I've got a vw beetle chassis based car and covered the entire engine bay and floorpans with betumen heatshield tape (a little thicker than the stuff you used) and it reduced cabin noise by half with the windows closed

Hey Tom, Next time try holding the throttle all the way to the floor when cranking. i do it after changing oil just to prime it back up. it wont start with it wide open on the Vortec pcm. Just a quick tip! Love the Vids dude! Big Noise complaint fan

Tom has really inspired me to finally put together the LQ4 for my 2004 6spd GTO. Still haven't decided if I will use 241 or 823 heads or on a cam yet...probably a 238/242 SSIII or Summit Single Plane 240/252 with flycut flat tops. I really miss driving it but, I want to do as much as I can while it's apart. Deciding on a simple overbore 0.005"-0.065" 365-376ci with GenIV rods or a fully forged 408 slowed me down too long. Stroker kits are crazy expensive so overbore it is. If I can make over 450whp it should be plenty spicy even with that big heavy car with tall gears. No reason to put it off anymore.
