots of cover.
It's already hot as it is so ER SLs give better burst but poorer sustain and this mech is about sustain. A TCom would definitely help but I was going for max heat dissipation so got a DHS instead. All these options are legit, just have to play it slightly differently. This build is just W forward and button mash. 😊 - BrioS
This is the build I run, and while I can confirm it's strengths, your range is VERY limited. The way I play it is to basically follow my lights and just help bully other lights since you are, effectively, an 80 ton light mech.
Cougar has been buffed quite a few times because it was so subpar at launch. The current patch gave it additional heat dissipation which syncs nicely with this build, making it more feasible and even better as a training mech imho - BrioS
BrioS, I'm shocked!! Absolutely shocked, that you played with Jay Z and he wasn't in a Stalker 🤣🤣🤣. But thank you for highlighting the COU-H new quirks, I might have to take this mech out for a spin again.
ikr!! He had a bit of free time while managing/chasing his kid around so he decided to join Dark Marauder. A new addition to the ranks of MechDadism! - BrioS
Because I like to suffer........ 🤭 But seriously, being fragile and slow makes one think EXTRA carefully, making this an excellent training mech. I used this a lot when I wanted to get ride of my overly aggressive tendencies (and thus die sadly in the front). Now I'm still aggressive but am more aware of positioning and manage my aggro better. Hellbringer, being a heavy, is more forgiving of errors and this makes one more complacent as one goes through the "ah... I can take that damage..." thought process. - BrioS
I picked up the cougar C (the one with medium Er lasers and a Gauss rifle). You can run it in stock configuration like a Hellbringer (a bit of armor distribution), but without the ecm and it just does fine. I actually like the cougar more than the Hellbringer despite the tonnage difference.Going to check your laser vormit though, sounds interesting.
ECM in the COU-H head REALLY helps in it's survivability. Any Cougar can run this build being an Omnimech and it's pretty lit. This mech is just adorable and people tend not to notice it (partly due to ECM...) and when a friendly has the aggro of the enemy, one can just unload a large alpha into a component and return back to cover. - BrioS
Glad you like it. It's pretty rare but as you realise, once one gets used to the arse mounts, it's pretty damn strong. The Trebuchet-5J with a similar build is also unique and strong but with arse mounts if you like mechs with shitty mounts 🤭 - BrioS
Those were great days. You're always welcome to drop with me on or off stream, just need to hit me up 😉 Game has changed a lot and, also, not changed a lot. But game imho is in a better position and more fun than it was years ago. Cheers old friend 🫡 - BrioS
