After my last video, which I have now changed the title and thumbnail, I received a lot of feedback. I did not realise what I was doing when booking the evening session for the inter/adv group, as I thought I would be able to keep up.
I do not recommend anyone to book anything but a beginners group session for your first track ride or even at a new track you have not ridden at before.
I hope this video makes sense and hopefully you will understand. I hope to continue track riding to improve on my track riding.
Hopefully, see you in the next one!
Don

I pretty much only ride on the track and you are fine. Realizing what you did and correcting it is all anyone can ask. Its clear you simply made a mistake because you had never been on the track. Honestly, its mostly the promotors fault, most i know wouldnt let a first timer in an intermediate/advanced group until they checked you out in at least 1 session in a beginner group. Youre fine as far as i can see. Keep going to the track, you will get addicted

It’s a track day, advanced riders should ride within their own limits and they should understand that others may not have the same ability of themselves. As an advanced track day rider you should be aware of this and take precautions when overtaking and following others in their group.

it happens man. This is a proper way to address a problem. No running around the bush and straight to the point. The internet is full of people who know "better" and I just let them be. Look everyone, we all made mistakes before and no one is perfect. You made a mistake and owned up about it. Great job man. Anyways, stay safe and rubber side down.

I was at that track Day, we had advanced lads in the Novice/Inters so it works both ways. There was a group of lads who also had their first track Day (4 of them) and you could tell they felt uncomfortable with all the advanced lot booking Novice because Advanced was fully booked

Yes I am not the first and not the last but I suppose this should help others to ensure not to make the same mistake. Although these track days are not to race, I get why the advanced riders are upset

Fair play, you made a mistake and learned from it. You still say your BMW is your first "race" bike though, it's not mate. It's a road bike, on road suspension, with road tyres, a road riding position, and no tyre warmers. Even in inters you would have been dead steady in the corners causing some dangerous closing speeds, so next time just jump in novice, start the sighting laps at road pace, build up slow and crucially enjoy it! I wouldn't be surprised if all the stick you've got puts you off track days tbh. The track day crowd can be VERY aggressive and bolshy especially on social media, so I hope it hasn't put you off. I actually think that for a first timer, your lines were alright, you were building up your pace gradually etc. I've seen far worse first timers. If you'd gone in Novice, you wouldn't have been the slowest and would have been a pretty safe rider. What your mate was thinking telling you fast was OK for you is beyond me as well, they need to have a stern word with themselves...

Fair play mate, I saw all the hate you were getting. It takes a lot of guts to come out publicly and hold your hands up and say yeah I was in the wrong.I think what you have done by making these two videos is crucial for the trackday community in terms of making sure these mistakes aren’t made again so hats of to you sir you’ve probably done more good than bad 👍🏼

Dont need to apologise...loads of people do it then realize it's a different ball game. Fast road and fast track are two different kinds of fast. The reality is slow riders in the fast group are a pain in the ass, but the real danger in the fast group is fast riders who think there in a race. Forget about it, start at the bottom and work you away up. Have fun....its what it's all about.

Dude, I massively recommend you go Novice to start with. I respect that you need to build up and get better, but your braking points and speed just aren't up to par for higher groups yet. First I would do is have your suspension set up properly by a pro (there is usually one present at each trackday). That's the best cash you can spend on your bike. Also, get your tyre pressures set right, pressures on track are very different on track to the road. Secondly, see if you can get an instructor for a session or two. No Limits Trackdays usually have an instructor you can 'hire' for nothing, MSV usually has a charge. Thirdly, don't lose confidence, take it forwards. You mussed up but you have potential. I hope this can be taken as the constructive advice that it is intended to be. Ride safe buddy.

I'm a fast rider on the road, but road and track are different. It's a different way of riding. Personally I think fair play for doing this. I've got a mate who's quick on the road but never 'got' track. Get yourself on track as much as you can and work your way up

Hya Mate I did saw the video of the track, and I don't know what all the "hate" that you recieved. I assume mainly they are not subscribers and do not know you. You did a mistake that plenty of riders done. Sending you my support mate. Hope to ride with u soon. Safe rides!

I think realistically you’re getting all of the hate for everyone that constantly puts themselves in the wrong group and put other people in danger. On some Days the fastest person in beginners is faster than the slowest in fast. Both equally putting others at risk. Fair play to you for owning up to your own mistakes though. Hopefully others will haven’t been on track learn from your videos. Ride safe!

You made a mistake, it was pointed out to you (some being less subtle than others) and let's hope other people who think they're fast understand that they need to work their way up. Its safest for all. Good response 👍

Takes guts to admit you made a mistake. I have ridden with you several times on the road and you are a very good rider, it is also true that track is a completely different ball game. I am sure once you have done a few more trackdays with will be very fast on track too. I will say this... I am an advanced track rider and many in the advanced group often forget that these are TRACKDAYS and NOT Race days!!! At Donington in early June I was almost taken out by some idiot who thought it was a race day and my friend who is a very experienced track rider was taken out completely by some young gun who also thought it was a race day!! A reminder to all.. there are rules on trackdays .. ie: safe overtaking and once someone has committed to a corner even if they are slightly wide you should NOT go for the gap!! It is not a race!

Other novices may have the same thoughts as you, fast road rider means fast track rider. (Not always like that). Lesson learnt. Now everybody just move on.

It's good that he own up to the mistake that he caused on his last video, specially front of camera cos there isn't a lot off people that will admit their mistakes publicly. Yes he did something wrong and he could of created terrible accident, but also we need to understand him that he was over confident and he couldn't resist to go out and test his new bike on the track. Don this is directed to you, next time you trying to book a session, don't try and go with your advanced friend for the simple fact when you are with him you might feel more capable than what you really are. Said this work on your line and breaking and in no time you will be able to chase the "advanced people". Have fun and be careful next time 🤙🏼❤️

Everyone makes mistakes, im sure you've had a lot of grief, everyone likes to have a giggle at other peoples expense but im sure its been bit of a train of abuse , Well done for putting hands up , many wouldn't ... I think your intended audience ( of people new to track ) and the booking a fast group is the main reason people took a beef , dont give up , maybe look at getting a little bike and push that to its limits, carrying corner speed it where the fun is im my opnion. BZ for holding your hand up all the best !

I think it's fair enough that you're apologising, and a lot of people who watched the track vid who don't do track days will not likely understand the level of backlash that you have received. The main issue yesterday was that you yourself didn't initially understand what you'd done wrong and you really bit back on some people actually trying to be helpful. If this got missed amongst the people calling you c*nts then fair enough. There's lots of riders who think they're fast because they ride fast on the road, but it is a whole other world getting a bike fast around a track, full stop. So it also didn't help at the start before you went out saying that you're fast as that was a red rag to trackday riders as you found out! Anyway, inters for a while, work on your lines and braking, and enjoy 👍🏼

Absolutely no need to apologise, nonsense that people have made you feel you need to apologise, it was inters/advanced so a MIXED group. If you’d booked advanced group that’s VERY different. Like I said in the previous video- there are PLENTY advanced who book in lower groups to get a space they need to remember that. Nobody died, no accident. Those who are advanced passed you with ease. 🤙🏾🤘🏾

Having watched and enjoyed your track day vid, I dont think you done anything wrong, a slight oversight being in the wrong group, but as you said you never done it before and on the BMW you would properly be way faster than beginners so it no different, and no one was killed, you cant please a purest..keep up the good work. Booking a track day myself. 😁

Thing is he could have caused a serious accident as riders in the fast/advanced group are expecting others in their group to know how to ride a track and stick to their lines. However good on him for acknowledging his mistake.
