Definitely would love more videos like this one! 👏🏼 my granddaughters (5 & 7) hear your voice from across the house and come running at me literally shouting “MIMI, is that Nurse Neisha??”, I say “yes girls, it’s Nurse Neisha” and then they say “We LOVE Nurse Neisha!” 😊 But then of course the next question is “where is Dr. Berry?” 😂 if you couldn’t tell… we absolutely ADORE you both at our house 🥰 thank you so much Neisha for all your hard work you put into helping ALL of us who are listening 🤗🤗🤗
I had Hashimotos - I couldn’t stand taking thyroid meds so I weaned myself down to a very low dose and stared an elimination diet rice only diet. It’s a diet from the 30’s from an old doc. On the second day my heart started racing and my eyes were building just like when ur meds are too high so I lowered them 2 more times then stopped (the tiny pieces of pills were almost nothing) and over a week my heart beat was normal and my eyes were not bulging. I tried adding foods back in and found that soy (from mayo and soy lecithin and soy protein) dairy, eggs, wheat/gluten would make me fall asleep then raise my blood pressure. I got rid of all of it and got a blood test done after 3 weeks - thyroid levels normal, antibodies that were 3600 when I was first diagnosed that were 700+ while on meds was down to 100. It’s a bit of a challenge refiguring my food - I’m not carnivore and am not convinced it’s good for me but getting the other ingredients out of my diet cured me. I think Paleo is prob best - it’s the big pharma additives to process foods and the vac and grain they feed the animals that messed me up. Don’t get me started on mRNA commercial poultry/meats...hard pass. Just FYI, I’m not a doc. This was my personal journey...peace 😊
I found this super helpful! I reintroduced 3 strawberries to my diet and in no time I was scoffing 1.5 lbs a day with no self control. I had headaches, a sore belly, increased eczema and flushing. I know now never to eat them again and I’m sure I would be the same with almond butter as I’ve never been able to control that. One spoonful leads to a jar (not quite :). The only foods you can eat day in day out without negative symptoms are meats, I find. Everything else benefits from being rotated. For me anyway. Would love to see part 2 of these case studies, thanks.
Thank you! Your explanation was just what I needed to hear. It helps having someone talk through the steps and how the process works. Keep doing what you are doing! You are making a difference in this world.❤
This video was super helpful…and answered a lot of questions. It was like you read my mind as I’ve been keto and trying to stay carnivore to see if it will help my Hashi’s. I just read Dr. Berry’s book, “Lies My Doctor Told Me”. If you’ve been around awhile, like me, you’re trying to unlearn all the nutrition and lifestyle advice you took to heart when you were young. I’ve tried so hard for so many years to get my thyroid antibodies down below 2500. After awhile you feel like a failure. Keto has done great things for my metabolic panel. Having you explain the elimination diet and knowing you can keep stepping in the right direction without an “all or nothing” approach feels so doable. Neisha, you and Dr. Berry have been a godsend. If I can implement this and teach my daughters who both have autoimmune issues too, it will be such a blessing. Thank you! 17:02
You’re a very amazing soul! Been watching Dr. Berry since 2016. You guys are amazing. Love your journey and I am doing my journey and I love to follow more closely. The hardest part is getting healthy and not being able to get my family and friends on board with me. They see my health improve my life improve and still no go for them.
Like we did with our son at 17. Wish we did it when he was younger. Tremendous results. Dairy was the problem all these years. Since I already knew i was sensitive to dairy, we saved it for last on reintroduction. He immediately got a migraine with vomiting. My daughter 30 now recently did it & when dairy was reintroduced she felt like crap & had a panic attack. Another one that she had a reaction to was bananas which caused acid reflux.
I dont even had to cut out so much food to understand dairy was a problem for me too. I woild have icecream a few days a week along with yogurt and raw cheese . And i would have migranes and swallen face , slowly i got under eye bags. I cut out dairy and in 3 days i was back to normal.Thinking back now i thought that i had gluten sensitivity but no it was the dairy because i had gluten everyday after that and i still continue to improove.
I am getting ready to start another elimination diet. I have a birthday tomorrow and I’m knocking at menopause door. Foods that I could eat just a few weeks ago my body is like nope not anymore. I feel like I’m starting all over again. I need to get back into the community that did help. Thank you for your awesome videos!
You are so right 👍 About dairy. First i quit milk, then yogurt, then cream/mascarpone. Then i eat less cheese trying to eliminate it. Eating the last package, not buying again hopefully. At least some weeks. It's so hard, im dairy addicted too. 😢
Very helpful information Neisha. I tried many things, nothing has been sustainable past 8 weeks. I'll have to try again. Maybe I'll use the community for guidance😘
This makes so much sense and is VERY helpful! I am eating carnivore and trying to figure out what I might add back (like chicken salad vs plain chicken or a few pecans etc). Thanks so much for this!!
This was a great example, Neisha, and I took lots of notes! One thing that I found helpful when I was doing an elimination diet years ago, was having a symptom sheet to go through when reintroducing, which covered all kinds of things like runny nose, itchy palms, and other allergy-type symptoms to remember to keep track of. Like you said, you can't always remember your symptoms when you're filling out a chart! Wonderful info--I especially liked the bit at the end in "keeping an eye out for trigger foods" like things that now taste sweeter after we've broken the craving cycle. They may not necessarily hurt us, but can trigger cravings again or binging. Great advice, Thanks so much for all you do!
I enjoyed the case study. Thanks for adding this in. I’m someone who has swung the pendulum but finds it hard to be patient and systematic. You have shown the value in doing it this way.
This was very helpful! I’ve been ketovore for quite some time, but lately I’ve been having symptoms when eating certain foods but I’m not sure which ! Need to try this out 😊
I love this Neisha. I am just starting to work with some clients in a support group setting and having your experience and ideas of just how to get "Rosie" to own her own changes are great. Giving her choices etc instead of suggestions/telling her what to do. I love it.
That's how I've done it by myself. I was eating many fruit. Then i ate 1 apple a meal. Then half an apple. And now quarter an apple. Slowly combating fruit addiction. Not abruptly. That's better. I am fruit addicted so it's works better this way.
Thank you for talking us through the process of the elimination diet. I’ve been Keto for about 4 years and have been leaning towards carnivore. When I was about 3 months into the lifestyle my psoriasis disappeared but now it’s come back. It may be the heavy cream or the cheese so I’ve started going without the cream. I’ll see how it goes. I hope it is that! Love Emma xx
Thank you for this video. No wonder I can’t have nightshades. They bring so much flavor to foods. Dairy brings a creamy texture and lovely strong aroma. Eggs also bring a texture to ground beef. I follow the autoimmune protocol, but only eating 20 grams of carbs a day. My husband misses how I used to cook for him. He’s wanting my homemade sourdough pizza with homemade everything on top.
It says part 1 so I am hoping there will be more. I enjoy your videos and learn a great deal. Struggling right now it’s high blood sugars they are creeping down, just not nearly as fast as two years ago. A work in progress, study of N1!
That was a very interesting and informative video. I found the details to be extremely helpful, because I too have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s………Thank you so much! I would really love to hear more about which vitamin supplements you take for Hashimoto’s Disease (along with starting the keto carnivore program) ❤
This is a great example of how to start. I wish my sister would listen to you guys. She has a severe auto immune disease. They thought it was ms or longitudinal transverse myelitis. Now they don’t know for sure what it is. She drags her right leg and walks with a walker. This strayed when she was in her 40s. She is now 53. 😢
I know how frustrating that it can be especially with people we love. ❤️ just keep showing her by example and hopefully one day soon she will be willing to watch sweet Neisha. 🙏🏻
Thank you 9 months Carnivore and recently realized I must have a reaction to tomatoes worse than I thought bc I got bored on carnivore for a few days and had a slice of tomato and some tomato sauce. My husband isn't carnivore, so I taste his food sometimes....to much. My arthritis in my hands was hurting again. I also need to eat less cream cheese, sour cream and cream in my coffee I guess. Probably why my weight loss is slow. However, I have improved in so many ways in 9 months. I am on thyroid medication are you still on some? Thank you for your videos.
Neisha, it would be very beneficial to look into alternate day fasting on a keto or carnivore diet. Easiest way for people to lose body fat long term without destroying their endocrine system AND keep it off.
I don’t work with people wanting to lose weight. I work with people who are focused on decreasing inflammation, pain and other symptoms mainly from autoimmune diseases.
@@NeishaSalasBerry even better. The weight loss is the bonus. All other dis-eases will disappear with fasting. “These do not come out but by fasting and supplication “
Love your simple explanation. I'm currently on AIP, working with a Functional Med Group. They highly promote vegs & protein. I put a stop to as much vegs; trying to get my gut to feeling better. Your video, though, was excellent!
Great content! Thank you! I'm doing lion diet because I discovered that I'm allergic to so many foods so I wanted to make sure that I can eat carnivore foods, turned out that im allergic to eggs, butter, and even chicken! I learned a lot from AIP and Keto, but they were not enough for me. Now I feel so much better on the lion diet (2months in) but getting sick of the red meat to be honest and wondering if I will be able to recover 100%. By the way, I'm doing this to heal an autoimmune condition called Myasthenia gravis, and it's working 💗
Great video! Keto since February. My only problem is that I’ve lost too much weight. 53 year old female 5’1” and 88 lbs. It’s hard for me to eat enough food. Any advice? Please. 🙏🏻
I eat a whole food diet concentrating on meat and i exercise as well. I don't feel stressed. I do not sleep well still. Will magnesium help and which magnesium should I take. Recommendations please?
What form of magnesium doesn't give diarrhea? I have to avoid it all together since it has a laxative effect but I know how crucial magnesium is. Also every electrolyte brand (I love Elete tabs and liquid additive) has CHLORIDE, why doesn't LMNT have it? Do they consider sodium has it as in salt = sodium chloride? My electrolyte blood tests are always a bit low on sodium and chloride.
What happens if you follow this approach and don’t see an improvement in symptoms? I have tried 30 days carnivore and 100 days of a low oxalate lectin free ketogenic diet (essentially a carnivore diet with onions, broccoli, and stevia) and saw no improvement. Is the next step to do a lion diet, and how long should I try that before determining diet won’t help me?
