5 Steps for better Financial Planning for Women

➭ Why it's important for women to be financially independent :
Financial independence and financial freedom should not be a function of your marital status or your living situation. Many women could be happily settled, married or unmarried, but that doesn’t always mean they have financial freedom.
➭ How it benefits the family and women personally?
- It can help you meet the family’s financial goals
- In case of emergencies, when one partner loses a job, there is some support & backup
- A role model for the children, especially the younger females in the family -
PERSONAL :
- Gives you freedom, to choose what you want to do with your money
- Not depending on your partner boosts your self-worth + self- esteem
- Doesn’t skew the power balance in the relationship
- If you are in an abusive or unhealthy dynamic, it gives you the option to remove yourself from the situation and ensure your safety.
➭ My tips for financial planning and achieving your goals
1. Set a 20% limit to your spending
2. Plan your finances for life : think about having an emergency fund, a retirement plan, a dream-savings plan. Don’t depend on your dad or your husband or your brother or your child to be supporting you. Think long-term.
3. Rent and utilities : 60% of what you earn. This still allows you to have 20% discretionary income for eating out, traveling, personal purchases and 20% saving.
4. Expense tracking : sit down for 20-30 minutes every weekend, and have a look at your bank account, your cards, you e-wallets and track your expenses. Just this mindfulness will help you in changing your spending habits.
5. Periods of frugal spending : This is a great short-term solution to meet your long-term goals.

just a small addition.. I believe everyone should have a good Mediclaim policy, so that our finances are not hit by any mishap which unknowingly and unfortunately occur., so do contribute a small part of your earnings towards Mediclaim premium. rest Well mentioned.. Ankita❤️

I have seen soo many cases where a husband passes away and the wife is left completely lost with what to do regarding finances. It is important for everyone to be equally involved in all aspects of a families finances. Even if you don't earn a salary, be involved in creating a budget and managing your monthly finaces, understand the policies you and your family are invested in. Understand how to do your taxes. Understand your long term financial goals. Financial independence and accountability are equally important for a women.

Really good to see such topics from you Ankita ! Personally I also try to save 20% of what I earn ..but one tip I would like to share which has helped me great deal is when you like something .. give it 1 month of time. If it still lingers in your mind after a month and you feel the need to have it .. then go for it . This method has tremendously helped me cut down on a lot of frugal expenses . Also cutting down on social media occasionally has helped a lot too.

It was a wonderful video. No many people talk about the topics you raise. We are 4 sisters and our parents have always insisted that we become financially independent and responsible. I think it is very important that women know how to manage the finances, pay the bills and taxes and how to claim insurance. They should know basic banking like how to open a savings account, how to withdraw or deposit money, what's a FD or a PPF etc. These small things are mostly done by the male members of the family and if or when the need arises, women are often clueless about it.

I really liked this content very apt at this point of time as u said I never track my online shopping and they amount to quite a bit of my salary but since I do it little little and over multiple sites it's easier to give them a miss ... I will try that short period of frugality again it's really helpfull I remember I use to do it when I had just joined my first job in order to atone for all the unnecessary purchases that I made and also to make savings for my 80c

Thnak you for the advices. They are so important. Most of the time I struggle to understand where the money earned is going. It's important to actually write down the numbers and calculate. Ever so often we have been driven by fear when it comes to savings. Especially if one belongs to a lower middle class family. And living from paycheck to is not something that I want to do in life.
