Filipino American here. Jo Koy is not lying. At least for me anyway! Mine wanted me to be a nurse, a doctor or anything in the medical field because they said it’s a stable high paying honorable job! For them, it’s really just about any high salaried jobs that doesn’t require you to do anything illegal or unethical with opportunities to go further and build your wealth. My parents main concern was for us to never suffer any financial hardships for the remainder of our lives because we already went through that during childhood.
Joe Koy is a B-Boy from the 80’s-90’s watch his Netflix special where he made it in the Philippines. You don’t have to react to it but it’s one of my favorites. I can’t remember the name but it is on Netflix.
As someone with a Korean mom, my parents put me through pre-optometry and JROTC 🙂. Hated it lol. My mom wanted me to major in biology which I eventually wanted to myself but I resisted it for a while.
