My 3 Tiers of EDC (Pocket Dump)

My EDC has really stabilized in the last year with the items that I can’t find better replacements. However, there are times when I adjust it up or down depending on the task or situation. If I’m working on the house, car or just doing a construction project I’ll upgrade to a heavy duty Leatherman, fixed blade and Knipex. A lightweight EDC is best for family gatherings or office functions that just rely on an SAK and keychain tool.
Standard EDC:
Benchmade barrage
Olight mini baton
iPhone 11 in otterbox symmetry
Victorinox compact
Victorinox rambler
Slim wallet
Leatherman charge+

I thought I was the only one that carried a liner lock, a victorinox and a leatherman! I carry a Civivi Baklash, Victorinox Hiker and a leathermam Wingman. I'm a maintenance tech an always having pliers and a screwdriver is indispensable. The saw on the hiker comes in handy too. My hiker rides in a leather pocket slip with a Fisher Bullet Pen and a Luminox Tool AA 2.0. Nice pocket dump!

@gregregor9689
@gregregor9689 2 года назад
@@EngineersPerspective701 For the crooked river, I bought a full grain leather sheath from a one man operation in Severodvinsk, Russia. Handmade and really matches the crooked river well in functionality and elegance. The Surge I have the Ainsworth leather case from Leatherman. The Leatherman sheath is ok, but I don’t think the quality is on par with the tools. Both get carried on my waistline vertically. If I’m going fishing or anything outdoors for an extended period of time, I’ll take my Benchmade fixed Adamas solely because it’s easier to clean (specifically if I’m around saltwater) Have you had any issues with the axis assist on the barrage?
@EngineersPerspective701
@EngineersPerspective701 2 года назад
@@gregregor9689 Use any of the spyderco salt series for the water? Been really enjoying LC200N on the waterway and native 5 salt myself. But I don't use them in saltwater because I am very far from the ocean. I actually removed the assist spring a LONG time ago. No issues for the year or 2 it was in there though.
@gregregor9689
@gregregor9689 2 года назад
@@EngineersPerspective701 I have no experience with Spyderco or other upper end knives. When I was doing carpentry work, my mentor always used Milwaukee power tools, Leathermans, and Benchmades, so those are the brands I stick with because I KNOW those 3 hold up to extreme use (not saying Spyderco, etc.. won’t) I’m just speaking off my personal experience. I think I’ll also go that route in the future with removing the assist spring when I finally pull the trigger on the barrage. Good call. I’ll definitely have to check out the salt series in the near future. I appreciate the insight. I will subscribe in hopes you keep making videos like this. Have a good one.

@@docred4739 Hey guy, I think you came into this with a bad attitude, looking for a bone to pick. You already know the full story of why I carry that Leatherman which addresses your original comment. And leads me to believe we are not differing in opinions. What is it that has you so upset? We're essentially in agreement over this. Aside from a mutual exchange of snarky comments I don't see a problem. Everyone's needs are different and their respective approaches to addressing them are equally diverse. To think that you or I know so much that we can absolutely judge how someone goes about their daily life is ludicrous. I rarely ever get to discuss this stuff with others in person. Why would I then waste an opportunity to engage in a topic I enjoy so much and learn from others? Especially because it's impossible to know and judge what people EDC from the outside.

Nice set-ups, to be sure. It does seem you have some redundancy when it comes to knives. In your standard EDC, you have four (4) knives. Why so many? Funny how our grandparents got by with a pair of vice grips, a file, and a Stockman.
@EngineersPerspective701
@EngineersPerspective701 3 года назад
Thanks for watching! I don’t really count the Leatherman because it’s just objectively overkill and mostly carried for the “comfort factor”. It gets carried a lot but it’s not the core of the setup if that makes sense? The blade on the rambler is something I don’t use because really it’s just for the phillips driver. I kind of “deal” with the rest of the implements but I do like the file and smaller scissors in some situations.
