Man thanks for this review!!! My favorite delay has been my carbon copy for a long time. Due to playing with different groups on different stages I’ve been using my flashback for convenience. I’ve been wanting to check out a deluxe ever since I’d heard they were coming out.

You can never go wrong with a MXR. Also beats paying 400 bucks for a Strymon Timeline.

That sounds awesome, and the price is good, it's straightforward, and it does pretty much everything I would want. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this delay. But that flashing tap division light is going to drive me INSANE.

Great review! Looking for a pedal that has no tone-suck at all. Sounds like when you flicked the unit on (4:10) some of the highs dropped out. What's your thoughts on how this unit maintains the dry signal?

a great pedal to me is one that you forget its actually on. only when its gone do you realise what was great about it.

Hey Fluff. I'm getting ready to invest in two notes. I'm torn between the live/studio. I plan on using it more for recording than a live rig, but the studio is a bit more expensive. Should hold out and save up the extra bones for a studio? My recording space doesn't have an iso cab, or a separate room for guitar amps so I am wanting it for a recording solution to do less micing cabs and being able to just record straight into the daw. Would love to get some advice if you read this!

Damn...watching this video just reinforces how fucking good my dd-500 is at emulating these things. My brain went “this sounds like the analog mode on my dd-500” where my brain used to go “the analog mode on my dd-20 sounds like a carbon copy”. Btw, the dd-20 is still one of my favorite delays as well. I actually have a carbon copy and it’s AMAZING but if you rely on delay to achieve certain sounds reliably, at a moment’s notice, midi switchable boxes like the timeline and the dd-500 are really tough to beat.

Anyone know what happens to the trails when you use the tap tempo? Do the warp like the strymon brigadier or do they remain unaffected?

i owned a Seymour Duncan vapor trail once, but I had to get rid of it because you could actually hear the tempo led light flash through your speakers, if that makes sense. Do you have that problem with this pedal Fluff?

Help please .. Need to set myself up with a reverb and delay pedals. Opinions appreciated. Vapor Trail or Mxr carbon copy for delay, Thinking digitech polara for reverb or maybe the 2 in 1 Keeley caverns v2 for both reverb and delay.

I have an old Line6 PodXT Live that I use in my loop just for FX, and I leave delay on all the time to sweeten up the sound (to my ears at least). Would this pedal be overkill for someone that leaves it on all the time? Maybe the mini? I don't know.

Can this pedal handle line level signals, so i could run an analog modular synth through it?

Is it just me or the modulation sounds a bit like a chorus?. I have had the mod on all the time in my carbon copy, but I can notice any difference when it's off.

Supa-Puss, just about the same, but with its own gain and tone knobs to be precise with, that's an owner's biased opinion, i've owned a Carbon Copy, but not simultaneously to compare it to back to back, but all the functions are there +2.

Eh, looks nice but I think I'll stick with my Boss DD-20 Giga Delay. The Giga Delay and the Carbon Copy Deluxe have similar features; however the DD-20 has a screen that visually shows you what tempo BPM the delay's in. With a Carbon Copy Deluxe, you have to approximate the tempo as you don't get the numerical reference for your delay tempos. I'm sure something like a Strymon TimeLine might be in my interest later down the road, but I personally like the fact that DD-20 is more versatile in terms of functionality options.

What are your thoughts on the Canyon or Caverns V2? I really want that shimmer sound without getting a big expensive echoplex thing. Kind of like those Periphery almost orchestr-y sounding cleans. I'm new to pedals.

Owned this pedal for 9 months... nothing but frustration. I sold it and purchased the Strymon El Capistan. Of course the Carbon is analog and the Strymon is digital but the Carbon did not inspire me. There are dozens of delay pedals to choose from in 2021 and the Carbon Copy is one of the most underwhelming and its surprising considering its MXR...
