So amazing. You are doing so much for your children. I am also using 180 days of spelling and IEW we use Abeka and novel studies etc for other stuff. I love homeschooling and love seeing diversity in the homeschooling community. My family thinks I am crazy butpublic schools are failing so many children.
The way this world is headed, I’m seriously considering homeschooling my kids when that time comes. At least until high school if they still want/need that high school experience. Ill definitely find a way to keep them social and have friends because of course I wouldn’t want them to be that “homeschooled” kid haha
This is such a helpful video! I need help getting us back on a routine, and to encourage some independence. I’m actually going to show my 9 and 11 yr old sons, to inspire them as well. Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing! I love checking in on your channel because my 3 kids are very close in age to yours- 12, 4, and almost 3 so I totally get it Mama! 😆❤️ it’s a busy house but it certainly helps having our oldest almost completely independent. Those big kids can definitely handle it. Your daughter is so sweet! Anyway, doing good Mama Bear! 👏🏻😃❤️
I love your homeschool routine. I feel so alone now. My daughter is in the fourth grade and very independent. It seems like it happened overnight😢She’s the only one left I homeschool so, it’s a bit bittersweet. I hope math works out for you. I’m thinking of switching math curriculum. Right now she’s doing Saxon math 5/4. We are doing a free trial on TT to see how that goes. I’m definitely loving your new hairdo!
Aww yes it is so bittersweet, seeing that she does not need me anymore😩. I know with it being your last kiddo to homeschool it is hitting differently😭. I feel blessed that I have 2 more kiddos coming up that I can start the process with from the beginning. Best of luck with your Math switch as well. 😍
@@brittanyolga Thank you! Yes! You are lucky. I am becoming a grandma soon so, if I’m blessed to be around long enough I can homeschool my grandkids lol.
This was really inspiring to see. My nearly 12 yo has also become very independent and it is heart-warming to hear that it can result in more indepth learning through taking ownership. My daughter's issue is time management. She just doesn't get through enough each day and is often still doing school at 4:30. I wanted the afternoons to be times that allow her to follow her interests like art. I am hoping that she will come to the realization that if she puts focus in her morning subjects, she gets more time to do her loves. But there is no way she would do math at 7:30 in the morning! It's the dreaded subject, even though she is doing fine in it.
Aww I am so happy to hear that this video was inspiring to watch 🥰. It is so exciting when they are independent and thriving! Math was a dread for us at some points in our homeschooling journey too. But now my daughter wants to get it over with lol 😆
We have a club called “Focus Friends” for homeschoolers. The club helps students focus on a key task that they don’t particularly enjoy. The club meets over Zoom. At the beginning of the club, each student spends a minute sharing what they are going to focus on. Then the club leader puts everyone on mute for 30 minutes to “focus” on achieving the goal. After that members celebrate by relaxing and socializing. You might find something like that helpful to practice both time management and focus. Than you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing; this gave me great insight into independent homeschooling schedules. My child isn't as independent yet, but watching your videos gives me hope that this is a minor obstacle I can overcome with my daughter.
I am so happy to hear this video was helpful. Trust the process your child will be independent before you know it. Our homeschool did not always look like this but with continuous motivation and setting realistic expectations for my daughter we was able to accomplish this new routine. Best of luck in your homeschooling journey.😊
This is really great, it awesome watching them grow and becoming more educationally independent. I may have missed the test break down, but how did the standardized testing process go. We are in GA as well and I's love your insight. Thanks!
I need to make an update video on standardized testing. Especially since testing season is coming in the spring. If you are in a testing year the best website for Ga to go to is ghea.org/standardized-testing/. Hopefully this helps. 😊
I absolutely love Briella's independent routine! It's perfect timing to free up your time for the younger ones in kinder/elementary. Looking forward to your Math update! I have a question about piano. When did Brielle start, and did she start with lessons first? Thank you 😊
Thank us so much !!! And yes her independent routine really has come in hand especially since I do have a rising kindergarten and Pre-k kiddo. We started piano last year through Hoffman Academy online and it has been great. ❤️
Her science looks like a good fit do you have a review on it and do you plan to use it for next year? Also I was curious on what does your daughter uses to learn the piano 🎹
Thank you so much !!! Listen !! everyday is a new day some are more challenging than others. I just try my best to motivate my kiddos and myself, no secret sauce lol we just take one day at a time. 🙈
Loved seeing your day! I must have missed it…but are you doing a formal science curriculum or are you putting your own together? I was trying to figure out which one she was doing.
Aww thanks Lauren !!! Yes we ditched our formal science and we have been using more living books and our encyclopedia. Bri loves it because she can read the books and do the assignments on her own. I have been on Teachers pay Teachers getting all of the freebies too 🙈.
Yes, I do have a video on how I put this unit together I will link it below for you .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OO6qwRt9xhk.html 😊
Just curious. Does your daughter watch the Math U See videos before each lesson? If not, I highly recommend them. Same with your little ones too. My daughter has been almost independent with math since 1st grade because Mr. Demme teaches her the lesson and then I just help as needed. We’ve use Math U See from the beginning in Primer and are now on Gamma (3rd grade) We love the simplicity of the lessons and that it doesn’t take long to complete a worksheet. 😊👍🏻
Yes, she does watch the videos at the beginning of each lesson. She has really been loving the simplicity of Math u see. It has really been a breath of fresh air. 🥰
I seen you used to use Saxon math. Which do you prefer? I’m new to homeschooling. We started this November with my 6th grader and I’m trying to figure out the right one for next year. She does not like videos or online teaching methods. Thanks for any insight! I think you and your kiddo are amazing!
Very nice I have problem with my sister she is 11 years olds and She homeschooling and her first language is not English it is hard for her study in English can you give me some tips thank you so much😊
Are you all still doing saxon or did you switch to math u see? I'm debating what math to use... We are at lesson 75 in Level 4 TGTB but retaining is not happening. If so do you have a video on why you switched? Wondering if I'm missing it. I'm currently looking at Saxon or Math u See.
awesome video . I have a fourth grader who is getting more independent too. what extra curricular activities do you do? we try to fit in what we can, but it is hard to do.
Thank you so much 😊! We don’t do any extracurricular activities outside of the house at the moment. However, I do want to sign her up for some classes she is interested in the future. It is hard with my toddlers at the moment to commit to anything else. 🙈
Love your videos, when you change curriculum in 2nd semester do you start on ch1 or do you try to get on the sequence of the previous math where you last stopped?
Thank you so much !! When we are trying out new curriculum. I usual go straight to the test until we reach concepts she doesn’t know then we will start the lesson practice from there. I don’t try to match it up perfectly but just go off of her past knowledge and match it as best as I can with the new curriculum. Hopefully this helps. 😍
Dear Brittany, Our founders, Sumay and Aila Lu, would like to interview you and your daughter for our school. We are a virtual private school that primarily serves homeschoolers in self-directed learning. We provide tools, resources, and stories like yours to help our students make the most of the freedom that homeschooling provides. We conduct these interviews over Zoom at the guests convenience. Thank you for your consideration!
Okay but how do you get them to be independent? What age? I have a 7 year old and I can't wait to have him be more independent and then I can actually do some things for me too.
I will make a video all about the details!!!! In short both math curriculum are very strong and excellent it was just a personal preference for my daughter since she was able to see the program first hand with her younger sister (Math-u-see Primer). ❤️
We actually aren’t using one. I have piece a little space unit together for my daughter using the DK encyclopedia and Teachers pay Teachers free printables. ☺️
@@brittanyolga oh man…that’s a great idea! Maybe next year when I am not flying by the seat of my pants I can put things together but this is my first year homeschooling and I have no clue what the heck I’m doing yet😂
