Great setup, currently in the market for a new yak exploring some options. Hobbies seems to be the only option I keep going back to. Thanks for the video, I'm very interested in your lighting setup
***** cool thanks for the reply, right off to get my thinking cap on. thinking ive a few large airsoft batterys that went in AEG,s from way back, they could be just thye thing, i dont fancy lugging a car bat around.
geoff saunderson I'm sorry it took so long for me to reply, just the weight difference between the batteries is definitely noticable when out on the water. Good luck and if you can post pics of your setup somewhere so I can see how you did!
Bob, forget what jumpbump says. If one doesn't like the music, then hit mute. I thought you covered the boat really well. The devil is in the details. And being able to really look closely at stuff is what is helpful. I've seen too many vids that just skim over but don't show the details. You know...those vids that are only 1:30 secs long. How much for you to come do my new yak?
Hey, thanks for the reply on cutting into the PA. My switch panel comes in today so I'll probably do it tonight. I have another question. What did you use to attach your deck mount to the monopod for the gopro?
I used a scotty mount. It was tough getting my hands in there to install it. After being on the water though I'm not really a fan of the scotty mount. It's tough to articulate the arm, when your on the water. I wished I would have done a ram mount some how but the only thing I like about scotty over ram is that I think it would be easier to have the monopod and camera fall over board while loosening it. That's the only place scotty has ram beat. In my eyes. With that panel, remember to install a negative wire and a positive wire to the whole board, and not just the switches. This will make the lights on the switches light up. I made this mistake and had to redo it. Good luck! I'd like to see how yours turns out.
Nice. Where did you find the lights and switch panel? Also do you use a separate battery for the lights or do you use the fishfinder battery for everything?
Thanks man...I got the lights from pavour outdoors. Talk to Greg, hes the man. I got the switch panel for jmsonline.net. You have to search their site to find it. I do use a separate battery for the lights and usb hub. The battery that runs them is located in the 8" rear hatch. I cut some of the plastic dividers so the battery would fit. My fish finder battery is located under my seat, inside the kayak. Thanks again for the comment.
Very interested in this. Getting one soon. Looking to get seadek flooring, h bar, fish finder, led lights{maybe wildcat}, go pro stuff. Need help and suggestions please! Your setup is so sick!!!!
Man, that's a nice looking boat! I was wondering, is there anyway you can show (or tell me) how did you wire your lights to the switches? I know NOTHING about electricals and how they work...Im trying to find out more about how switches work for dummies but no luck..haha
thanks man! I can tell you that the wiring is a pain, but once you figure it out in your head it gets easier. Basically each of those strips you see have 2 wires, a red and a black. The red wires go to the switch. The black wires get tied in together. Im probably making this tougher on you now lol I don't really have any pictures of the actual wiring inside the kayak. but feel free too message me and I can always help you work through the process.
I ordered the panel from jmsonline.net, I then traced it on the spot where I wanted to place it. Took a drill and started a hole in the corner and then used a jig saw to cut out the rest. I was a little worried about putting a hole that big in my yak but once you cut it out and see all the foam that is inside the pro angler, it will put you at ease. Just remember to silicon around everything. If you need any more help, let me know.
Hey I've been trying to find out everywhere but no luck! What is the width of the boat where your cooler is. Like how wide can a cooler fit there or how wide it the cooler you have? Thanks in advance.
I don't have the exact dimensions handy, but if you ever frequent the hobie cat forums there was a thread that had them, my cooler is an igloo 54 qt. It fits perfectly in the space. www.kmart.com/igloo-marine-cooler/p-089W636783660001P?prdNo=17&blockNo=17&blockType=G17
I can try and do a video but I unfortunately lost all my pics of the actual install process. Let me see what I can do and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Garrett Demers what would like too see in a video? I can't get behind the switch to show how I wired it up but I could always talk to you in a private message to walk you through it.
Thank you. I have an ecox gear Bluetooth speaker. It works great. It has a 1/4 twenty thread on the bottom of it, I ran a bolt up through my cooler lid and that's where I mounted my speaker.
There's actually a large green strip on each side of the kayak, the green lights are considered fishing lights. I also have navigation lights on the kayak. They are on separate circuits so I can run just the navigation lights or just run the fishing lights or run both. I am aware of the colors.
***** Fair enough. I would not have gone with green since it looks like it over powers the red navigation light on the port side and if I was on another boat that would throw me off. I would have gone with white or blue lights, but to each their own I guess.
I understand what your saying, but like I said its all on separate circuits so I can just use the fishing lights without having nav lights on, thanks for watching my video and commenting.
Lol john, no problem! www.jmsonline.net/catalogsearch/result/index/?p=3&q=panel+switch & www.poutdoors.com/ talk to greg at pavur outdoors, guy is a class act. You can tell him that bob in ohio recommended him.
So....you should be here in 2 days? I sooooo want to get the lights done before season starts. Want to do more night fishing in the bay....maybe a little bit off shore too into the gulf
