A fish aquarium can turn to a yellow coloration in water due to driftwood. The aquarium water turns yellow because of what leeches out of the Driftwood. These are known as tannins. When the Driftwood inside of your aquarium is submerged into the water these leach out into the water column.
This yellow water inside of your aquarium isn’t harmful to your aquarium fish. It’s actually extremely beneficial in acts as an antioxidant and anti-fungal treatment to your aquarium fish. A lot of experienced fish breeders in the hobby actually purposely do this to their aquarium water.

The easiest way to fix or remove the yellow water from your aquarium is to just change a percentage of the water from the tank. Most Fishkeepers use a gravel vac or siphon to remove the water into buckets or a drain. The new water added to your aquarium will not have tannins added to it and therefore you can start from scratch.
As more time goes on with that driftwood in your water though you will continuously see the yellow water coloration from the tannins. The longer your wood is in your aquarium the less it leeches out those yellow tannins. The softer the wood added to your aquarium the easier it is to leech out into the water. That’s why fish keepers commonly use hardwood so that they leech less into the water.
