My 2019 Acura RDX blew up at 74000 miles. Rip you were a good car while you lasted.

really didn't want to come out like this but I'm just so sick of all these new cars literally not making 100 000 miles anymore. Whether they're designed to fail or not remains the real question. How can you make a vehicle so good and give it lackluster reliability so unfortunate and I still can't process it fully. I really want to just keep driving it after it's fixed but maybe I got a 🍋 and it's best to part ways...
Hopefully this isn't a trend with this new 2.0 turbo from Honda/Acura

I had the same issue with my 2021 Acura RDX, which has 40,000 miles on it. I visited 3 different dealerships, but none could find the leak. They suggested it was common and made me to buy coolant and refill it every 5,000 miles. Thank you so much for sharing this video, now I understand the actual reason for the coolant leak.

I just saw your 65,000 mile review and I was going to make a comment on it and this one pops up. Sorry for your troubles. I had a 2019 RDX Platinum. Took it in for an oil change and walked out with a 2021 Platinum Elite. My lease is ending soon and needing to decide what to do. As to the engine, I have always found that Honda/Acura engines seem to be a little more 'high strung'. Smaller displacement with more power than the competition. They seem to be reliable but maybe you just got a bad gasket. I have had all 4 tire pressure sensors go, one at a time, at about 2 months between failures. I attribute it to a bad batch of batteries.

This is a prime example of why auto manufacturers should not use forced induction on small engines to just perform and out perform their bigger displacement engines of the past. To some degree they have accomplished the performance aspect; however, they’re showing not being up to the task as far as longevity. These engines are under extreme stress. I am noticing a trend. Turbo engines of the past did not fail as early as these newer turbo charged engines. So what changed? The only thing I’ve noticed that changed in turbo engines is the demand to produce peak torque at low RPM (1300, 1600, 1700, etc). The turbo engines of the past can be problematic but they were not failing under 100,000 miles with proper care. No thanks. I will keep my 5.0.

Old turbos barely made 8 lbs the rdx is 20.5 but many approaching 27+ out of a small turbo which creates immense heat and detonation issues if using poor fuel. @darrylcoleman3518 yes they're taking good care, loaner provided so I can't complain about that. I agree people are leaving that industry left right and center and new people aren't signing up to do it either. It's a big problem

3x 🍋 law. Just saying; they should have replaced coils and plugs during repair. Scam

Dealers always try to do as little as possible when doing these jobs because the manufacturer barely pays them hours. It's a top down problem and we pay for it unfortunately

Lemon law is one of the most difficult things to win. It literally has to be word for word the same description written up on the work repair. Technically it’s in the 4th repair, it’s after the 3rd repair. People don’t know that. And literally no company would lemon law a car with almost 80,000 miles. Trust me I went through a lemon law appeal on my 2021 Widebody ScatPack. Massively difficult.
@BCars_Garage

@Hellcat71782 how did it work out though? Also...side note although I'm more of a gm guy the widebodys scats are absolutely beautiful cars. I was just outside of Detroit and 2 widebody hellcat chargers were weaving in and out flew by me in my truck. Beautiful car

@@Hellcat71782 agreed my brother lemoned out his '21 Cherokee limited, was a pain but the lawyer was able to get it go through finally. You just have to stay on top of it and have that arbitration lawyer in your corner Pocket .

@@gsxellence like in my case 1st time I went to the dealership I said my car is low on coolant. 2nd time I said I think my car is leaking coolant. And when you try lemon lawing a car those 2 repairs aren’t worded exactly the same. So by law it’s 2 different repairs. That’s one of the ways they get you. They even flew out a SRT specialist to read the black box on my car. Tooo me 5 months on a car I bought cash to replace the motor with no loaner car. Lemon law is one of the hardest things to do. Nobody will lemon law a car with 78,000 miles on it. Nobody

Swap that crap motor into the old school J-serie 3.5L motor. You'll see 500k miles and not 70k miles, lol.

That’s why I’m trading in my 2013 TL for an MDX and not an RDX. I don’t like the idea of a turbo 4-banger, I’d rather have the bullet-proof V-6 like in my TL.

My sister bought a new 2022 MDX A SPEC when I got this thing. She does a lot less driving than me I think she has about 45000 miles give or take on it but trouble free and an absolute beauty of an suv

I thought the head gasket issue was related to the 1.5T’s. I am Still waiting to hear back about the defective fuel pumps after being informed about their unavailability. And then there is a MAJOR defect with the 3.5 J’s. Hard to believe they screwed up the crankshaft journals using CNC’s. Do they Not have Inspectors checking the specs/tolerances? The Boeing Factor has taken over at Honda - it is now Quantity Control! Also warped rotors, low quality exhaust systems, defective body welds and many, many….. other problems.

There's starting to be enough of these rdx's out there with higher mileage so if this is an ongoing issue it will become apparent fairly quickly

@BCars_Garage Pardon me, I should have mentioned that I am dealing with a 2019 Pilot. Pretty much the same, but could be different lots or batches of parts that are affected.

@BCars_Garage My ‘possible’ problem is ‘TBD’. Now that Honda is dealing with 500K fuel pump replacements, the engine issue is probably sidelined. A Neighbor had the engine on his Acura crap out. He junked it! If he knew he may have had a bogus engine, he could have had it replaced. Not a Happy Honda Owner for sure.
