I’m Jamaican and we do that finger trick as well lol, we have a big Asian population in Jamaica so maybe they thought us way back when🤷🏾‍♂️😂

Korean mom- we did the flat hand method where you place your palm flat on the rice and fill it just until it reaches the knuckle. It's basically the same measurement

My family's from Hawaii and I can attest to all of this! Rice for all meals, we all have rice cookers, and we learned to make it the exact same way. 😂

Im Mexican 🇲🇽 we do the finger thing too. Ive gone on to realize that filipinos r Asian Mexicans. Theres so many similarities between both ethnicities…… this being one of the many similarities

You are correct. The Philippines used to be another Spanish colony prior to the Spanish American war. It was one of the territories they ceded to the US.

Recommendation for comedy: Robin Williams. There are two or three full length specials on RU-vid. Look them up and witness the legend himself making you laugh. He was like Carlin, the mold that made him broke upon use. We'll never see another like him.

I’m half Korean. My mom (Korean) measured the rice with her hand/wrist. Her hand was so small so it was easy. Hand palm down, water comes up just above the hand and it was perfect. My hand too big so I gotta use the finger method 😂

My X wife is Filipina. I grew up on Uncle Ben's 😂😂😂😂😂. She taught me how to make rice this EXACT way. I freaked out too with the finger thing lol. No matter how much rice is in there that is always the right amount of water. To the line under ur first knuckle lol. And washing the rice at least twice is essential. Only difference is I use a pressure cooker / rice cooker to make mine. Now Uncle Ben's taste like dog ish to me lol.

Yo my husband is Blasian and he was the one who taught me the finger thing and the first person I really knew who had a rice cooker. So we got rice cookers and all that in my house now.
