Aquarium floating plants commonly die because of water current at the surface. Floating plants do not like water movement whatsoever and they prefer stagnant water flow. This is the number one reason why aquarium floating plants die on on people. The best way to get less flow at the surface of your aquarium is to use a sponge filter and have it turned down to as low as you can possibly go.
When it comes to aquarium floating plants your lighting is a big deal. You need adequate lighting between the spectrum 5000 K to 6500 K. This is why most normal aquarium LED plants are but you need to make sure that the brightness is adequate. This is sometimes referred to as the lumens on the LED light. Floating plants prefer brighter lighting.

When setting up your aquarium light for your floating plants you should raise the light itself between 5 to 6 inches above the aquarium. This ensures that the ultraviolet light coming off of your life itself is spreading out to all the aquarium plants at the top of the surface. If you put your aquarium light on top of the glass lid and it’s too close to the aquarium water surface it will commonly burn your floating plants.
In the last important variable when trying to keep your plants alive he’s going to be water harness. The amount of total solve solids in your water can depict if you’re floating plan prefers that water or not. I have personally found that some plants will not grow in my water without removing some of that hardness. It is worth knowing this because if your plants are dying it may just be Something as simple as having to heart of water.

I have a 75 and a 35 cube, i grow many floaters great in the 35 but on my 75 they die :/ i had a 6 gallon cube as well and they grew great. My 75 has many plants and has been set up the longest by a couple years. Yet they just die (Edit) i think its because of the light how u mentioned, those cubes i talked about have a suspended light my 75 is basically right on the surface. I cant raise it since i have my tv on top of it but i think ima lower the water about an inch or 2. That way i could see the floaters as well and the light can spread and not torch my floaters. Thanks man definitely give that a try

You need and don’t have azzola!!! It’s my absolute favorite flouting plant behind mosaic Ludwiga witch isn’t a flouting plant per say but by far the prettiest way to take up water surface. Azzola is technically it’s a small fern species. It will turn red on the edges under good lighting like red root floaters and I’d say most similar in size and growing speed to salvinia.

How do you know how much flow you need? I have a 80ltr with a sponge filter and have quite a lot of flow which I feel is killing my floating plants however, thought I needed high flow for water quality and aeration
