I understand your frustration, sweaty - I am also going through the same since 2016. I want you to know that you were not the fist one and will not be the last one who suffers from this disease. So you are not alone. Remember that you are still so BEAUTIFUL no matter what. Thank you for sharing this very personal subject with us. It takes a very strong person to be so vulnerable!

I got diagnosed a few weeks ago. Its attacking my scalp, eyebrow, and eyelashes. I am so insecure about it and it sucks because I wear the hijab so no one sees my scalp and i can fill in my eyebrow but my eyelashes are what make me confident and they are just falling. There isnt anything i can do to stop it and it is actually heartbreaking for this to happen my senior year of high school.

If you have alopecia, please read this. Drink BONE BROTH & Take FISH OIL. DO NOT STRESS! It gets worse. It’s a gut problem so do some cleanse too. I suffered it 2 years ago. It was really bad, I wanted to die and not go outside but after eating more clean and doing lots of bone broth, it helped ALOT. please cure your gut! For me I believe stress triggered it, now my hair is all full but recently it was falling out but not in patches. I believe it’s because I’m stressing a lot again but I’m back on bone broth and lowering my stress level. I’m trying to prevent it. Stay positive! 🤗

I think i was seven when i first went through it, I was bullied so much, i had no hair at all, none, These girl’s in my school found out and everyday i got called “cancer girl”. I’m lucky enough not to have cancer. But as a seven year old my heart broke every time, they didn’t touch me because they said it was contagious, i had to eat lunch with my teachers because no one would eat with me. I lost everything those years, it broke my family and I lost all my confidence, i’m 16 now and i still have parts of my hair that are missing and my confidence is still never gonna recover :(

Alopecia really freakin sucks. I'm a man and Two years ago i started growing my hair, I had the prettiest hair ever, Thick, Shiny, Elastic, Healthy, full or volume. People would compliment on it very often. It became my identity and extension of myself. November 2020, i got a paronychia on my nails. It hurts super bad, stress a lot about it because i've ended up losing my nail entirely and was reluctant going to hospital with Covid lines and stuff. It finally started to grow back. I was super glad to see that the moisty part under the nail actually became a nail while the real one will push this temporary nail out. While discussing about it, me and my Gf started to say what disease we had in the past or hereditary stuff. And i said well my cousin lost all his hair, from head to toes and my sister had a bald patch like couples years ago, not sure if it's good now. As i was saying this, hell damn me if i lie, i touched my scalp and felt a HUGE bald spot at the back/left of my head, like 3/4 the size of my palm. I freaked so much. After a better look it was actually two circle overlapping. I'm 31 and i cried like a baby. I couldn't believe my eyes. How could i've lost so many hair without noticing? I didn't seem to shed more than before. Went to doctor, was prescribed steroid solution to apply. 3 persons in the same family. 2 areata and one universalis. Anyways, going on with the solution, I also try to eat better and make sure i don't lack Vitamin D, C, Biotin, Zinc, Iron and Magnesium.. Started to use a lot of oil on my scalp, Rosemary, Red onion, Coconut, Castor oil. Tonight i had enough and shaved all around the bald spot into an undercut. I feel liberated from that weight of always feeling the spot. Now that it's shaven i feel a lot of tiny hair that grew back already on the earliest part of the patch . I'm about 1 month in the treatment. I just feel happy for now as it is localized under the level of my ears which was perfect to hide. Be positive. I also started to take Relaxing pills over the counter like L-Thanine. No prescription. Helps to calm Anxiety and empty your thoughts without sedative or losing control.

just thought of sharing our experience with you as we know the emotional pain. Even now I will be in tears the moment i think about the helpless situation we were going through and how it felt to see our son like that. For our son (age:12 years now) this condition 'Alopecia areata' started from Jan 2020, started as just one small patch, by June he lost around 80% of hair. Till Oct we tried allopathy, ayurvedha and sidha methods of treatments. Nil result. It kept aggravating. Came across a naturopathy doctor video in internet, spoke to him, followed his instructions from Nov. By a week's time hair started growing (i mean that 0.01% result we look for/deeply stare at the head every day), it took almost 6 months to gradually grow back to normal. No medicines, no ointment, no application, no oil. Find below the gist of what we did; Stopped all medicines immediately 'Oil pulling' every morning in empty stomach 'water enema' procedure twice a day (internet search 'jala basti in yoga' video) Practice yoga or exercise or walking atleast 15 to 30 mins daily in open/fresh morning air Spend time in direct sun for atleast 10 to 15 mins around 10 to 11 am Strictly no hot/warm water bath Bath in cold/normal temp water (bearable temperature for your location/weather condition) thrice a day, incl head wash, no need of soap/shampoo everytime Eat 80 to 90% (per day intake) only fruits (esp seasonal fruits) Balance % can be cooked millets with lots of vegetables and some greens Totally avoid following : dairy products (all forms) wheat related products ( all forms) dal/pulses (all forms) meat, egg (all forms, no non veg) No snacks, no fastfood, no oily / deep fry items, no bakery items. No sugar, no cofee, tea. Strictly sleep early - atleast 9.30 pm to 5 am This is just a glimpse of it. Might look wierd and impossible for a normal person, but I know we would do anything for our hair to grow back naturally. It was difficult at the beginning. We all followed these as a family. Especially the diet. We made sure there are no other eatables present in the house which would be tempting. Will not cook anything that he is not allowed to eat. It's art of living rather than treatment I would say. This system believes in detoxification in a natural way by giving minimum work to the digestive system/respective organs along with healthy life style and therefore allowing the body some time to repair itselves. If interested I shall forward the detailed guide as a link which the doctor shared with us.

Don't cry. You are so brave and selfless to share this with the world. I wish you could know how your story has helped me. I am so grateful for all, whose videos I've been watching and learning from. My 13 y/o daughter developed a quarter-sized bald spot on the crown of her head at near the end of Feb, 2020, just before her birthday. She'd recently transitioned to remote-learning due to covid, so I attributed it to trichotillomania (she is stoic and reticent - puberty and Covid arrived close, together for her), but by mid-March it was obvious something else was happening. Em was born with a a head-full of hair, and she's never had it cut - she would cry if I trimmed her split-ends - so it's always been very long. Most of her hair fell out over the summer. Before school started this August, her sisters took her to shave her scalp. She hates the wigs, and decided to just go to school as she is. She stood-down a bully who pretended to be her friend while surreptitiously taking pictures to share with her ugly bully-friends. So proud of her. Anyway, after no results with the topicals, Fluocinonide/Tofacitinib, she has an appt on the 11th for injections. I've been watching a lot of videos like yours, sharing your personal experiences,, and I appreciate you. Who knows why this happens? Who cares?? You are beautiful, with or without hair, inside and outside. ❤❤❤

I guess I just got unlucky. As of rn I’m doing a hair mask of coconut oil, aloe, and castor oil while taking hair supplements. Gonna see how this goes for a few months and to try staying consistent. Hair transplant wouldn’t work for me since I’m loosing hair all over my head not just a certain area so it’s bound to weaken over time.

I just wanted to say how really brave you are for sharing your strugle. I have been dealing with similiar feelings for 2 years now becouse of telogen elfuium and androgenic alopecia...I am still learning how to accept myself the way I am...the strugle is real and painful. I know this doesn't help much but I just wanted to say that I can relate ... it surprises me how much shame I have been dealing with just with sharing with the people that I love what I am going through. And how much I have to take care and love myself despite what goes wrong in my life.

Hi 👋 I just wanted to say that I completely understand and emphasize in what your going through #hugs ❤! For the last two years I have been battling an aggressive, unique breast cancer. I lost my hair going through chemotherapy then radiation, etc… then to my dismay it didn’t grow back right in the front on both sides!!! I tried pretty much everything and it’s still exactly the same! I have learned however to embrace who I am and like you have the attitude that THIS DOES NOT AND WILL NEVER DEFINE ME ❤!!!! It’s all about a positive attitude and self love, you are beautiful and you’ve got this !!!! Tc of you and please remember that!!!!! Love, Amity

Thank you for sharing this.... it literally just made me tear up because I’m going through the same thing and just diagnosed about two months ago and it has been really hard I’ve always taken pride in my hair... I remember the morning I woke up to hair on my pillow and ran to the bathroom and noticed the second spot which was on the front close to my forehead and I literally started bawling and shaking because I just couldn’t understand why it was happening to me... We can do this!!!!!

I also have alopecia and we have very similar alopecia story. Yes alopecia has been playing with my feelings, it falls grew back again and then falls and grew again. I'm really fed up of this. And some people acted really weird when they find out that I wear a wig. Some people be like they are curious about me but not brave enough to come up to me and ask so what they do is just talk behind my back..how nice it would be if they actually ask me if they wanna know st abt me. But now I've healed a lot from this pain. I prayed a lot to God, cried all night, felt so depressed, done all sorts of possible things but seems like nothing gonna work with me. Why is this happening to us ? I really hate. No cure. Wtf. I used to have long, silky, thick, browned coloured beautiful hair and people admired my hair, I liked my hair very much but it was taken from me at a very early age. I feel so sad like a soul departed. Hm it's okay whether my hair grew back fully and matured or not at all too because I'm fine w myself. We'd be very sexy with our hair so God took it from us. Let's take it this way. I pray that I be the last human to suffer alopecia.

Thanks for being brave enough to share your story. My 6 year old daughter has alopecia totalis and is almost completely bald except for one patch on the side of her head. It's really hard for me as a mom to deal with this condition because everyone thinks she has cancer. I refuse to get injections or take meds due to the possible long term side effects. We just use cute scarves/headbands to cover her head when out in public. In addition I always tell her how beautiful she is despite whether she has hair or not. I do pray for a cure one day but in the interim just stay confident. No one is perfect. People will judge you no matter what. Love yourself first no matter what and that confidence will come shining through.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’ve been dealing with alopecia areata for over a year now and it’s encouraging to see others “own it.” It’s an emotional rollercoaster and a real confidence killer because, in our minds, our hair is a part of our identity. Our beauty. And to have no control over that is frustrating. So I’ve become an avid hat wearer day in and day out. But I’m honestly just tired of trying to hide it. Hopefully this time isn’t as severe for you and it grows back but for myself as soon as one spot grows it seems a second and a third show up. And so this disease is a slow killer - wearing you down emotionally. Funny how I can look at Covid and the WFH setting as a blessing because I can just let my head breathe and not hide. But I’m tired of feeling like I can’t be comfortable with what I’m living with. I want to share and be free. I don’t want the weight of “hiding something” and feeling like I’m not bringing my full self. And that starts with accepting it and owning it. And there’s true beauty in that - we just have to remind ourselves. Watching this, seeing similar stories/ struggles helps. So again, thank you for sharing with us.

I'm 60, and I just developed this disorder. It's very upsetting. And my pattern is very similar to yours right now. Bare behind each of my ears, a. rather large spot (the first I saw) behind my left temple. I went to the dermatologist immediately and he shot me full of steroids and gave me a clobestal (sp?) steroid solution to treat the spots. the loss has slowed somewhat, but I'm still shedding all the time. You said something about how hair is SO important. I want you and others to know that it is important, but it isn't important, too. You still have a whole beautiful life to live, and you can't let this condition (not disease) ruin your happiness. Pursue your dreams and ambitions in life. If you're one of the lucky ones whose hair does grow back, then think of yourself like a bird that molts (loses it's feathers) every once in a while. ("Well, I guess it's molting season, again!"). Invest in some better wigs, learn how to wrap turbans, and have some cool hats you like to wear. Here's the deal, too. If people, especially younger people, see you accepting this condition with a shrug of your shoulders, they will learn from your own acceptance of yourself, that it's not a big deal. Of course there might be assholes and bullies who make fun. But MOST people will not. Most people will follow YOUR lead. I never had great fabulous thick and luxurious hair, and life was still pretty damn good. I know sixty probably sounds ancient to some of you, but it's not (especially when it's you who's sixty!). One of the things I told myself when this started, to help me keep it in perspective, was "How bad am I going to feel about this? I don't have much control over it, if any. While it is upsetting, it's not the end of the world. It's just hair. It's not cancer, I'm night dying and I'm not disfigured or paralyzed from some accident. I can still dance, sing, laugh, swim, think, write, work, cook, travel, make love, get around by myself. And if this happened to someone younger that me, what would I tell a 10 year old, or a 15 year old or a 24 year old? I'd tell her, get on with your life! Keep swimming. Keep smiling. None of us knows how much time we have on this earth, or what's going to happen. But rest assured, bad stuff is gonna happen. And if it's only alopecia, consider yourself lucky it's not something worse." So if any of you out there are crying your eyes out over this, stop. Love yourself as is. You're gorgeous with or without hair. Put your hat on, wear sunscreen. Go. Do. The world needs you as you are.

I also have alopecia areata, and I'm hiding this secret from a lot of people...i know it's just hair, and I always feel guilty for feeling sorry for myself for something that's a "cosmetic desiese ." I went to my family doctor, and she referred me to a dermatologist. I live in Vancouver bc so unfortunately there was a six month wait list. My condition kind of just cleared itself and I also have no idea what I did different. It sucks having this desiese, it tears down every bit of self confidence I have, and I'm always ashamed of having anyone find out about it. I totally understand how you feel!! Even to this day, I feel guilty for feeling sad about my cosmetic disease when others actually have a life threatening disease. But I came across this saying which now, I don't quite remember how it goes but pretty much it was like... just because someone broke 3 bones in their body and you only broke 1 doesn't mean that you can't feel pain too. Originally I was going to take this secret to the grave with me but since it happened again, I just thought it was better to just tell people. It took a lot for me to just say "fuck it" and tell people. I really hope you are able to find the strength one day to let people know! -- So with research I’ve been doing, there is a doctor on youtube (i wish i could remember his name, but if you type in proven hair growth methods he should come up) and one of the methods he mentioned was using rosemary oil (diluted of course) as it is proven to work like minoxidil but without the side effects. So you dilute a few drops in a carrier oil and massage it into your scalp .. not sure how many times a week though. I think in the experiment it was everyday. There are also rosemary hair tea rinses you can do. Fenugreek seeds or the powder is supposed to help too. Grapeseed oil is also supposed to help if you are stressed, it prevents stress from affecting your scalp to lose hair. I really hope this helps. This is what I’m trying .. Fingers crossed we all heal. I recommend Deepa Berar’s channel.

Hi Melissa, Ive just come across your video and I think you're doing an amazing job in accepting what your condition is. I have alopecia universalis and I've had this condition since I was 1, so this disease is really part of my life now. As I grew older, the hair gradually grew with me. I have not experienced a full head of hair yet, but I know the day will come soon. Im now 21 years old, social media doesn't necessarily help with self confidence but its a work in progress. I suggest to stay entirely away from steroids. I have not used steroids and I dont think I ever will, since I believe it gives a temporary satisfaction or worsens the condition. I used to follow ayurverdic and homeopathic treatments growing up but that did nothing obviously. I have followed different regimes which has encouraged hair growth, these are; applying onion juice and leaving it over night, castor oil, coconut oil. Defo incorporate essential oils onto the scalp, massage your scalp daily, meditate whenever you can. The one thing that Ive noticed a great difference in trying to treat alopecia is the AIP diet (Auto immune protocol), for a month I did the Paleo diet and by far has done the most change out of the other regimes I followed through out my life, I havent been quite strict with it now since Im quite lazy and it is pretty hard considering paleo doesn't contain any carbs lol but Im planning to go back on it soon. I hope this helps and stay positive, tell your mind it will grow back and I do hope this disease will be avoided permanently for all those suffering, whatever type you have. Good Luck!!

I discovered mine October of 2018 and I’m a junior in high school. I just found my fifth spot and it is so hard for me because it’s in a spot that if it gets bigger here is no way to hide it. It really takes a toll on my emotional health especially being in high school. I’ve been getting shots for a year and tried the AIP diet summer of 2019. My dermatologist said that I have a really stubborn case because I have a good amount of growth but new spots are appearing. Doctors aren’t really helping because my dermatologist just gives shots and topicals, my family doctor says she can’t really do anything about it, but hopefully I’ll find someone that will actually want to help find the root of my problem.

If interested I shall forward the detailed guide as a link which the doctor shared with us.

thank you for sharing, I experienced the same thing. since I was 3 years old until now. and now I am 20 years old. it's been running for 17 years. I never remember how it started, because when this happened I was very young. my parents never told me in detail. I had undergone treatment when I was a child until I entered elementary school. after that, I have never been treated until now. I am a woman, and I feel very bad when I am different from other women. I was resigned to everything, and I do not care about bullying. but I never stopped hoping for a cure. thank you for giving a story that makes me feel better. ♥

Hello. Thank you for sharing your story. I have suffered with alopecia areata for over 10 years. I lost most of my eyebrows and facial hair too. My doctor prescribed me Olumiant It just arrived yesterday so I didn’t take it yet. I’m gonna start tomorrow. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about it. It was recently FDA approved for alopecia.

I'm so glad I've watched this video, I feel so alone right now as my alopecia is the worst it's ever been. Waiting for the doctors to get back to me on the best treatment but I just feel hopeless about it.

I'm sorry this happened but thankfully it's only alopecia and not Cancer... Praise the Lord! However its great to see other races share their story, because its a stereotype that people of color have it due to neglect. Its tough to get people to understand that alopecia with the exception of traction alopecia is beyond a persons control. Areata, runs its course and there isn't anything you did to help it grow. It just runs its course. The emotional roller coaster is real. I get it, because I have it. I was 23 year when I found a quarter size spot. It got worse of course as the years went by. It's ok, you're beautiful and thanks for sharing.

I’ve coped with my alopecia areata since December 2018. One spot grew insanely large, new spots formed. Spots regrew, and repaired, and rather recently thinning has been crazy on my crown. Lol I live with it, but fr I don’t do any water sports or swim with anybody. One day I’ll break thru that block.

My barber found a spot a few months back and I was slow to see a doctor and Ofc now it’s spreading since I procrastinated so much. I’m assuming I probably will struggle hiding it in the following weeks and I’m scared the doctors will be slow with fixing treatments and such. I started taking a 5% minoxidil solution on my own when the doctor said I will have to wait 2 weeks for my appointment, but it’s too late or something. Really hope this all will work out in the end. Stay strong everyone, we can probably get through this :,) one love❤

Thank you so much for this video! I am 13 and got diagnosed last month and it hurts me so much. I dread going to school as I’m afraid i’ll get bullied and the thought that i might have to shave my hair scares me. Luckily at the moment i am just about able to cover it up with a side- parting but i am dreading the point when i can’t do this anymore. Your video has really helped me and I now have hope for the future ❤️
