Not a proper prediction but maybe I can manifest it by wishing lol. I would love to see more brands make mini versions of their palettes like sigil inspired has done. A lot of us never pan shadows and getting the same quality+colourstory with smaller size+cheaper is great.
This is one of the things that makes me hold back from Give Me Glow. 😕 They have some really pretty palettes, but they have huge pans, are super expensive, and international shipping is NOT cheap. $90 CAD for a single palette?! 😭 I haven't panned an eyeshadow since like 2005.
Did you tried this brand and their mini palettes? If yes - how often you use it and did you pan it? I wanna try the brand but this pans look so tiny and I don't really want to buy a big version
@@slowchan I have three of the mini palettes, the first one I got in January and I have used it a lot! The shade I always use as a transition shade has a visible dent in it but no pan yet.

I always wondered, why brows can't just be natural. Not too thin, not too thick...just nicely shaped to compliment our eye shape! As @villapulla mentioned, I would love to see mini versions and not only in eyeshadow palettes, but also in highlighters or blushes. I never hit pan in any of those!
I'm with you but brows are part of trends.. it's like, doesn't matter if your big nose goes great with the rest of your face, you need a tiny nose. doesn't matter if big lips look bad on you, you need to have them. and doesn't matter either if you have to go on a diet to be skinny, or you end with anorexia nervosa, you have to be skinny. trends don't look up to what goes right with you but what it's hot in that moment, it's really sad and dangerous.
I see many beauty youtubers talking more and more about candles and perfumes lately, so my small prediction is that aroma-stuff will peak in 2022 and then will start declining
I'd like to see more brands embrace olive toned base products. It's so difficult to find foundation that isn't jaundice yellow, or bronzer that's not red or orange. I think this will also benefit people with deeper skin tones, too. Olive Isn't exclusive to fair to medium.
Honestly the only trend I embrace now is duo/multichromes. I feel like even in my smaller collection (20 palettes and under 10 products in every other face cathegory) I have everything one person ever need.
Geez i have nowhere near 20 palettes, but i have about 15 cream blush alone! And close to 10 powder blushes!! 😂 I have a few duochromes, but they can be tricky for me to wear all day.
To be honest I’d be happy if the bushy brushed upwards brow would disappear. Too many looks where I just thought “brow!” instead of “wow!” And no, definitely not plucking my brows to make them thin. Didn’t do it in the 90s, won’t do it now. The risk that they won’t grow back is too high. At 55, I’ve seen too many women thoroughly regret now what they did to their brows at younger age.
I think you're right on most accounts, but mostly on a financial/instability to 2022. - Smaller collections (lower risk) - Closing business (I don't think it will stop, a lot of people are not ready for instability (again) and will "take their money and run") - I think neutrals will be the huge sellers (Again, lower risk, higher payoff) - I'm wondering about multichromes, I think it's going to be about price/reward. We may see 1, 2 but I can't see "full innovation". 2 years of poorer sales and 2022 opening with a new change to the "panini", companies won't be putting too much on the line. On a money standpoint, I think 2022 will the year to "regain" lost revenue, and will be a big year for makeup, but not risk stuff. I'm thinking base makeup will be shaken up.
I was just thinking last night- imagine if Coloupop figures out a way to do affordable, good quality multichromes 👀 I would bet money they're working on it.

I naturally have thick dark eyebrows, with bald spots from early 00s (light skin/dark hair hispanic). TIP if you want a thinner brow look try this first: start with trimming the brow hairs with little scissors, and use concealer around the edges to clean up the root line. And if you MUST go further, try shaving with those little face hair razors.
The amount of women that are now sellers of mlm products is disheartening and highlights how the system has failed in the u.s. pisses me off that corporations keep becoming more and more predatory and no one with power will do anything because they get kickbacks
Definitely not doing thin brows, I’ve heard of too many people where they don’t grow back. That, and I generally like my brows as they are, with an occasional trim for shaping.
Personally, I think the worst trend of 2021 was y2k because not a single brand influenced by this theme incorporated it in a way that was inspiring. Every brand that tried basically replicated that feeling but couldn’t elevate the tackiness in a contemporary way. This is my opinion so honestly I expect to be disagreed with, but I will say that I have noticed more clothing and makeup influenced by 90’s trends (oversized jeans, graphic tees, cool tones, glam makeup) and I think it’s been more successful than y2k-inspired launches. Personally hoping to see more 2000’s inspired launches because I have a sweet spot for the mid 2000’s but it was not popular compared to the 90’s and 80’s regarding culture and trends.
I think we are going to see strange colors in blush where the eye shadow is diffused onto the outer eye and blended out into the temple area into the hairline. Like blue multichrome shades that will be blended onto the face like blush.

I think multichrome shades could work for this kind of look because the colors would reflect against thr different dimensions of the face as these angles would make all the colors apparent from the eye, to the temple to the lateral line under the lash. Keeping this soft and diffused from the temple to hairline would be stunning, in my opinion.
I don't think my brows would grow back so I think I'll stick with my natural brows 🤗 not every trend is for every person and I'm all for wearing what you feel will look good on yourself 😍🤩😍
I'm always jealous of your technique with your fluffy brows!! I have naturally thick brows but they grow downwards (I'm half east asian) so I can never get them to fluff up >:| I did like the shaved off ends to redraw them higher 2020 look but it was really high maintenance lol
I really would love if multi chromes blew up! I am still recovering from the thin brow trend of the early 2000's lol not a trend I will ever participate in ever again, my brows never fully came back after that & on the contrary I am looking into getting micro blading/shading in 2022 lol love you Angieeee!
also I will literally cry if any of my fav brands become MLMs. A friend had given me a sample of Doterra Wild Orange & I fell in looooove with the scent, and then I tragically found out it was an MLM & never got a full size.
Oh good. My eyebrows are already on trend. I have to draw them on with pencil and fill them in with pomade they’re so thin. I also let a friend wax them in college and she got the wax too hot so i have a couple of lovely bald spots that show really obviously when I try to brush them up. Ladies. Trust me. Don’t do it. Just say no to thin brows. You will be sorry

I'm wondering if I will try/enjoy the thin brow trend, bc I DO like trends to a certain extent, but fluffy full brows absolutely still give me life and I can't imagine not rocking them on the daily. I kinda think not lol.

I think, instead of trying for all-multichrome palettes like UD attempted with Cyber, we'll definitely be getting more things like PMG or the ND Triochrome. Or at least I hope! I also think more indie brands will be making it big. Maybe somebody like Glamlite will get into Ulta? I can definitely see it.
I am hoping, but i Also think that’s probable, that make-up prices are going a little bit down, because the Times when people used to collect make-up and had to have everything are over. Everyone is complaining about prices going crazy, and i think that companies are going at least to stop the increase
I despise the eyebrow trend of 2021 (the fluffy filled in like eyebrows) but just on myself. On others I dont mind..to each their own. I really hope the thin eyebrows come back just not pencil thin like in the early 90's/early 00's like you said lol. Can't wait to see what all of your predictions turn into for 2022!
If you wanted to try the look and your Eyebrows grow with what you do now I would recommend getting and eyebrow razor and just shaving them a bit. I shave the tails off my Eyebrows (I like it but I know its not for everyone) and it comes back quickly if I don't shave them every two days.
Most commercial collabs do nothing for me. Art inspired could be interesting. Consider Van Gogh Sunflowers or Stary Night. How about the deep neutrals of a Rembrandt? Then there is Vermeer' Girl With A Pearl Earring and oh, so many more.
I absolutely loved Y2k as a trend cause it brought me back to the years of my childhood and I’m not ready to let it go😭 I never follow trends in general so I was surprised to be so much into it but I guess it was more for the nostalgia and memories. Also another brand that is closing down is Marc Jacobs Beauty, I found out just because I was looking to buy the bronzer and couldn’t find it anywhere..
I'm predicting more foundation balms, cream concealers, mixing palettes for blushers and bronzers (could be a cream palette with an empty space for mixing), water blushers (like benetint), big stick eyeliners or eyeshadow sticks and more eyeliner releases in general. I think dark and colourful/jewel toned smokey eyeliner could be a trend, and bronzer on the nose. Also warm dark blonde/strawberry blonde hair

Oh, I think you underestimate the prevalence of Disney adults. Disney is 100% going to continue these adult collabs across all their properties. Generally the sportsball properties sell extremely well, too. (For example, Sharpie - yes, the marker - company is getting into temporary skin marker/tattoos in sportsball colors.) I think the lack of sales this year was just a reflection of the global situation, not the lack of fandom interest.
I think Urban Decay is on it's way out. Maybe not next year, but soon. I bet they'll do more of a transition into new branding and a new style rather than simply closing up shop. I'm hoping for thin brows again because I shave off the tails of my brows and have to draw them back in, which makes it hard to do fluffy looking brows. It does work to create more real estate for shadows on my hooded eyes, and generally lifts my face as well.
I'm here for companies diversifying into areas that make sense and expand what they offer to their customer. I think candles for Colourpop are amazing. Maybe they'll slow their roll on all the eyeshadow palettes. I also think they could branch out more with Sol Body like they've started to... not just bath bombs and bath melts but also more body lotions and body butters and body sprays. I honestly think they could position themselves as a more affordable competitor of Bath and Body Works. I also think we're going to see more brands and more influencers and more celebrities branch out into the fragrance world and surprisingly, hair accessories. It honestly makes sense in a world where often, its your scent and your hair style that people are remembering, not your makeup or your smile. Its also a lot easier to collect perfumes that can stay good for a decade or more if well taken care of. I think we're going to keep seeing more scrunchies and barrettes and clip in hair accessories and the list goes on. I honestly am surprised Lime Crime hasn't focused more on their hair color stuff. SO MANY people are experimenting with hair color and have been for 2 years now... people who wouldn't have before because they aren't having to go into an office anymore or who may have but stuck with their makeup but thanks to masks... playing with hair colors and hair styles is more fun.
You make a great point regarding Coloupop- how smart if they brought their American produced, lower cost business model into other areas like home goods.

you look so adorable!!! i need to get your hoodie. i’ve wanted it since you first released it. i reallllly hope the thin brows don’t come back because i definitely won’t be “trendy” when it comes to that. i can’t stand low rise jeans, but don’t get me wrong, i’d rock them if i actually had the body for them. i’m not opposed to rhinestones either. i appreciate smaller collections and i hope that this trend continues. i’m dyinggg to try some multichromes but they’re just too expensive for me to afford. i don’t think we’re not done with collabs whatsoever. they’re going to keep beating a dead horse the most they possibly can. i can’t stand MLM’s and they need to be stopped ASAP!!! i actually bought the candle from colourpop for my mom for christmas and i hope that they continue to make candles because it smells divine. 💙💙💙

Yes!! 🙌🏻 I never left thin brows since I plucked them to death in the 90’s. They look way better on my face anyway and I’ve been happy to see people back off a little from the giant brows. They just don’t flatter every face type. Just because something is a trend does not mean it looks good on everyone.
A trend that may happen is a focus more on blush than bronzer. Bronzer application has gone overboard and so I am hoping bronzer will move to more subtle or disappear altogether
Fashion is good if it doesn't interfere with your look forever. So, thin eyebrows? If you're 15 to 25 maybe ok for 1 year, 18 months If you're older be prepared to most probably loose your eyebrow thickness for ever. So as a 58 years old that has been watching thin to thick to thin eyebrows once and again...please try not to follow that fashion but in a light way, so when you will grow older you will still have eyebrows (with age you're going to have less and less hair everywhere). It took me a lot of time to get my brows more or less back after the last thin eyebrows trend, so that's my experience for the youngest. No worries, thickest will come back in another 3-5 years and you would love to have any eyebrows at all. For colabs...I'm done. I don't mind what they will do anymore, don't want anymore colabs if it's not about a makeup artist. After the Crocs and NBA... totally done. My trend is to only trust for quality. So for me they could avoid paying to those Companies for the colabs and use the money to make amazing high quality makeup. Dreaming? Yes. But it's on us to make it true.
I was going to say I don't think collabs are over, but I was surprised Sigmas Cinderella collection didn't sell out immediately. It doesn't seem to have at all. I am hoping to see more from Sigma and Disney though. Ariel and Jasmine I think could be really fun. Going for male leads could be good too though. More inclusivity for me. Aladin or Genie. Hercules. Not much more comes to mind honestly but it would be a way to shake things up between cosmetics and Disney.
Love this! Brands are having to diversify to try reach a broader market and stop releasing the same thing over and over again. It allows for more creativity within the brand, and opens their range to a potentially new customer base, that might then be tempted to try some of the parent products. However, completely random things like basketball team collabs, that are just a collab for the sake of a collab, and trying to monetise on a societal trend without any true association are ridiculous. Brands need to remember a key word: ‘authenticity’ - if a collaboration or diversification doesn’t feel natural and make sense alongside a brand then the direction they’re taking can appear insincere and like a money-grabbing situation. If colourpop’s product & design team are huge NBA fans and really cared, it would have come across in the palettes - for example. You can’t fake passion, people can see that.

urban decay is going off the market in Europe , lots of they're product are on sale . It wouldn't surprise me if they close down in the future or make their collection smaller

I've never tried it, but while watching a beauty video of hers, she recommended we top of off our Charlotte look with her fragrance. . Laura Mercier had fragrances also. I was broken hearted when Becca was at first bought by Estee Lauder, then put out off business, then their formulas moved to Smashbox. That was really odd to me. Speaking of brands doing something they are not know for is Jaclyn Hill and her jewelry line. My question is if brands branch out into other areas can smaller brands that might be your favorite keep up. I’m sure Color Pop can afford to have a skincare and bath care lines and still put out quality products. Indie brands however may not be able to afford to produce a release every other week, and therefore not be able to branch out unless they get bought out by a bigger company. (I hope that made sense.)

No to thin eyebrows…I have normal in-between brows…been the same since I was a teen. I fill them in a bit but hey, not the thick fluffy brows either. Glad I am too old to follow trends, haha!!
I’ve always had nice natural shaped brows…..my mum always told me not to pluck/ over pluck……so apart from the odd stray one the only thing I have to do to my brows now is put the tiniest bit of Anastasia dipbrow gel through them cause there are a few grey hairs….I’m 48…nearly 49!! I ALWAYS jump through brow bits on reviews/GRWM/hails etc…..never been something I’ve had to work about!!! …….everything else needs work…..but the brows are fine…..😂😂😂😂
A thing I'd love to see, brands doing less and smaller releases (and them stop creating "sister brands" and celebs/influencers stop creating brands as well). I hate the production without abandon that's been happening still when it is wide and common knowledge that our planet is literally burning and flooding at the same time. I should not have to have tornado watches and warnings in December in the upper midwest u.s. I love buying makeup but no one needs brands releasing palettes ever 2 days or a celeb entering the makeup market with a brand that looks nearly identical except for packaging of another brand. They aren't bringing anything new or innovative to the space, they're just making unnecessary waste

I think 2021 was a good lesson for many brands like urban decay, catrice and essence but also BH cosmetics and the little indie brands. The big ones need to overthink because the market changes. People are not interested in expensive palettes that don't work out, or colors that look different in the pan than on the eye. I am happy to see the first real pop of color at too Faced palettes and hope there is more to come. I hope for good quality releases. Not so big that you can't afford buying them. But if it comes to thin brows then I am definitely out 😂 they need sooooo long to grow 😂😂😂. I also wish a trend for those special colour stories like nomads haunted Europe palette or unearthly palettes. I think we have seen enough neutrals or pinks and it is time to overthink the game. I see brands sleeping on their *we do like always* situation will struggle in 2022.
Along the lines of brands branching out to different product categories, when I was on rephr’s website, they had a link to a survey asking basic questions about skinca preferences… I am curious to see if they launch makeup or skincare next, I’d imagine they would aspire to be like Tatcha but send a ton more PR than Tatcha. 👀👀
