My brother is running his first LA marathon in a couple weeks and sent me your video. Congratulations on what you've overcome. I have tears in my eyes listening to you and am so happy for you. Watched him finish the LB marathon. The atmosphere is awesome!
Hi Donna! Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to watch and hear my story. I’m grateful that it touched your heart.🤗 A big congratulations to your brother. He picked a great year to run his first Los Angeles Marathon. There is going to be so much entertainment on the course to help push him through. I’ve always wanted to do the Long Beach Marathon. Perhaps I’ll give it a shot next year. Sending your brother positive vibes for a great race. ~ Anthony
every year i love watching course videos or runner's videos to get my amped even more for the upcoming marathon run. had a few injuries and sicknesses this year that tanked my training plans, but man, this video was inspiring. got me ready to go out there and enjoy the run, which will be my 6th LA marathon. not going to care about time, or breaking a PR, just going to enjoy it. thanks for a great video!
Yay!! I freaking love hearing that. These kind of comments inspire me to keep on creating. My training hasn't been as good as I hoped also this season, but like you, I am going to go out there and have a blast. Cheering you on! If you see me at the expo please come say hello. ~ Anthony
Thank you!! Wow, really!? Maybe I’ll see you there. I can’t wait either! If you haven’t paid for it yet, save 10% by using our discount code: CLUBGRACE22
Well done Anthony!!! I have LA on my bucket list. I ran NYC marathon the same day and have a vlog on my channel. I loved the way you filmed this. And yes mile 20 always gets me no matter how well trained I am. But yoy crushed it. Thanks for bringing us with you!
Oh my goodness!! I would love to do NY. That is on my bucket list! I hope you are able to fulfill your bucket list and participate in LA on day. So much fun and possibly a little warmer than NY.😂 Thanks for the kind words and the heads up about your NY vlog. Gonna have to check it out.👍
Congrats on a great run! Thanks so much for taking us on your journey of 26.2 miles and sharing your story. I did the Charity Challenge 13.1 that day. But seeing you on the course reminded me of why I love running and the LA community. Running has been a huge tool for my healing in life as well. 🙏🏽
Great race. I was right behind you. I got a 5.20 time. Was my first marathon. I also was able to run the whole thing. You gave me advice on the hills and I had it in mind the whole time. Went at a good pace so i could run the whole time and make it to the end. Thanks for the tip. Congrats on your race.
Oh my goodness!! Love it!!🤗 Sounds like you also had an amazing experience. I’m so thrilled that my advice helped you. So, did you finish about the same form as Jocelyn? She came in about 15 minutes after me.
@@runningformybestlife I believe I came in right after her. I did 5 hours and 20 minutes. I found the turnaround so rough seeing people finish and knowing that you still had so many miles to go. Plus the up hill at the end was killer. But I was shocked that I was able to keep running and running. Legs had life of their own. LOL I will start training in a few days and keep going.
Incredible running Anthony! You really did yourself proud buddy! You absolutely crushed it! The race looked amazing! I love LA it really is a wicked place so diverse and fun. I would love the run the LA marathon. Maybe one day in the future we can run it together! Huge kudos for not stopping too mate! We'll done buddy! You are da man! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks Ben for all of your encouragement and kind words. I freaking love this Marathon. However, I would like to try out others such as London one day. You coming out to LA would be amazing!! I would be happy to show you guys around beforehand. Can’t come to LA and not enjoy what we have to offer other than an amazing marathon, right? 👍
@@runningformybestlife sounds like a plan buddy! I really hope I can get back over there one day soon. Even if we don't come for the marathon it would still be great to have a tour guide. Take care dude and enjoy your recovery! 😎🤘🏻
@@runningformybestlife, no more marathons for me. I have 2 halves coming up. That's as far as I'll go now. Congratulations again!!! Happy training!! 😉🏃
Not quite for an marathon, I did in the past ultramarathons, ironman competitions and other stuff like that. Now, I have time to train only for sub 21k races... But I have to get back to some longer races soon 😎
Awesome video! It was like I was back on the course😆🙌🏼.....So glad I got to meet you and Ive always believed things happen for a reason.....you couldve gotten discouraged because of the corral thing but you didnt and you did awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience and congratulations🎉Jen is the best....and not sure how I missed her😕...Ill just have to run it again😁
Thank you!! Yes, it was so awesome meeting you!! It really lifted my spirits. I gotta admit I was mad as hell, but then when I saw you guys it made it all alright. Yeah, you’re definitely gonna have to sign up again. Keep it going! Jen would love to meet you in person.🤗
Thanks for the video and the talk about overcoming challenges. Many of us can relate. "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."
Such a motivational and inspiring speech by the head coach. Love the commentary,...Having motivators along the way definitely helps. Congrats on goin all the way and finishing strong.. YOU are awesome!
You’re too kind. I appreciate that. Thank you for watching. Yes, Coach David always gives an inspirational speech before every big event. He’s the best! If you want to see more of him let me know and I can send you links from our nonprofits channel where we have more of him.👍😁
Nice work, Brandon!!💪 You probably came in while they were doing all of the festivities for Joselyn, right?🎉 Yeah, starting in the back and having to zig zag through others can be challenging. Was this your first one and are you gonna sign up for 2022? Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated.😁
Well done Anthony! That pain after Mile 20 helps us put into perspective all the joy & beauty we have in our lives and what we’ve overcome. And it will feel good when we finish and stop running! Thanks for sharing this adventure. Major kudos my friend!
@@runningformybestlife I haven’t quite committed to a marathon yet in 2022, mostly because 2019-2020 were riddled with injury (recurring ankle issue) and so I haven’t run nearly as much overall as I’d have hoped. Currently doing a run streak which I’m planning to keep up until the end of 2022, so I’m going to prioritize that. I can still train for a marathon and not take days off, doing a minimum mile to keep the streak going, but I’m just not sure if I want to do that yet. I’ve got a half marathon in may which was deferred from this year, where I’m going to aim for a PR, so HM training will start up early in the new year. I’m thinking I’ll do 40 miles for my 40th in July 2023, but that’s far enough away that I don’t really need to worry about it yet haha.
Well it will get here quicker than you expect haha. I hope your ankle is healing. On going injuries are so freaking annoying. Those run streaks are no joke. It always impresses me to see people keep at them for a prolonged period of time.
@@runningformybestlife thanks Anthony. Yeah so far after 40 days, the ankle feels good. I ran everyday in 2018, averaging a little over 4 miles per day, so I know I can definitely do it, but just gotta make sure I do lots of prehab and recovery to keep the ankle happy haha.
I was disappointed with the time I got but many people say you shouldn’t go for time on your first marathon. Im going to register again for the LA marathon next year. Great Video!
I completely agree with that. Your first marathon should just be to finish. Awesome! Glad to hear you’re going to register for 2022. What will your goal be? Maybe I’ll see ya. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing your experience Anthony, a preview of what is to come for me. So many familiar sites. I have driven Lyft since January 2015 and been through so many of those landmarks and intersections. Too think I will be running the whole way instead of driving a car. My primary goal will be to finish uninjured but I would really like to crush this course in a 4:30. You never know what will happen on race day. It isn't over until you cross the finish line. In the famous book of "Anatomy of an Illness" by Norman Cousins there is a title of one of the chapters that I always seem to remember. It is titled, "Pain is not the Enemy."
You’re very welcome! Happy that I was able to share my experience. It is definitely a much cooler experience running those streets than driving on them. I predict you’ll crush both of those goals. But most importantly, I hope you have fun doing it.😁
Congratulations on another 26.2 finish Anthony. It's amazing to see how large the running crowds are at those bigger marathons. I ran a marathon over the weekend also. Including half and full runners, it was about 650 runners that started off together. Lot's of energy out there for sure. It's always nice to see family and other supporters of ours along the course. Good job pushing through after mile 20. That is a tough one sometimes, especially with hills in a marathon. How different did this one feel with the course changes? Anyways, congrads again on the finish.
Nice!! How did yours go? Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, no matter how talented you are, anything after mile 20 is no joke. This one felt much harder, because of the rolling hills in the last 10k. The previous route was all downhill.
@@runningformybestlife I ran my pretty flat marathon at 4:17. I wasn't able to get much footage unfortunately. I am doing a recap video today and making it live tomorrow.
