I was a housewife when I first got married and after much time of being pressured and judged by family members I tried to be a woman in the work force...I fell into such a deep depression. For almost 2 years I hardly had anytime for my home or self care, my marriage was strained because of stress. It wasn’t for me. When I became a housewife again I felt so incredibly blessed, I never take it for granted! Love your channel and message! I hope we have many more years of your content🥰🥰

It's all very well and good IF you can afford to be a homemaker. Unfortunately, nowadays, many women cannot afford the luxury to stay home and live well on just one salary, not to mention bringing up a family. It's also part of the reason why being housewife was the norm decades ago, it was much more affordable to do so. Unless you come from a wealthy, middle-class background, the reality of poorer, working-class women choosing to become a homemaker and living a comfortable life is extremely slim in 2020.

Right my husband can't find a good paying job unless he has years of experience or a degree.
@miggy7165
@miggy7165 4 года назад
One does not have to be wealthy to be a homemaker. My 4 children are grown now, but we raised all 4 with me staying home. I also homeschooled my children. When we started down this road, my husband was making$35,000 per year. Now he is making $60,000. It can be done, if you are both willing to live a modest life. Don't use credit cards or personal loans. These only put you deeper in debt. Live within your means and save for things you want. Don't rule out second hand stores or Craigslist. You can find some really nice things for a reasonable price. It's a common misconception that staying home is expensive. It's actually cheaper. Speaking from personal experience, that is. I would encourage you and your husband to sit down and look hard at your lifestyle and finances and see where you could make do with less. Especially if you have children. When they're grown and you look back through the years, you won't regret the sacrifices made to be there for them every day. An added benefit is the confidence you gain, as you encounter the various life challenges of staying home and making do and raising your own children with your belief system and values, not someone else's.

@@miggy7165 How did you put your children through college? Were you able to take family vacations? Were they able to go on field trips, join sports, and fit in with their peers?
@miggy7165
@miggy7165 4 года назад
@@ducttapeheart while my 2 daughters decided not to go to college, my eldest son will graduate college this year with a double major and 3 minors with absolutely no school debt. His grades alone qualified him for a full ride scholarship - books, tuition, housing, meal plans, parking permits, anything purchased at the bookstore (including his laptop), everything was covered. All he had to do was put gas in his car. (My youngest son just graduated high school and is yet undecided about higher education.) While we didn't take a vacation every year, and we didn't go to Hawaii or disneyland, we were still able to take trips out of state to visit family on vacation or tag along when my husband had to go out of state for work training (paying for the bigger hotel room and meals and such) and turn it into a family trip. My kids were more interested in theater than sports, so we found a homeschool foundation where they could participate in yearly plays, take extracurricular classes and and learn from people with more knowledge then me about things like public speaking, bioethics and government and constitution. It wasn't always easy. There were things we had to prioritize or do without (like the fancy vacations or getting a pool installed. Or even paying for a membership to the city pool.) But there are still lots of ways to have fun as a family and get out and socialize.

The problem is that we are so hooked up on the idea of equality and forget that we will never be equal: we have different hormones, different perspectives and instincts. We are supposed to have the same value, but we must not seek to be equal no one that is in its core our opposite.

Honestly, homemaking doesn't mean staying home. How many aspects of society fall apart because society can't afford to employ someone for the work. Even if you are only stay at home part time, so many important jobs aren't full time work and can't support a household. Working as a part time librarian, or volunteering in local schools with your kids and other kids, or helping organize a food bank or teaching English as a second language at a local community center are _so important_ for a community, and in many ways can be best done by somebody who doesn't have to "bring home the bacon." *Stay at Home* is community building.

I got an international relations masters degree from a prestigious university (while already married), then went on at getting an internship at a diplomatic institution. Did random jobs here and there and became a housewife after my first child was born, now pregnant with the second. To me it makes much more sense putting my energy into my family. Benefitting my children is also way more rewarding than working for a pervy boss who borderline sexually harasses you. There are more traditional guys out there than you might think, sometimes they need you to start the conversation. My first time dating an American man who is now my husband, I felt the need to start the conversation to say that if we married, I wanted to focus on homemaking once having children. Let me tell you, he was so relieved I brought it up, it allowed him to be comfortable in his traditional masculinity that he was afraid to express to former girlfriends from being mocked.

Hi Caitlin. I am a big supporter of your channel. However, today I came across a concerning video making some pretty heavy accusations about you. I am never one to instantly cancel someone because of some far-fetched claims but since I am a Jew (anti-semitism was mentioned somewhere in that video), I want to make sure I am supporting someone who also supports me. I'm sure your other fans who saw that video would like the same. So, I was hoping you could provide an explanation for the accusations made in that video so that I don't just have to write you off. In your defense though, some of the claims that girl made were a little ridiculous. The thing I loved most when I first found your videos was how respectful you were and the diversity you showed in your videos. I hope this all gets cleared up! Xx.

When I first decided to be mostly a homemaker I felt kinda guilty for my partner making all the income. Since then I started working from home so I can bring in a little income (although not nearly as much as him) and it has helped put my mind at ease a bit. I am first and foremost a homemaker and I absolutely love that it helps me keep more traditional values. For instance I make everything from scratch when I cook and feel so accomplished when I'm done and feel great knowing I don't put unnecessary chemicals and preservatives into our bodies. I even make my own bread. I don't have kids yet but if and when I do I know that they will greatly benefit from someone who has time to prepare healthy fresh meals from scratch. There are certain things that women who work all day can't or find it very hard to do and I wish people talked as much about that as they do about women being degraded because they want to stay home.

Yes it's unfortunate that in today's age, with inflation, a lot of the time 2 incomes are necessary! Plus I think the man has to be 100% on board with wanting to support a housewife/kids. My husband would totally be a house husband if he could, so it's not fair to him for me to make no income 🤣... I'm rambling, just saying I hear what you're saying. If I could start over, I might have looked harder for a man who really wanted a housewife.

It’s true, most will marry average income men and there is nothing wrong with that. It can work. I knew I didn’t want to continue working outside of the home so I made sure to keep our family finances at my husbands income. This way my departure from the workforce would not be a financial blow to my family. I left my six figure career in March and can’t even begin to describe the freedom and joy I feel. Thank you so much for this video. I have been a stay at home mom/homemaker for 13 years already. When all my kids entered school, I went through a crisis because it's only okay to be home when they're 5 and under, right? I quit grad school to be home with my daughter because it was the right thing for me...2 more kids later and I'm positive that being home and available to them is 100% the only way I want to live. Homemaking has always suited me since I was very young. It's difficult to find women/people who are like me and so this year I turned to RU-vid and have found women who are gracious enough to share this content for people who like me who have no close examples. So I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting up with the pushback and negativity of some people because having these channels with like minded women lifts me up and reminds me that I'm not alone or lesser than for just following the homemaking profession that I've always been suited for.

It's ignorant to say the Catholic Church has manmade rules when it's been here since the time of Christ and had St Peter as it's first Pope. The Catholics also put together the books of the Bible and preserved sacred scripture faithfully before printing presses were even invented. Looking at the Catholic Church as a manmade and evil institution is like biting the hand that feeds you. By the authority of the Catholic Church, given it by Jesus Christ Himself, we have the Holy Bible. It didn't just drop out of the sky during the Protestant reformation I'm pretty sure.

What a great video Caitlyn! I naturally fell into becoming a homemaker this year when my Mother passed away and I took some time off; and then my work place limited shifts, so I'm working even below part time now...my man doesn't mind at all and we're making it work. It feels so natural to both of us, and he says almost everyday how much he appreciates how I cook and run our home! I've been at home now for 10 months and we're both loving it. Like you said however, family members have very strong opinions. I get those questions of, "what do you do all day" and I'm always so shocked in the moment because these questions are accompanied with a rude tone. I don't know if it's because I'm 25 and they think I should be climbing up the ranks - but they definitely think I'm lazy. And I feel so bad for them, that they feel that way. Because my man and I don't have a problem with our lifestyle at all. Anyways, I really appreciated this video! I agree with everything else! It is critical to know if a man wants a traditional house wife while dating. I always wanted to be a housewife, when I say that you should see the ugly looks I get.. 😕 with a follow up lecture on having a fall back plan.

I have been with my man for 10yrs (since we were 15) and when we graduated high school i was a raging feminist- i wanted 50/50 and now that im older i realize that’s actually not what i want. I had a conversation with him and said “i dont wanna do 50/50 anymore” he said “i didnt think we were 50/50😅” implying that he brings more money to the table as is (which he does) now he is on track at his job and said when he gets promoted i may not have to work anymore. I am so happy i am giving into my desires to be a traditional wife and he is allowing me this opportunity. Next step will be getting a house then kids! 😍🥰

I'm 18 and engaged and we have an understanding that we believe in traditional gender roles and responsibilities but my family isn't as supportive of his and I am recieving major critism from my mother and siblings and it deeply hurts. Any suggestions on my situation.

Well said my dear 👏👏. I'm proud that we have more voices coming out advocating traditionalism. My greetings from Algeria 🇩🇿

This may seem weird, but do you know of any websites, forums, dating sites, etc specifically aimed at feminine women wanting to be future housewives and mothers?

the natural and most fulfilling roles for women and men is apparent in the behavior and desires of very young children. Boys want to be the builders and protectors. Play with legos, play with tonka trucks, knowing how things work, hunting and camping, playing with action figures beating the evil villain. Girls want to be be the nurturer, the home maker, the caregiver, the bearer of life. The play with little baby dolls pretending to be mommies, they play with pretend tea sets, they like decorating, and play with toy houses. The children show us what the truth is about what our natural desires are. Thats because this is the natural order of things. There isnt anything wrong with this! Doing these things fulfills you at the most fundamental level. But feminism would have you believe its all a a lie. Young girls and boys get programmed by the public school system and our media to turn the natural order on its head. Being young, we want to trust that our elders are telling us the truth, but the ideology that we are programmed with leaves us in a confused state as to what our roles should be to achieve the maximum level of satisfaction in our lives.

This is beautifully stated. Men and women have been pitted against each other by feminism and many have fallen for this false narrative, creating yet another generation of confusion and broken homes. So glad to see so many people in this more traditional community trying to swing things back the other way.

I've commented before, but I love that you openly acknowledge that different lifestyles are for different people. I enjoy watching to work on cultivating the areas on my life that I'm not quite as strong in a place where I dont feel judged that my aspirations aren't the same as yours. 💛

Thank you for not being afraid to speak truth!! Why as a society do we push women to resist the God given desire for home and family and to see it as an inferior choice to a career outside the home? So sad! I am so glad for you as a young woman resisting the BIG lie and being an influencer and encourager to many women, young and old!!

i love how contradicting modern feminism is. the ones who actually care about women WILL respect every path in life. supporting women is supporting femininity. We are not supposed to be men, femininity and the different paths that come with being a woman is so beautiful. Thank you so much for this video

Is it okay for me to be a house wife with no kids? Previous cancer treatment made it hard to conceive so my husband and I just enjoy each other’s company but if I’m a house wife I wonder if it’s still valid.. Hubs is perfectly fine with my becoming one but I feel guilty

My opinion doesn't matter but if you want to be a stay at home wife then that's absofreakinglutely valid. You have nothing to feel guilty about, children or no children.

I have been a stay-at-home--mom/ housewife for over 6 years. I have always said I would start working after my youngest child goes to school which right now gives me 3-4 years. To be honest, I'd rather stay as a housewife so our home and responsibilities can all get done. I hope my husband will accept that when the time comes.

I have already been criticized for wanting to be a stay at home mom and I’m not even married yet 🤦🏼‍♀️ thankfully most comments have come from people that aren’t close to me.

I want to be a house wife. I don’t know… part of me feels guilty like I’m being lazy for wanting to stay home. But it sounds so nice to be able to go to the store at whatever the time of day and buy decorations for the holidays. To clean the house and decorate it the way I want, to have the time to learn new cooking recipes and impress my husband with it. To wake up at whatever time I want… just sounds like the dream life.

Being a housewife is far from lazy. Granted, we won’t be working as hard as our grandmothers of course but being a mom and a wife is a full time job. Trust, you’ll definitely have your hands full 😂 me and my man don’t even have kids and my hands are full with just him

It's funny to me that some feminists talk about the Mrs Midwest channel in a negative way, saying that Caitlin's traditional beliefs are bad. Feminism is supposed to be about a woman's right to choose, a woman's right to live her life her own way. At the beginning of every video, Caitlin ALWAYS stresses that she is not forcing her lifestyle on anyone. She always encourages women to act, dress, and live however they choose to. Kinda seems like feminists should applaud her, not bring her down. 🤔 Keep it up, Cait!! Your videos are gentle, kind, and supportive towards women who want to live a more traditional lifestyle, and I am so grateful that a traditional woman as inclusive and welcoming as you are exists on RU-vid! ❤️

I wouldn't say I chose to be a homemaker but life lead me "here" and like everything that life leads me to, I choose to make the most out of it. I feel now, that it has been a calling that I've "put off" because "I wanna be an independent woman" but so so glad that as God has a plan for me, and I let Him lead, this can't feel more right. My husband is VERY grateful that I was willing to embrace my new role as many (according to him/his friends) struggle to "choose" home making when required (ie. moving to a new country; lacking work opportunities, language skills etc..).
