A door stopper to put against your door after you get into your room to prevent someone to enter your room. Most hotel doors open inward so that you can push under the door stopper for extra security.

1. I travel with my preferred soluble coffee little sachets /tea and I buy a little sparkling water bottle after security. Sparkling water dissolves easily with almost everything I use including soluble coffee. I avoid drinks or food from the plane. Always passed security with my own food in a little cooler, just opened for checking. Obviously no fluid food. Reason I avoid the thermos: heavy, not transparent enough to clean it properly, it can leak. 2. A good battery which lasts for 1 week charging my phone and iPad and several types of charger cords. 3. Baby wipes hypoallergenic/ water based or Femfresh and small pack of disinfectant wipes for hands. 4. Essential make up: long lasting waterproof lipstick and long lasting waterproof eyeliner, eye cream which can function as face moisturiser and make up removal. 5. Passport, phone money into small special wallet around neck with electronic proof walls. 6. All my luggage has an airtag, another airtag for my backpack-which is my hand luggage, an airtag for the keys, another for my wallet. I know anytime where my items are from my watch. It made my life easier, peaceful and I knew when and where my luggage is coming. It took me many years to arrive at this formula and no regrets for the investment. 7. Bose airbuds: heaven

Regarding the tiny USB-A to USB-C adapter, I suggest taking some brightly colored electrical tape & taping the cord to the adapter. This prevents you from taking the cord & accidentally leaving your adapter in the outlet if you're in a hurry or just not paying attention. Happy travels!

I just buy regular replacement cables for my devices that have the standard USB-A connector, as that's most common (although cars -- so rental cars -- are string to move over to the USB-C adapter and some ONLY have this adapter, but in all the airports I've been in, they all had at least USB-A plugs, same for airplanes and hotels). The best solution IMO is to bring a small portable power pack instead. I say this for multiple reasons -- one being if you're using your phone or tablet for entertainment on the plane, you may need it charged when you get to your destination for things, and second, not all airplanes have USB/power connections. Even a cheap $20 battery pack can be a life saver while traveling.

A collapsible water bottle or a steal coffee cup with a good lid is a must have for me. Regardless it has to accommodate a carabiner to attach to my carry on. Consuming coffee or from a commercial aircraft is a good way to get sick during your journey. An aircraft's potable are rarely cleaned and are filled at multiple destinations as needed. A small, AAA, LED light is always good to keep handy be it to find something dropped onboard, to flag your Uber/Lift/Cab at night or as a hotel bathroom light to avoid being blinded in the middle of the night. A zippered pillow case can make a quick pillow when stuffed with clothing and easier to lug around in place of a travel pillow. You never know when your going to get stuck in an airport for hours on end. From luggage to everyday items, look for quality but keep it cheap so if something gets damaged or lost it is not a big deal and something will get lost or damaged eventually.

Yes, water bottle. My cheap hack is I always bring the mini kleenex packs. They can work as a napkin for a meal or toilet paper in a pinch.

The water fountains are a great way to get sick! I watched a cleaner take the same rag used on the bathroom counter and sink and wipe down the water fountains. Yum, yum! To say nothing of people who touch, lick, or splash the dispenser. I prefer to pay for water that won't be contaminated. Yes to micro plastics because being sick while traveling is miserable.
@wryterzblock
@wryterzblock 5 месяцев назад
I was just thinking the same thing as I watched this because I've seen how disgusting water fountains can get if not cleaned properly. I'd much rather pay for bottled water.
@knowledgeapplied
@knowledgeapplied Год назад
It may be better to bring two empty water bottles. Starbucks that are found in airports have triple filtered water (free), instead having to use a water fountain w/disgusting, lesser, unfiltered water (e.g. lead, metals, forever chemicals...bleeh!) plus they offer a discount + extra stars (loyalty points), now, for bringing your own bottle when ordering coffee. They're the only coffee company who offers a Buy 2 Get 1 Free program... when you BYOB. Also, when it comes to charging at public USB-A ports, it may be *much safer to bring a portable rechargeable battery pack to charge up in place of your phone* so that *data does not leave or enter your phone, unexpectedly, from any hacking attempts.* Just a word to the wise.

Great tips!! Thank you for sharing! I usually check in my large suitcase. I bring on board my medium size backpack which holds my cameras, lens, a jacket, snacks and my meds. But one thing I like to do it to bring a small tote bag which I can put all the items I’ll need while sitting down in my window seat. I put my passport, glasses, wallet, camera, phone, ear buds, Panadol, any meds, pen, charge camera for easy access! This saves having to have a backpack under the seat or having to get up and disturb others .

After getting stuck overnight at JFK (delayed flight so I missed my connection 😭), I will now and forever keep an extra makeup remover wipe and a small amount of moisturizer in my flight bag, cuz trying to scrub off a full face of makeup with hand soap was a joke, and my skin paid the price for a few days afterwards. For the record, I didn’t have my skin care stuff with me as I had a connecting flight and had checked my bag for convenience.

Not really sure about the hot tea or water on the plane . There are videos with flight attendants talking about how nasty and they don’t clean the pitcher or whatever those containers are . So yeah water fountain water is free but the taste may not always be better . Almost safer to spend those few extra dollars and buy the bottles of water.

For me…I’m such a coffee snob. I really love good coffee and am willing to pay for it. So I buy good coffee from the airport, put in the thermos so that I drink that on the plane rather than the plane coffee. But having the thermos also means that if I want to stock up on a cold drink (including wine or beer 😜) for a tour, I can do that. Many uses.

Good sugestions. I would add one "must-have" for your data needs. A data blocker (Databloc is one of them) USB plug for charging needs from unknown USB ports. They will NOT allowed for any malware to be installed as all data pins are removed. I cannot be even sure about some cables, so $8 for a pair of such small devices will make your phone/laptop much more secure.

The only airport water I purchase is Icelandic in Iceland. I wish they had a fountain of the stuff so I can fill up my reusable water bottles. I get these minimalist water bottles that roll up, however, they do not keep your drinks cold! A small portable safe, like the Vaultek Lifepod x micro. You can keep your wallet, phone, passport, or other important things in it. It can function as a small safe while travling, even if part of your trip is in the outdoors on the water. It can be easy to forget to check a hotel or cruise cabin safe before you leave, but if your safe is a portable one that you brought with you and you keep it in your luggage then you don't have to worry about that.

yes to water bottle and thermos. I take the thermos when its a trip during colder weather. Always have a water bottle - but sometimes just a thicker disposable one that I wash and reuse. That way if I lose it, it's not a big deal. But I was just thinking about getting something like what you have so I can use for either cold or hot and not carry two. Plus, would be good for commuting. Does yours stay closed say if you don't have a separate water bottle pocket? My personal item bag is my day to day bag. But I always make sure everything I'm taking fits in the carry-on. When at the destination, everything goes in the suitcase, and I only grab the things I'll need for the day. I like to have another light foldable bag, sometimes plastic, for food and snacks. It can go into the personal bag, but the extra plastic around it helps keep my bag clean if something spills or leaks.
