The MXR Modified Overdrive is the newest in the line of Custom Badass. It is badass! You get classic overdrive tones with more tonal options than you would find in other overdrive pedals. The 100HZ cut and boost control allows for a more focused EQ when cut, or a beefier tone when boosted. Really great for fattening up a solo or cut back on a rhythm tone that you don't want to get in the way. The Modified O.D. also has a Bump switch. The Bump switch engages an alternate EQ voicing that boosts the lows and miss. The MXR Custom Badass Modified Overdrive!

I have one of these pedals. I think it's OUTSTANDING!! My plan is to get a few more to keep in the closet in the event that they're not made anymore. This is a phenomenal overdrive pedal....!!!

I set my amp as edge of breakup, a kind of dirty clean. Them this comes in as my high gain rythm. It sounds so good with humbuckers. The bump really helps with single coils.

The 100hz boost/cut is a feature Tubescreamers really need and be option to either flatten or boost the mid range is really cool. I would rather buy this over a Timmy or Ibanez.

Buy two of them and use a DOD switch pedal .. so you have one set for rhythm and other for lead… works fantastic that way for me ❤

This pedal makes me regret buying the Maxon OD-808. Not that the traditional tubescreamer is bad, it’s just this is a tubescreamer with much needed features. Doesn’t sound a pedal in the least either. I’m still going to buy a Maxon OD-9pro+ to run at 18v but I will also pick one of these up to swap in out of my pedalboard. I love it. It’s only $100. Another great tubescreamer MXR makes is the GT-OD. It’s better than the much more expensive Ibanez TS-808.

@PrymaxeVintage hey i have a ts9 something turbo tubescreamer and a fulltone full drive 2 nonmosfet on my current board and im looking for an over drive thats clean and bright, as soon as i heard this pedal i loved it from the start, and i was wondering if you would recommend the walrus mayflower or the bad ass o.d. by mxr? thanks

@PrymaxeVintage hey what would you recommend for me to get, the fulltone ocd or the mxr badass od? I want another od at my disposal, I already have a fulltone fulldrive 2 and a ibanez turbo tubescreamer, i want something for leads, i want to use the fulltone's regular drive as a nice clean overdrive and its boost to make the tone dirtier but not louder, and thats why i need another od ( i use the ibanez for soft slow songs that involve guitar swells) so ya what do you recommend the ocd or this

Yes. This is particularly good for that, because of the 100Hz control which can be used to cut those low frequencies.

I'm thinking of using this like a Tubescreamer to bring the mids + lows out in my 6505+ combo. God knows it needs it... Would this pedal be good for that? Sounds like it would.

Probably too much overdrive for me on most settings, but seems like a versatile pedal that could work well with different guitars and amps. It's not "a one-tone pedal", and I just bought one because I couldn't really explore it fully or fairly at the store. Had to take it home and try it.

I hesitate between the Maxon OD808 and this one. How they would sound on my VOXAC15H1TV with stock Vox blues in it? Is the MXR up to the magic of the OD808? Isn´t the MXR a little bit rougher, harsher than the Maxon? Have you any experience? Thanx for any answer.

I have the Maxon and I would say the MXR is more throaty. The Maxon is a little more compressed.

its wierd because If i run this pedal into my orange micro dark it works pretty good as a boost, but Ive tried it going into my di (clean) and theres hardly any gain! would i need to run it after my di? also with my orange , if i use it in the fx loop it sounds like garbage and is very noisey, but all the other overdrive pedals i tried only sounded good on the fx loop. i actually chose this one because it was good straight into the amp!

Prymaxe makes such good videos. But to be honest, remove the scrolling marquee at the bottom. It's very distracting and I miss some of the pedal settings while reading the marquee.

Bought this pedal and it should be called Baddass Noisy Overdrive...the noisiest overdrive pedal I have ever owned. The bump adds noise, the 100hz adds noise hell even the tone knob adds noise....most of these demo's must be using noise gates.
