Hey Folks, been a little while. I keep meaning to say thank you to everybody for watching my vids and I enjoy all the comments I get. I've left USX. I don't regret working for them...I learned a lot there but it was time to move on. I've gone to John Christner Trucking and am doing a lease/purchase with them. In a mere 20 years this baby will be mine!! LOL, it's not that bad. Really like the truck! It's got a longer wheel base, 10" deeper sleeper, more goodies, an APU AND Freightliner has made a few changes with the engine since 2011. BUT, best of all IT'LL BE MINE ONE DAY!!!As of 04/01/12 I'm one month into the lease. I'm getting settled in and think I'll be happy here...I hope, stay tuned.

I'm a kenworth guy. But I'd drive this cascadia any day. Looks like a comfortable ride. Something that's needed driving over the road. Wasn't a fan of the old freightliners like the columbia. I'd have no problem driving something like this. Nice rig you have, I'm jealous.

Very nice truck, Driver! I Love Freight-Shakers. I also drove for USX back in 2005. The reason I left them is because, The used me to go into the rail yards, especially in Chicago; the preplan would say, Chicago to SLC as a for instance, However; Just about the time I'd get south of Chicago, the Qual-com would beep! The msg would read, We have a team that is going to re-power that load". So, I and lots of others were just "GOPHERS" for teams!!!Louisiana Woman said that! Stay safe!

My dad owns a small steel fabrication company and weve ran a 86 volvo for years so finally i talked him into getting a new truck as the 86 had many problems and the transmission was starting to slowly break its self apart

The camera is Bendix AutoVue.. used to be Iteris (eye-tare-is).. Yes.. the system will sound digital rumble strips basically when the center of the rear tandems are over the right or left line.. there's some wiggle room

Hey guys, I don't know about working for them in the 60's, John started the company in 1987, (This is they're 25th anniversary.) As far as making money leasing? Yea, you can. I was dead set against leasing for the longest time till I finally made the plunge. My "Fixed" weekly costs here are HIGHER than a few other companies out there and I'm doing OK. I'm averaging around $1,000.00 a week AFTER all my expenses.
@drbandach1
@drbandach1 12 лет назад
All that being said tho, I'm a hustler. I'm VERY careful about sitting too long at shippers/receivers and between loads. I'm also VERY careful about when, where and how much I fuel, (Improper fueling will kill your profits.) I was self employed for 7 years before driving so I already had that experience. Leasing is the same as being self employed...you HAVE to treat it as YOUR business.

Yea, I was kinda hoping for a 13 speed. When we did our road tests, it was in a IH 9400...but it was a 13 speed but all they're newer trucks are 10's

@ConwayTruckload

I drive for Prime. As you may know Mr Christner is good friends with the owner of Prime (Robert Lowe) and they share each others freight. I also have a cousin and a couple of friends who run team for JCT. That is a good company but only issue I have with them is your paid by the mile pulling reefer freight. In may of their loads your only getting 55% to 65% of what the load actually pays especially if its a produce load. That being said JCT would be my 2nd choice if every I left Prime.

😊 Hey DARKESTFORD, it's not cable. Theres two antennas on the truck, ones for the CB and the others for the radio and the TV. I do get great reception pretty much anywhere I go but if not...there's always the blue ray...which I've switched out for a PS3.

DARKESTFORD, PS: you CAN get satellite for your truck too. Most of the truck stops sell either a "cube" looking thing OR a mini satellite dish. I think they run around $300.00 plus your monthly subscription.

Nice vid man you just forgot 1 most important thing to show us. THE ENGINE!!! If its either a DD 14 15 or 16 you will spend a lot of money just on the oil change. good luck though.

I like your cooler where can I get one?
@drbandach1
@drbandach1 12 лет назад
Wow! OK, where do I start. Freightliner offers the Cascadia in a 60" or 70" sleeper, (not a 72") check their website and brochures. Yes, it's the same 10 speed as USX, but my rpm's , hp and torque are set differently than USX...I can get up to 2,200 R's here, I could only get up to about 1,600 at USX. I know how to measure wheelbase, this truck is 12" longer than USX.

FTHRCAST...the sleeper is 70" DEEP, that's from the back wall to the back of the front seat...NOT from left to right! My sleeper, AND BED is 90" from side to side, THAT'S 7 1/2 FEET! How is that not enough room to lay down? If you don't know what your talking about when you post...you just look like a fool 😞 Invest in a tape measure and experiment with it.
