Finally getting the mixed reef tank setup. It has been sitting empty in my Gallery for over 6 months now. Not super satisfied with everything, but I never am. But, I think the scape will be great for holding tons of corals, and it completes the Gallery background just in time for the new job!!

Top tip for your new jigsaw. Lay painters tape on top and underneath where you are cutting to reduce the tearout (chips on the edges). Will make a big difference!

Tools are always a blessing! My wife hates how many tools I have until I fix something she has no idea how to fix and then if it’s near my birthday I get asked if need any more tools! 😂😂😂

Congrats Mathew on you new job with BRS! Can't wait to see the new videos, keep up the great content. Only half way through the video but on the tree rock...can you flip the top piece over to have that arm angle down? Maybe that would take care of the height problem and create a different angle. You could probably remove a piece and cut down that rod also.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I did in the final product. I thought I was going to hate the aquascape but I actually love it!! I have to clowns already swimming around in there, and am going to add some corals this weekend maybe! And thanks a bunch for the kind words Mike!

No idea, but I'm assuming since it is designed for saltwater aquariums, that it won't rust?

So in my brain it was screaming at you flip one of the rocks. Then you did so I felt good about it. Scroll saws are great tools in this hobby . As for the ramp, 150 to prevent an injury is a cheap investment in safety. I want to say congrats on the position at BRS but don't forget where you came from and that this is your OG family. Ha, thanks Chris! Yeah, I had been lifting that 20 gallon one over that edge for years, and as soon as I upgraded to a 32 gallon trash can, I knew I was likely to kill myself! And thanks for the congrats, and hoping to make my way out to vegas soon. If not, I'll definitely be hitting some 2022 reefing shows!

Ha! Actually, we have a servants' chateau out back and an elaborate system of bells throughout the estate. My valet knows not to interrupt during work unless he is called for. What do you do when your butler shows up? ;-)

Hey, yeah, I think that pretty much sums up how I'm feeling! But I'm into my second week at BRS, just finished my first video, and am starting number 2 tomorrow, so I feel myself getting into a rhythm already! That helio heater is certainly nice, but it is expensive. I also wish it had an option for attaching a fan to a cooling side. But, it is probably the safest heater out there, and has an extremely low probability of breaking!

hey man love your vids! im in the works of a jbj rf-45 build (mine just cycled) too! curious to know what your running as far as filtration in the chambers?

Of course. I'm running two filter socks, and that's it! I have a single kamoer dosing pump set up with All For Reef from Tropic Marin, a prism ato from reef breeders, and a Reef Octopus octo pulse 2, and two heaters, one as a backup. Keep it simple I say! Only add stuff when you need it. I'll likely add some carbon later, and I'll only consider a protein skimmer if needed! Good luck and keep me informed!!!

The tree needs to be more spread out, it looks more like a bush, that is not your fault it is just they need to make the branches longer. The extra 2 pieces you added made it look just right. So going to miss Tuesday now :(

For your Brute can issues, I DIYd a pump and hose that I run from my garage to my tanks so I don’t have to wheel the cans around.

@@MyFirstFishTank if your anywhere like the 2 of us are you would need to run a chiller just to keep the water in your garage at a decent temp. Best of luck if you try it .

@@harkinsaquatics I also have the python vacumm hooked to the outside water faucet but it does waist water. I may just go with another way but not to big of a deal. I no longer need to bring buckets into the house :)

Uses same thread as Python hose threads and pumps almost 100% of the water from can/bucket

wish AI would change the bracket for mounting the hydras. the design is bad and the hardware is cheap and easily stripped, but the lights themselves are top notch imho.
