Lol, what was I listening too (as if you knew the LP I was spinning lol) but anywho, I flipped on both tubes (pre and amp) and the TT "TurnTable" 30 mins after warm-up I put a record on and it was only after 20 mins and half way through the last song that I realized the whole works was out of whack. What the hell is wrong with my TT? Like the dummy I am (not really) I too forgot to hit that good old 45 button. Ahhhhh much, much, much better now that's music to my ears, no pun intended.
Thanks for taking the time to show us your collection, Melinda. I have 14 of those records, but there are several that I still want that you have in your collection. Thanks for all of the information that you share with us.
You have a great collection and you articulate your enjoyment of your collection so well. It is so comforting to watch. I have a similar amount of records, maybe a bit more with all the 45 singles. Beatles collection in the hundreds. CDs over a thousand. Will never hear anywhere close to it all. Yes Fragile is a gem as are all the Doors and that beauty Elvis.
Thank you, Melinda for showing your, Analogue Productions ,vinyl records. My favorite ones are,The Doors !! My favorite, Doors is , Waiting For the Sun, too !! I will tune in next time. Take Care.🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁
Hi again Melinda. 100% agree on the Doors, all of them. Love your shirt by the way or what I can see of it. I enjoy my analog productions albums all the time. Thank you for another great video. Sandy.
Hey Melinda , I may have mentioned this in one of your videos regarding the Miles album. A while ago I found the original promo copy in mint condition . I t was the very last lp in 6 rows of awful records at the Salvation Army store. It sure was worth hanging in all the way through. Great video as usual!
Hello Melinda from Canada. I love your channel and find your musical taste is lock n step with mine. I too am just discovering the Blues genre. An absolutely fantastic Blues album that I may recommend for you to check out with Blues, Funk and Soul all wrapped into one … is by Junior Wells titled “Pleading the Blues”.
Thanks for another great video! So many great records. I absolutely need to add some Eddie Money to my young vinyl collection! I have his greatest hits on CD, and EVERY song is fantastic!
Great Video Melinda. It’s unfortunately geared to vinyl buyers that are well off financially. Here in Canada Analogue Productions are a no go because quite simply they are $100-125+ per album plus taxes. I’m not in a tax bracket that could justify the expense when a good OG will keep me happy at a fraction of the price. I’ve only ever bought 1 Analogue Productions album and after sure it sounded great but the price left me feeling guilty for days after. Maybe if I was rich I’d buy more but life costs a lot of money these days and premium vinyl is truly for those with money to burn. Best regards.
While I always watch your videos, I clicked in hopes of seeing The Doors and you didn't disappoint. They are my favorite band I hope to one day have all 6.
I hope you are able to buy all 6 as well. The album covers are beautiful and they sound terrific. The Doors didn't make a bad record. 🤗♥️ Thank you and take care.
I love to see classical getting some love. “Atmospheric beauty” - well said! I don’t even know that Ellington album - gotta check it out. I’d love to have that Living Stereo Elvis but that is bad to shove three albums into one sleeve. Stardust is one of my favorites - I’d love that one. Check out the CD too - it has a bonus disc. I want Witches Brew - love Living Stereo!!! Thank you.
The sleeve issue on the Elvis record is small compared to having such a great release. I enjoy all of these records so much and do hope to build up my classical music collection at some point. Stardust is one of my favorite albums.♥️ Thank you and take care.
I have bought dozens of Analog Productions vinyl. They do an outstanding job. I cannot recall ever getting a damaged record. Chad has raised the bar when it comes to audiophile vinyl. So glad to see your interest in Jazz and how it has grown.Keep up the great videos I have followed you since your first video.
Thank you so much for hanging in there with me all of this time. That means the world to me. ♥️🤗 Analogue Productions is a fantastic label. I always buy with confidence. I have yet to be disappointed with one of their releases. I have quite a bit of jazz in my collection now. I have really grown to love it. Thank you so much! Take care.
Hi Melinda 👋 - The first Eddie Money is his best all around & sounds great - Seems like you always discover new sounds in Doors records which is why they endure so much. Riders On The Storm is my favorite song by them . Sounds great in the car. See Ya ! 😃
Hi Melinda Little behind the last couple of weeks. Great video! Eddie Money is one of my favorites. I remember when I bought that record still have it and on cd. Your picks were great. And the Doors. I have a couple and love them. Take care...🙂👍
It's great to hear from you. 🤗 Eddie Money was an incredible but underrated artist. I love him. The Doors albums are all so good. Thank you and take care.
Interesting great video ! I love your recommended vinyl. In fact i did ever follow your recommendations & bought the exact vinyl, and I never being disappointed, thanks to you ! Appreciate you would continue to make more videos like this one. Thanks very much !
PET SOUNDS and all THE DOORS LPs were issued in the old DVD-Audio format (including 5.1 mixes) and sounded great, so the masters were in fine shape then and there would be zero excuse for the vinyl not to sound as great, so you have confirmed it did and all the hard work then and additionally for the vinyl really paid off to save and preserve that catalog. Same for DAVE BRUBECK and I have that album on Super Audio CD sounding great. You can get high resolution improvements in all kinds of music and soundtracks, esp. as things pick up in the later 1950s. Thanks for another thorough, excellent video. Your knowledge and love of music just adds on to how thorough you are about the quality you encounter on each release.
Elvis Presley '24 Karat Hits' is my favorite Elvis album, but my personal preference is for the DCC vinyl LP remastered by Steve Hoffman. The same goes for the DCC gold CD over the AP SACD. The AP is excellent sounding and you can't go wrong with it, but Steve really worked his magic on the DCC version, and it oozes with the 'breath of life'. Another great video Melinda!
Hi Melinda. Nice video. I HIGHLY recommend the Atlantic / Acoustic Sounds 75th Alice Cooper "Welcome to my Nightmare". It's a new listening experience for this album and blows away any version including the first pressing. It will blow your mind.
Great reviews. I have 100s of LPs from the 70's-90's, but haven't really listened to them in years. The Mo-Fi story and the vid you did caught my eye. Also got me ready to rebirth the old stereo. I also recently inherited my Dad's jazz (etc) collection from the 60's. Hundreds more that haven't seen a turntable in ~40 years! It is nice to hear someone like you that is obviously passionate about records, music and listening.
I'm delighted that you are inspired to start listening to records again. ♥️ Your dad left you an absolute treasure. I hope you do start listening and enjoying them again. It's wonderful that you kept your records all of this time. Thank you and take care.
My favorite thing about AP is that I never have had defects or noisy records. I know some others have not been so lucky. Also their packages are incredible. Never worry about warped records when you buy from them.
Great video Melinda. Some nice A.P. albums you have there. Unfortunately I do not have any A.P. albums myself but there are some good titles shown. Take care now.
My favs are the jazz and blues, you feel as though you are in the room -- being small, acoustic group settings they are much more likely to have that feeling. I especially treasure Muddy Waters' "Plantation" set.
Hey Melinda, thanks for recommending Ted Nugent. Just found one in 45 speed at our local HiFi store. You’re right, Ted has never sounded better ! Thanks Again !
Thanks for the great video, Melinda! I second mlblue535’s recommendation -- Scheherazade is stunning, a fantastic listen for both dedicated classical music fans and those just looking for an album of beautiful music. Both the 33 and 45 versions are superb. Another unexpected delight worth seeking out is the 45 version of Dusty Springfield’s “Dusty in Memphis.” Seems like an unlikely album for the AP treatment, but this version completely changed the way I heard “Son of A Preacher Man."
Aloha Melinda, You have an amazing collection of Analog Production recordings . I need to get a few more Doors 45 rpm's lp's I only got the 1st one , I think I'll buy L.A. Woman & Waiting for the Sun, & Maybe more.... That Ted Nugent self title has always been my favorite record album by him, I also Purchased that same 45 rpm pressing & it's amazing! Thanks again for sharing these awesome record albums. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
I have three of the The Doors 45's: the debut, Morrison Hotel, and LA Woman. Morrison Hotel sounds the best of the three with LA Woman a very close second. The debut is really good too, close to my original Monarch pressing of the landmark album.
Another great video Melinda! I too love AP and have most of the titles you mentioned (Ted Nugent & Stardust are on my list!). I would also add both Jeff Beck titles (Wired and Blow by Blow, both at 45rpm). Those will knock your sox off and I also love the Best of Sam Cooke - very nice, easy listening that I think you would enjoy, based on some of your comments. Chad mentioned it's sourced digitally because it's a comp but it sounds awesome at 45rpm
I don’t mind albums remastered at 45rpm. Many times when I go to bed, I like to play a side of a record so a side with less songs works out just fine. I’ve always thought the Doors albums were good sounding records so I bet that collection of yours sounds AMAZING. Ted Nugent’s first album is a must have. Great recommendations and video from the always awesome MM!
I love that Ted Nugent record. It's incredible. ♥️ You definitely have to get up and flip the record more often, but I love the 45 rpm records. They sound great. Thank you and take care.
The Pet Sounds Stereo version is one of the best sounding records in my whole collection. Another great one you should get is Counting Crows ‘August and Everything After’ - i know it’s a cliche but it does sound like the band is in the room with you. Great video.
I just went onto Acoustic Sounds site after watching your video 😅 wanted that Royal Ballet box but it's backordered. We love playing Witches Brew during the fall season. Thanks Melinda
@@MelindaMurphy Don’t they?! They’re paying the price of not being transparent in their mastering. Gonna be a long road of recovery for them. Will I abandon Mofi? Probably not. I’ll be selective in future purchases. We’re here to enjoy the music!
Great content as always Melinda. I know that you said that you're not really into the blues, but the Stevie Ray Vaughan 45RPM LPs sound fantastic. I especially love "Couldn't Stand The Weather".
I do have his Soul To Soul album that I think is good. I also like Albert King's Born Under A Bad Sign, so there is hope for me to become a blues fan. 😀 Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy I am doing the same thing with jazz. I have never been a fan, but I am finding some that I enjoy, like Kenny Burrell. In the end, if we buy what we love we will have no regrets.
While I am not a big Elvis soundtrack to his movies person I love Blue Hawaii. While it is not really a rock and roll album but more based Polynesian music, Elvis's vocals on this album is just out of this world. It is a great display of his vocal talent and worth checking out. It is Elvis in a different setting.
My husband and I watched Blue Hawaii last summer and I bought the album too. The movie was endearing and his singing was great. ♥️ I agree, he was very talented. Thank you and have a wonderful week.
I've only gotten one Analog Productions LP at this point having only jump back into the record collecting passion about a year and a half ago. But I've been looking at quite a few of their LPs including one they did of an Eddie Money LP. My mom was a huge, in the largest degree, Elvis fan. Growing up I remember all the Elvis LPS she had stored in the console that had a record player built in. I guess it was some of that 1960s type of furniture. My mom passed away in March of 2021 and just 2 weeks ago my sister brought up all of my mom's Elvis LPs for me. I did not realize she had so many. A lot of them go back to when my mom was very young too. There are at least 60 to 75 Elvis records, and they look like they're in great condition, maybe even mint, with the exception of two or three that the glue on the cardboard record cover started separating from. But those LPs still look glossy and flawless from my blind perspective. I'll be entering them on my discog collection as I go through and catalog them. I'm not selling any of them but I'm just organizing them and learning more about the music she loved so much. It's kind of funny because my mom heard Freddie Mercury for the first time on her birthday the year he died, November 24th, 1991 I believe, and she fell in love with Queen / Freddie Mercury music. I always liked the songs I heard on the radio from Queen but until my mom started buying recordings, CDs, and even tapes from a guy over in England, not even realizing that many of them were bootlegs, I never really had paid a lot of attention to Queen's music. I was able to convince her not to spend any more money and let me find the rare stuff for her since I was into doing that already anyway. But doing so, especially in the earlier years of Queen's music, really opened me up to some stuff I just had not explored yet. And I liked it too! It's going to be bittersweet going through my mom's collection and cataloging it. It'll definitely be bringing back some memories as it already has. But I'm looking forward to it at the same time and I'm going to be taking great care of what she enjoyed so much from the time before I was even born. I was a 1967 baby and from what little research I've done on a few of the Elvis LPs, I can tell they were made and she had gotten them before I was ever thought of :-) I'd love to get some Analog Productions Elvis material like you were showing in the video. I may look into that as well. As usual, I enjoyed the video and thanks for the great AP collection video and ideas! (Brian aka Bootradr)
I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious mom. I have been in your shoes and I know how hard it has been for you. I hope those Elvis records will bring back some wonderful memories. My mom loved Elvis too. Thank you and take care.
Whoa whoa whoa! You play clarinet and we are just finding out about this now!… k, well we know what you’ll be doing on your next vid then 😉 Always a great video. Thanks so much.
Another very informative video! Wow, great DOORS collection and thank you for talking Eddie Money, he is one of my musical heroes, he loved signing his album covers, he would wait around after shows and sign everything, seeing you hold up his album would have made him smile, and he would have autographed it for you, it's what he lived for. Thanks for sharing, Peace.
I wish Eddie was still around and if only I could have had an album signed by him. ♥️ He's one of my absolute favorites. I'm so glad you are a fan as well. I comment on his Facebook fan page occasionally and his wife always replies back. Thank you and take care.
I was lucky enough to meet an interview Eddie money twice when I was in radio... It was absolutely one of the kindest people and coolest guy I've ever met 🎸. Rest in peace money man
Great video! So good to see your collection. Also would like to see your acoustic sounds verve series and prestige (maybe on a separate video) also telling which ones to grab and which ones you could skip. Ps also not a fan of the blues really, I bought a couple that were supposed to be absolute classics but ended up selling, just not my thing.
I had to build up to jazz and blues. I came to blues from blues rock, but if that's not your thing you can come at it through R&B or soul. A lot of the artists cross over between the different styles, at least the good ones do. It's more improvisational, so it lacks the complexity of other forms but better describes a moment.
I'm not big into blues records but I do love jazz. I have been buying a lot of the Verve, Prestige, and the Impulse records from the Acoustic Sounds series. Maybe I can do a future video discussing them. Thank you and take care.
Melinda, I played clarinet too! I will check out the Ellington album, thanks for the recommendation. I also upgraded to the AP Eddie Money because I just adore that album. I have yet to be disappointed by AP.
Cheers Melinda, Don't think I was more than 5 seconds in you video when I just smashed the like button when I saw your The Doors shirt. You are on an absolute roll with this video. I can't think of many vinyl record subjects that are more interesting than AP/QRP. Their commitment to all analogues recordings is so heart warming. Other than the Norah Jones album, all of the records you showed are keepers in my book. I have many of them but not all of them. I was in hog heaven when you went through every single The Doors 45 rpm album. I have my three favorites so far, and I'm working toward acquiring the remaining three albums. I have the debut, Morrison Hotel, and LA Woman. The first album by them is my favorite. I have an original Monarch version of the debut album, and the AP/QRP 45 rpm is close to it. Doug Sax did a wonderful job on it, and I really appreciate the fact that tube electronics were used. Of the three, I think the sound quality on Morrison Hotel is the best. LA Woman is great too. I really look forward to hearing Strange Days, Waiting for the Sun, and The Soft Parade in the future. I didn't know that Waiting for the Sun is your favorite; I have a really nice original pressing of that album. I have so many AP/QRP pressings that I won't single out a favorite; they're typically great. You may be more interested in what AP/QRP vinyl release doesn't live up to the original issue. As I may have told you already, I have the true first UK pressing of Black Sabbath's Paranoid album on the Vertigo swirl label. I also have the deluxe version of the AP/QRP 33 1/3 rpm version of the same album. No exaggeration, the first UK pressing of Paranoid just blows me away. The AP/QRP version sounds really good, but doesn't even come close to the first UK pressing. Still, the AP/QRP version is definitely worth getting, especially if you don't want to fork over the big money for the first UK pressing. My only constructive criticism I have for you on your review of AP/QRP releases is that you didn't touch on their Direct-to-Disc (D2D) recordings. If you had one of those in your collection, you would very likely have a much different opinion about what the best sounding record in your collection is. All in all, I really enjoyed this video and thank you for taking the time to put it together! 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. I love having The Doors albums. It took me a while to buy them all but I'm so glad I now have them. The originals would be nice but I'm content with these. The UK Black Sabbath album would be great. 🥰 I have the Japanese pressing on the Vertigo swirl label. I'm sure the UK version would trounce mine. Lol. I don't have any D2D releases. I will have to look into that. Thank you and have a great night!
@@MelindaMurphy D2D is where the true audiophiles find heaven. You have no idea what you're missing! They beat UHQR and 45 rpm hands down. They are some of my most prized albums. You have a great night as well. 👍💖🎸😎
The first 5 original Doors pressings aren’t on the Monarch label. The first 4 are brownish- gold with a capitol E on top. Early pressings of Morrison Hotel are glossy red ( very rare) . LA Woman is on a grayish Monarch.
@@jackwezesa1081 Thank you for the heads up, Jack. You are right. I have the 1967 earliest Monarch pressing of The Doors' debut album. It is not the first press. All I can say is that it's the best version of this record I've ever heard. I have NM original issues of the other Doors records from eastern U.S. pressing plants. They sound really good too. I have heard from many people that the Monarch pressings are considered the best pressings of the The Doors' albums. I'm sure this is subject to opinion, but I don't plan to sell my Monarch pressing of the debut any time soon.
@@audiophileman7047 I can relate to what you are stating. I haven ‘t heard any Doors Mornach pressings but off the top of my head I can recall similar situations when a pressing a few years later bettered the original. Electric Ladyland by Hendrix sounded better 4 years later on the solid tan WB label. I heard they corrected the phasing. The It’s A Beautiful’ s 1st album ‘s drums sound like cardboard compared to the Columbia pressing a few years later. I know what you mean . Have a nice weekend.
Great video Melinda. I love AP's stuff. I have a Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood that sounds absolutely amazing. I'm hoping to see more rock titles from them. I'm not a jazz guy, so really wanting to see some rock come out. Rock on Melinda!
Hi Melinda you hit this out the park. AP is such a quality company. I was happy to have most of the releases in your video. I too have all of the Doors releases and need one more of Norah Jones’s releases by AP. If a person can not afford the 45RPM versions, the 33 RPM versions are good as well. The Royal Ballet is on my short list. The ones that you mentioned that I don’t have, I will grab a copy if available or put it in my wish list at Acoustics Sounds. Thank for all of the suggestions. But one label you should look at is Impex.
Great video my friend and i love to get that Elvis lp set you got maybe one day i get it and that be a great lp to play cause today is the day we lost Elvis on aug 16th 1977 and i love Norah Jones to you have a very nice collection my friend
Thank you! I still remember the day Elvis passed away. I was a little girl but I remember the wall to wall coverage on the TV and my mom watching every minute of it. This Elvis record sounds wonderful. It's pricey but very good. Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda! Thank You for another FANTABULOUS presentation! I highly respect Analogue Productions / Acoustic Sounds! I think the CEO / OWNER, Chad Kassem is a genious!!!! Did you know that Eddie Money's REAL last name was "Mahoney?" True story and I belieeve at one time he was a NYC policeman! Thanks, Melinda! Always enjoy your great channel!
I don't have any analogue production l.p.s just want to say thank you for inspiring me to start something new on facebook still a little shy to do my videos but some seem to like what I'm doing might have to smile a little though when I'm doing them.
I"ve never been disappointed with any of my AP purchases. To me, their quality and presentation has always been top shelf, whereas Mofi has always been kinda hit or miss for me (even before whistle was blown on them). The AP pressing of L.A. Woman is the best I've ever heard!
I have several MOFI records and except for Supertramp’s Breakfast In America they all sound a bit bright, thin, and with minimal bottom end. All of them. Where as AP sound rich, fat and very dynamic!
I have just a few Analogue Productions records, Junior Wells Hoodoo Man Blues and Bill Evans Interplay, and they're incredible. I should look out for more, so thanks for showing some of the others. Stardust is one of my favourite Willie Nelson records (sometimes Teatro is my favourite). The whole record is great but I really love the way he sings the last song, "Someone To Watch Over Me."
I agree. Someone To Watch Over Me is beautiful. I have thought about buying the Bill Evans "Interplay" record. I need to give it a listen. Thank you and take care.
Melinda, an excellent video as always. The only one that I would add to your very comprehensive list is either of the two recently released Steely Dan 45RPM 2LP sets. I am partial to Two Against Bature. But they sound absolutely fantastic. Makes me wonder what Chad will do next with the SD catalog.
Hey there. I have nothing of substance to add to any fidelity conversations (working with a Pioneer Elite receiver, Fluance RT-85 with Ortofon Blue cartridge, and Polk Audio tower speakers), but I just wanted to sound off and let you know that despite not being a joiner/subscriber, I have subscribed to your channel because I love your casual, personal approach to all this. It is fun to get a glimpse into your style and interests. I purchased Brothers in Arms and Thriller from MoFi recently, but nothing yet from AP. Waiting to compare Thriller to other pressings to determine if my ears are up to the challenge. If it is worth it, I'm happy to buy (my favs) on premium format. Anyway, keep the hits coming, sister. Great stuff... and if you ever have any Vulfpeck you don't want, just send those over here. ;) PEACE!
Oh wow! Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. I'm honored that you subscribed to my channel. I am anxiously awaiting the Thriller One Step. I can't wait to hear it. The Mobile Fidelity Brothers in Arms album is incredible. You have very nice stereo equipment and I hope you enjoy these releases too. Have a wonderful night!
I bought the Analogue Productions SACD of Eddie Money ,sound quality is huge, and if a person wants another a good example of good latter mid 70s rock , that is a great one to go to ..
I love Eddie Money. He:s one of those rare artists that had big hits on the 80's and made a huge comeback in the 80's with a ton of great songs. I'm sure the CD is awesome. ♥️ That would be a great way to go for Eddie's hits. Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda, I've never owned an AP LP. So this was a good educational video for me. Once again, I learned a lot. Pet Sounds would be on my list if I were to purchase AP. Somehow the Beach Boys are not in my collection and I need that one for sure. Also the Dave Brubeck would be sweet. I'll keep an eye out. And Elvis! Since i used to be in the Rock n Roll Merch. Business, as a buyer for one of the biggest Merch companies of the 90s, I'm always interested in your T shirts. We never had The Doors as a client as they were always signed to Winterland for their Merch. Maybe a future video featuring your TShirt collection? I for one, would be totally into that! Hope you have a nice weekend. Mark in MI.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely consider making a video about my t shirts. I do have quite a few. Lol. You had a very cool job and no doubt you have quite a few cool shirts yourself. Thank you and take care.
I had to chuckle when you mentioned guilty pleasures. For years I've been using that disclaimer for liking bands and singers that were considered non-cool during the 1970's. Well, you are right. It really is kind of silly using this disclaimer to voice your support for music you like. Well, now I'm older so I am going to officially come clean with some bands from that era I like that I will no longer call guilty pleasures. Here it goes. Abba, Carpenters, Raspberries and the Monkees.
Good morning Melinda. Great video! My opinion is of all The Doors AP records, Strange Days is Definitely the weakest. Shrill highs, no bass. On my system, the debut beats it no doubt. I’m So glad you got 24 Karat Hits by Elvis! Every Elvis fan should have it! If you think it sounds amazing now, you should play LP 1 (which is all mono) with a Mono cartridge! Oh my God! Before I got my mono cart, record one was the least impressive of the 3 sound wise. But now it’s Equal in sound quality with LP 2 & 3. If your cartridge is interchangeable like mine, I cannot stress enough how much it is Worth it! It has opened me up to a whole new world with vinyl. Now I’m searching out more mono records. That Ted Nugent is awesome too. I recommend a couple more AP records: Best of the James Gang w/Joe Walsh and Humble Pie: Smokin’. They’re fantastic. Have a great day
I appreciate the suggestions about the mono cartridge and the records. I wish I had picked up that James Gang album while it was in stock. I hope it comes back. Thank you and take care.
Can't go wrong with any of their jazz or classical titles. Both the Counting Crowes record and the Sarah McLachlan records on 45rpm blew me away. Also the Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions is very good.
I am also a huge fan of AP. I have many of the ones you covered and agree with your assessment (example best Doors quality-wise). There are two more albums I strongly recommend. 1) Stevie Ray Vaughan / Couldn't Stand The Weather 45 RPM Vinyl. 2) Arthur Fiedler / Gershwin: An American In Paris / Rhapsody In Blue 180 Gram Vinyl Record which is another of the great Living Stereo editions. Keep up the good work -I need to get the Ted Nugent one
A 45 single that brings me back to age 9 is Frank Mills, Music Box Dancer. It such a catchy uplifting piano piece and was a hit in 1979. Peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. My mom bought me the sheet music and I learned play this on the piano.
I looked it up out of curiosity and I remember that song very well. It's wonderful that you could play it on piano. What a great memory. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
My favorite Norah Jones is "The Fall." It's a great sounding recording produced by Jacquire King, whom I wasn't familiar with (he also produced Dawes, Modest Mouse & Shania Twain according to da webs). The songwriting is strong, the arrangements are quite good and there was a very cool poster included with one of my copies (I bought it on SACD also). Warning to animal lovers: werewolves are shot in one of the songs!
I'm getting into classical music now. 🎶 When I was young, I hated it. Today I love it. My favorite piece of music is Adagio for strings by Barber. If you haven't heard it ,do it's stunning. I have that Nora Jones album. It is good. I have seen Miles Davis in concert back in the 1980s I like Ted Nugents song Cat Scratch Fever from 1977. I love Willie Nelson he's wonderful to listen to. I own that album Stardust. Thanks for your recommendations Melinda.
Great video. I don't know if I ever will have a collection of wonderful sounding records like yours. I like have a mono Pet Sounds original. I have Morrison Hotel an original and have Ted Nugent album. So those are the records I have from this video. Again I don't own super collected Analogue Productions or Mo Fi records. I wouldn't mind but generally I get what I can out in the wild and of vinyls and cds and such as my budget can afford. Thus as I have a lot of cds as well as my many vinyls that I have and such and check along streaming to hear things these days as well. Take care 🎶
Having an original Pet Sounds album would be an absolute treasure. The Ted Nugent record was recorded well and the original sounds great. This version from Analogue Productions is stunning but I would rather be able to sleep at night than to get into financial trouble. You are being smart and I respect you for that. Thank you and take care.
Hello Melinda, I can't believe you still haven't picked up Fleetwood Mac Rumours @45rpm it is the best-sounding record in my collection pressed at Pallas if I sold my collection today that is the one I would never sell that's how good it sounds. Great video
I do have the Fleetwood Mac 45 rpm. I didn't know it was from Analog Productions. If it is that was a huge omission on my part. It's one of my best sounding records in the collection. Thank you and take care.
... wow! that Elvis statement! How an artist sits with you, and to make such a choice! Speaks volumes. I would choose Pink Floyd The Wall or Queensryches Operation Mind Crime I and II.
A little late to the party, but I just watched Chad / Acoustic Sounds vid yesterday. Beach Boys pressings are coming to an end. " Buy now, cry later " , hahaha. Aloha
You had us at Analog Productions, LOL! Thanks for the video Melinda, you always do a lovely job, we’ve been subscribers for awhile now. For us, Analog Productions is the best buy for the money for most. Our only complaint is that if you order direct from Acoustic Sounds, it takes a long time to get your shipment. Terribly frustrating. Our last order was “Bluesy Burrell”( highly recommended)and it took over a month to receive. It wasn’t even shipped for most of that time. Question, we noticed the outer sleeve you had on your Beach Boys “Pet Sounds.” Where did you find that sleeve? It looks to be one that covers the entire gatefold with the album opened up. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!-Chris & Beth🎧 P.S. Love Eddie Money, we met him awhile back and was so gracious. Great performer, great human being. Miss him terribly.😢🎷
They are an amazing company and I love every record I get from them. I agree that they are always very slow about shipping records. At least they are worth the wait. Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda. I have a few of those albums that you are showing. I have a few Doors albums,, certainly have Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. Loads of Miles Davis albums either on CD and Vinyl. Can I suggest for your Blues listening you try Stevie Ray Vaughan but for me get hold of Revelatory by Tedeschi Trucks Band. They are an incredible band. Regards. Dave
Nice rounded presentation Melinda Analog Productions - Been buying these from Acoustic Sounds since the early 2000s. AP got me to buy all the Lynyrd Synyrd 45 records - I wasn’t a fan - the production was that good and sold the band to me. I found the AP Beach Boys Holland to sound flat, lifeless I own 8 UHQRs - all but Steely Dan Pretzel Logic are fabulous. That is way off tonally. Those Doors 45 rpm are stellar I wish Chad had got some of the records that were mediocre on 1/2 speed master Abbey Road Studios. The AP Jazz and Classical are great Living Stereo Munch BSO Daphne and Chloe is one of the most dynamic performances committed to vinyl Can’t wait to hear what AP does with the Atlantic 75 45 rpm series As great as Analog Productions is, MoFI is for the most part poor remastering The Miles stuff is stellar.
I am a big fan of AP. They usually hit the mark. The White Stripes UHQR is unworldly. 🔥I also love MoFi. The Bob Dylan and Miles Davis records are incredible and I think Krieg has been doing a wonderful job with the Eagles, Jefferson Airplane and Run DMC. It's a wonderful time to be a vinyl collector, there is something for all of us. Thank you and have a wonderful evening. 🎃
I know from your videos that you like to hunt down wanted titles, often with success. My AP collection is fairly modest (though it does include the Doors and CCR boxes), but I do have a couple of titles that I don't often hear talked about much in the vinyl community: Joe Walsh: 'The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get' and Yes: 'Fragile'. Both are 33 1/3 and sound wonderful.
Unfortunately, I don't have the Joe Walsh record and I wish I had bought The James Gang release. It's not available right now. I didn't know AP releases Fragile. I bet it is terrific. 🤩 Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy In a recent interview Chad Kassem indicated that AP was sent the complete masters for the James Gang and Steppenwolf (AP did release the first Steppenwolf album on vinyl and SACD some years back, and I have these). I'm hoping that means he's in a position to release the first three James Gang albums and more titles from Steppenwolf, maybe even a box like AP did for CCR. So...hang in there and let's see what Chad has planned for the coming year!
Thanks for the great video. I do have a few AP's 45rpm by Lynyrd Skynyd. They are all fantastic. Recently I have been lucky enough to be gifted by someone in the States the AP's LA Woman by the Doors. Unfortunately with that album, I discovered there is a manufacturing defect near the end of the final track Riders on the Storm. It is a great track but to hear that particular loud click is most unfortunate as it really spoils this great sounding record!
Oh no! That is unfortunate. What a shame. I have a couple of hard to get records that do the same thing and I share in your frustration. Best wishes and I hope you can in some ways still enjoy the rest of the record.
Hi Melinda, I remember Analogue Production has a sub label that is focusing on blues. The prices of those blues records are usually not expensive. I get the feeling that the owner of analogue production is a big fun of blues. His taste in blues is unique and you shall check this sub label. I saw you have so many the door’s albums. Not sure whether you have the doors album Paris Blues. If you listen the Paris Blues you may know more about from where the doors’s music come. Paris Blues is A very very blues album
Looking forward to getting Bowie's 90s records and Dark Side of the Moon sacd from Acoustic Sounds. Saw Bowie in the 90s with Tin Machine. Me and the wife (oops, the Wife and me). At the Paramount, so was a small venue. Glad that happened. The Doors are perfect for 45rpm. Much Thanks!
I just scored an original Earth Wind and Fire-That’s The Way Of The World, and I was totally blown away by the sound quality, I don’t even know if it could sound better, I don’t even think I need to try another version because of how amazed I’am with this one😎👌
Great selection, you've definitely got a lot of the must haves from AP. I can't even remember how long I've been doing business with Acoustic Sounds - 25+ years I'd guess - in fact I've got a huge order that should be arriving on Thursday! Great company that really cares about giving people value added products. Pet Sounds in 45 isn't as bad as others may seem in terms of shortness, considering the singles format of the time. Agree on Elvis 24 Karat Hits, one of _the best recordings and performances_ - Golden Records a distant second. One more I'd throw out there is Getz & Gilberto. Maybe because I have my dad's original pressing, I've listened to it my entire life. The 45 is absolutely a top 10 60's jazz recording I'd put up there with Time Out.
I have the 33 rpm version of Getz Gilberto. They did a terrific job on that gorgeous record. The 45 rpm version must sound amazing. I have several records coming from Acoustic Sounds as well. I had pre-orders from the Prestige series. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Fantastic selections from Analogue Productions! I still need to listen to the 200 gram “Witches Brew”. I’ve had it for awhile now, but something tells me to wait on it. Maybe for a stereo upgrade? A few months back I finally got “Scherazade”. I’ve listened to that quite a bit. Can’t go wrong with any of those Doors albums! Viva La Doors!
I say play it and enjoy it now. After you upgrade your system, you will then be able to compare the before and after. It's a terrific sounding record. Thank you and take care.
I have Scherezade on reel to reel. It is incredible. I will say the bass drum does not have the extension or impact of modern recordings. The bass drum impact and extension of the early Chalfont digital lp of Scherezade with the London Symphony is a fun listen.
First pressing is always seem to sound better to me. There’s a lot of variables. Sometimes on second pressings the stampers wear out I’ve heard recordings that were beat up that sounded better than the mint copies because the stampers were closer to the original🤔
Doors s/t 45rpm is from a copy tape as the master is too damaged. If you want the best sounding stereo - get the dcc by Steve Hoffman (1992). That was the last time they were able to cut from the master via all analog. If you want the absolute best sounding mono of the album, get the VMP. I've had a dozen copies of each (stereo/mono) go through my hands (including originals) and system and I stand by my choices.
That Pet Sounds reissue really is stunning to say the least. Sadly, I bought the AP stereo 33RPM version a few years ago. Just two months after that purchase , AP released the gatefold 2LP 45RPM stereo reissue. Of course I would like to have that one, but seeing the price over here, I stick with the 33RPM version. They speak about the fear of missing out, but in my case you can be to soon. Anyway, thanks for showing this great albums.
Hello! Have you done a comparison video between two pressings from different producers? I think that would be neat to hear about the nuances you hear, what you liked about each, and which you'd choose if you could only have one. Maybe pick a few tracks that really stand out and do a video per album. Thank you for keeping the hobby alive and enjoyable!
I really enjoy listening to you, give alot of information, don't know if you have listened to her, but maybe you can give elles bailey a listen, has 3 out of 4 albums on vinyl
As much as I love the quality of Analogue Productions releases, I have recently sold off my Doors 45RPM collection and "downgraded" them to the Bernie Grundman Rhino versions. Why? As you mentioned, 45RPM can be a bit of a pain to change and honestly, the sound quality is not that much better than the 33RPM (in my opinion). Furthermore, the Rhino versions can be had for less than half the price of the AP versions. My favourite AP release in my collection is probably that Elvis hits compilation. I wouldn't say I am a big Elvis fan, but that pressing elevates those well known songs to a new level, fantastic stuff.
I agree that the Elvis record is wonderful. I know several people that aren't crazy about the 45 rpm records. There are great options either way. 😀 Thank you and take care.
After watching your video, I went ahead and ordered the Ted Nugent ''Ted Nugent" 45 RPM LPs. All I can say is WOW!!! I had seen this one on Acoustic Sounds' site but had no idea it was going to sound as good as it does. Your video really helped me pull the trigger finally and get it. So thank you! I've mentioned before that I am legally blind. So I'm going to ask this here instead of trying to find the video again where you talk about the most asked question you get haha. What is the brand name again of the qualitycovers you buy? I need to get some that will fit these type of LPs and I'm really impressed with how nice they look on the albums you show. I also bought the 45 RPM 2 LP Fleetwood Mac Rumors. It took me about an hour to finally get one of the regular record cover sleeves on that LP set. And then it split along the seams. I need to get some of those great covers for these specific types of releases as well as some of the types for the box sets. So I hope you see this and can help me out with the name of the company you use. I had looked them up earlier when I saw your 10 Most Asked Questions I believe it was called video (at least I just remembered which video it was now). I definitely want to buy some more AP releases and I hope that they start putting out some more great ones, like the Ted Nugent one, again soon. I'm looking currently at LA Woman and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Second Helping LPs from AP. I am so impressed with the quality and the sound on the Ted Nugent LPs that I will undoubtedly be replacing a few LPs I already have as well as getting some more that I haven't had from the AP lineup. Not that I have them on AP pressings already but I'd rather spend the extra money and get the better deal I believe it is. Thank you for any help if you can just tell me the company name for the covers/protective sleeves. And if there is a model number or any more detail I might need in getting the right ones for the larger AP types of covers, I'd appreciate any additional information as well. Thanks again...
I'm glad you picked up the Ted Nugent album. It does sound fantastic. LA Woman is another amazing sounding record. You can't go wrong with Second Helping either. My outer sleeves are from Vinyl Storage Solutions. I highly recommend the 4 mil thick dual pocket sleeves with tuckable flaps. That's what I use and I love them. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy Thank you so much for that information Melinda! And that's what I'm going to go with. I've been watching so many of your videos that I never could find the one that you were describing the covers in because you have so much great information and I forgot haha. I'm writing it down now so I'll look them up and make some purchases from Vinyl Storage Solutions. I'll tell them you recommended them also. Thanks again! Brian in Fort Worth.
Hi Melissa, I would definitely try and ask for a replacement from Amazon for the Rolling Stones set. It happened to me with a Bob Dylan box set, that they had replaced 3 times, but kept shipping it poorly packed, and the first one was in the best shape of them all, so eventually I gave up. But it's worth a try. I love that Chris Isaak album. I got mine from The In Groove a few days ago as well. Bummer about that unauthorized single, I sure home the store owner was clueless and made a mistake. Thanks again, take care!
The Chris Isaak album is definitely a highlight of the records I have bought recently. So good. I fear they will just keep sending my box set without protecting it. So frustrating. 😕 Thank you and take care.
