That is called ice-cream bread. You are supposed to eat it with local ice-cream flavors which are cut in a thick slab and placed in the bread like how you make a sandwich. Half the slice holds the ice-cream and the other half is folded over it. Try it. It is really delicious!
Grandma is actually very cosmopolitan! Her first language is Japanese, and while trying some Malaysian foods she reads the English language portions of the labels, and compares one item to German Lebkuchen.
It's so heartwarming to see you guys get together during critical times, have that bubbly time with grandma with all that yummy snacks from Malaysia. Makes me proud being a Malaysian. Seeing Jimmy grandpa condition was heart wrenching and both of you are good soul who dropped everything to go back to Japan. The tour of Malaysian food with your grand ma was an elevated experience was her. I teared from Jimmy's sweet interaction with grandpa, and how he keeps telling Jimmy not to worry about him. Brings me back to when my dad passed away from critical illness almost 2 years. Although he wasn't conscious when we arrived after emergency calls from the hospital, I told him that we would be alright and all is forgiven so that he can move on. And grandma is utterly adorable and willing to try new things 🥰

I love your grandma. She's so open in trying different food. Some elderly people are so shallow minded. My mother in law in Congolese. She came to Malaysia for 2 months and never tried any of our dish. So sad!!! I tried buying her, she will smell, she will look and she goes, ah ah, no!!!
And she loves banana so much, like most japanese people I've known. Saying she wants to reproduce the banana snack means she truly loves it, she's even rated it 100%! Do they sell unripe bananas there in japan? You can't make the snack with fully ripe bananas, they will get crumbled and shatter easily.
I no longer have grandparents from either my mom or dad's side. I miss them dearly, but as I learned, it's more important that I remember how they lived, and not how they died. I wish your grandparents a happy and prosperous life.

Initially i thought mayb its inapropriate to make a video given the circumstances, but i think by doing this video it actually gives ur grandma that little happiness that she needs. Just by being there for her lightens her moment of sadness. the first 3 mins my eyes were watery cos i know how it feels to lose sumone very dear in our lives. but only jimmy & ichang can provide the comic relief that we all need. our hearts and thoughts r wif u & ur family. may all ur life matters and challenges be eased.

Its nice too see that as much as you guys love your grandpa and he didn't have much time left, you guys seemed to be able to treat it like you guys would see him again soon, and while I questioned bringing a camera into the room to see him, there is a precious moment there to look back on and have on video. So sad to see someone passing. My condolences. Also your grandma reminds me of my own grandmother who passed years ago, such a sweet lady

Love this. This is one of the best gifts you can do for the older generation. As I age, and my children are away at the universities, I long to sit and have a meal with them. I feel as we age, even the best food doesn't have a taste when eaten alone. It finally has an unbeatable taste when eaten among our family and friends. This was one of the most entertaining thing i’ve saw in a while! as a japanese person who lives outside japan, some of the things shown in this video (like stuffs in the house) got me really nostalgic because i haven’t visited japan in a while and haven’t seen my family in a really long time. I’m scared that my grandparents might pass away before i can meet them one more time. Learning that your grandfather made me really sad because of that. But seeing your grandma doing well and being active and fun gave me a lot of hope at the same time. Keep up the good work! I hope your grandma is doing well.
That's banana chips is actually a fried smoked banana chips. Salai means smoked. And the colourful bread famously eaten with ice cream. Your grandma is very kawaii🥰 and i hope your grandpa get well soon and live a long life🥺💕

A common man that even at his last moments he tries to comfort his family by stay strong he was literally like don't worry grandpa is fine no matter where like that such a strong heart ...u r lucky to record his last moments with u as visible ... I cried watching this because it reminded me of my late grandparents. I didn’t get to see them before they passed away due to covid. I missed them and the way they loved their grandchildren. Even towards the end of their lives, they hid their illnesses.. showing that they’re fine and healthy. After my grandpa passed away because of lungs failure, my late grandma lived by herself.. spending her days praying for her and her husband, reciting Al-Quran as much as she could. We didn’t know that she had blood cancer. The one cause that made her sick very bad was when she got scratched by one of her cats, the wound didnt heal and things got worse from that point. That’s how we knew she had been having blood cancer. everyone, please love your grandparents because they love us so much and will do anything they can to makesure we’re happy. I didn’t get to see my grandparents.. only their graves. Some parts of me regretted that I have to live so far away for work that I couldn’t visit them often due distance and my financial difficulties. I missed their gentle touches 💔
