I'm SO glad I didn't need to use the Buddy insurance... but i was SO glad i paid the $11 for it... that crash could've ended up WAY worse! (lucky for the big sand pit....with a bunch of dead branches in it! 😂 )

That's the case with me and shimano brakes evix circle of leaks. And my mech hanger bending on my 2014 fuel ex, I slowly solved the issues, proper grips, d1x trail shifting, solves fit issues, eliminates thumb tip pain, and fatigue, now need to build up proper bike with proper suspension. Recent upgrade I guess was to switch back to mechanical brakes. TrpSpyke dual piston, no i am done with leaking shimano brakes I think I should give up, I am losing hope, mechanical brakes you can atleast adjust wire tention, as temporary fix while riding, but hydraulics leak and then to u can't brake properly, brakes overheat, gets so hot that rotor gets oilslick, overheat colours, and glazed, oil ebrywhere on calipers, braking hard and lever goes almost or to the bar, not good defenitly not in a race like this. That race was too scary for me, the cliffs, that's too much for me, I need to be far away from those, if cliffs not more than one to 3 m I guess, or it's too scary, no way to bail. Never rode that fast, no where I can i think where live, , unless on long road no traffic.
@mtbboy1993
@mtbboy1993 4 года назад
@@TheCrashingDad u did good on the scary stuff, but messed up on easy stuff, maybe fatigue messing u up? I probably could do that no handed or one handed thing, but risky on unstable surface, like dirt, mud, rocks, so unless on asphalt best to stay away from doing that, unless really stable surface like hard dirt, but I only take hand off when I need to so for drinking hose, just few secs, once u are fatigues u can't balanced as easy, so doing riskier stuff like this can easier go wrong. I haven't raced any race, I don't Cound racing random dudes when I was a kid. 😂

Thanks!.... Dude... I feel SOOOO STABLE 🤘🏼 normal pedals make me feel like my ankles are going to break .. But they're pretty heavy 🤷‍♂️ The Rev grips: when I grab the grip (the feel on your hand)...I much prefer ergon grips...or even the ESI grips... Those feel way better in the hand... BUT... And it's a BIG "BUT": After an hour of riding, I get severe hand pain in the base of my thumb... But with rev grips, I get ZERO pain... Even after 4-6 hours! Whereas, with the grips I think feel good/better, I get pain after an hour 🤷‍♂️ That's my two cents...

Im looking at getting the YT Capra Al Comp, and would like to know if it (a 160mm f/r travel bike) is hard enough to pedal that it will make me second guess the long travel 29er.
@TheCrashingDad
@TheCrashingDad 5 лет назад
Hmmm... Short answer: No (in my opinion)... It's so hard to find bikes that are "bad" nowadays 🤷‍♂️ Long answer: you WILL notice the difference when you ride something that's more efficient. I have a long travel 27.5 (2018 Rocky mountain altitude) and the short travel 29er (2015 transition smuggler)... And I DEFINITELY notice that the Altitude is harder to pedal around COMPARED to the Smuggler... But after a half hour my body adapts to the way the Altitude rides, and all the little micro adjustments you unconsciously make when riding a bigger bike (like the slightest weight shift forward when climbing...or the different body English it takes to maneuver in slow technical terrain)... I know plenty of people who just have one bike, and it's a long travel 29er...and they haven't ridden any other bikes, don't know any better ..and are just fine, all day everyday on their bike 🤷‍♂️🤘🏼 For ME... I rode the Rocky Mountain Instinct 140/140 29er..... And then the BC version 155/160 29er.... And the regular 140 DOES climb better... But the BC edition doesn't give up very much on the climbs, for the extra confidence it gives on the descents.... The trade off was definitely worth it. Of course, your opinions, riding style, trails...etc all come into play.... Sorry if this wasn't helpful 😬😂🤦‍♂️

Great story, but bad luck. This video is the exact reason I stopped racing. So, over it. Just better to ride for me, and not the clock.

Coming out of that speed trap and around that rock table, yeah I'll pass, I dont know why I would rather hit a tree at that speed, but that made me cringe.
@TheCrashingDad
@TheCrashingDad 5 лет назад
Lol... Yeah... I've ridden that spot ALOT...and you can pretty much not touch your brakes up to the point eight after the speed trap...then you've got to really get it under control 😬 a pre-ride definitely helps...

Too bad it was your shifter that broke off and not your brakes. Then you would have beat that Nate Hills guy on the Wine Glass.

Lol 😂🤣😂 I didn't use my brakes on the wine glass until AFTER the speed trap! 🤷‍♂️😂 Maybe I could've used my top gear to push a few more Mph 🤔
