@Keevaro, I had a '68 Camaro SS in high school! Total sleeper. Had the Eidelbrock High Rise and switching from the OG Quadrajet to the Holley 650 double-pumper never got my previous times again! Just couldn't get the mix right! Sob, then that 4X4 Ford Pick up pulled out in front of my in October of 1980 and The End. Sob.

Nothing beats the right tool for the job. Vice grips and plyers can do a lot but never get it just right. Especially crimping. Maybe grampa needs to hold a class in an upcoming vid.....Just sayin'. I've watched a lot of YT how-tos on dialing in carbs, but I almost always learn something new each time.

I love your Mustang since day one. Keep it for life, like your kin did theirs. Maybe, perhaps, one day, your offspring will ride in it, will hear your stories, and have their own. You been blessed since you bought that car, never had to tear into the internals on that motor, and you have given it hell and enjoyed it. Wishing you a happy future Four Speed Films....

I just got my 65 on the road over here in the UK. Had to replace my carb with a new one and it sorted out most of the issues. I need to clean up the intake like you have done here but while its working I will leave it. probably a winter job for me now while its running.
@brian4575
@brian4575 3 года назад
I know it's a little late, but while it is possible your intake was milled to match milled heads. I noticed with the "new" intake you used the FelPro blue gaskets that have a raised bead on them. They are meant for cast iron intake manifolds, so with an aluminum one, it won't "crush" enough to seal. I didn't see what gaskets you used to reinstall old intake with, if they are the same blue ones, then that shoots this idea down. I believe Edelbrock and other alum intake companies recommend Fel Pro #1250 for SBFs, and they do recommend 1/4 bead of silicone vs the cork end gaskets (which push out). Good on you putting silicone on water ports only, it will get eaten by the gasoline eventually on the intake ports. Great content, keep wrenchin!

Stang is sounding healthy Ben! Glad you have a couple of old school hot rooms to help out and guide you. The car seems to run smoother with good power delivery. The updates under the hood look great and are a big improvement. If the block has been decked it can throw off the manifold sealing surfaces. I think you guys did good figuring that out. May you have smooth straight roads ahead. Great job!

The journey begins. Next will be a double pumper (telling you from experience, no choke required in So Cal) and a fat wallet and you'll be a member of the 7 mpg club! I can't tell by your videos, but an MSD ignition box will give you a world of low end power! Once you go there, you can't live without it. Happy gear banging!

You are doing great!! Love your videos, very professional!!! Time for Holley to step up and sponsor you with a upper engine kit with new intake, aluminum heads, rockers, roller cam & lifters then top it off with one of their super cool fuel injection systems!! You can do some really in depth videos of the entire install, it would be awesome!! And, OMG, the old green Mustang would definitely Rip when you get done!!!!! COME ON HOLLEY!!!!!

I think I should consider a Holley two barrel carb for mine again. My grandpa said that a conversion to 4 bbl wouldn't really be worth it for power gains and you would lose some low-end torque. But if I'm gonna convert the car over to manual shift from the C4 automatic I need a smoother running engine. I still have the factory equipped 2 barrel and had to get it rebuilt and it still feels a little jerky even after my grandpa and I re tuned it.

Why not compare old intake to new, to see if it was milled to suit the heads. Just match them up one upside down and see if the carb flanges are parallel, can level one intake then use angle gauge to determine delta. Or do with some less rube Goldberg method....
