Highkey got sad when Ollie said he isn't smart. I actually always find his questions and insights incredibly interesting and clever when he speaks in english and is comfortable with it. But him being slow at picking up a language doesn't mean he isn't smart. I understand he must be really frustrated but I wish he didn't feel that way. He's genuinely so intelligent and I'm not just saying that to be nice.

I really don't like how Ollie think of himself of someone not smart. I've binge watched their episode on Jolly and Ollie remembers explains something he read from years ago. He's a really intelligent person. I mean look at how great he speaks Korean it is a very hard language it's different from the language he grows in.

Honestly i never understood why ppl say Ollie is so ‘hard to teach’. This guy never lived in Korea, or have any direct ties to a Korean. He probably studies Korean on and off for the past years because of other commitments (like he has an actual kid), probably doesn’t consume much Korean media, but ppl expect him to pick up Korean fast without lots and lots of mistake? He was never an idiot to begin with, just had extremely limited exposure. I’m suprised that Josh was that surprised of Ollie’s capabilities. Ollie deserves more respect than that lol. Next series we should drop Josh in the middle of nowhere without phone or money 😄

i know this was posted forever ago but i hate how much josh pushes ollie down when it comes to korean. his progress during this trip is insane and the fact that ollie literally said ‘im stupid’ multiple times is so upsetting. josh was out living it up, eating whatever he wanted and driving a luxury car and he just told rosemary that they have to ‘figure it out’ even though ollie is getting upset and she was very obviously worried? every person in this series other than eric get upset and frustrated with ollie even though hes never NEEDED to speak korean his whole life and yet every native korean were super patient and understanding of the fact that he’s new. even when ollie is getting a little confused, josh stepping in and apologizing (other than when ollie is accidentally rude) is unnecessary. just look at how much progress ollie made in a couple of hours just asking people where to eat; that should show how smart he is and that he has learned a ton. watching ollie speak korean helps so many beginners because they are most likely making the same mistakes. most of the people who are already fluent in korean as a second language some how forgot that they were also in ollies position at one point. just because ollie wasnt studying 24/7 for 2 years doesnt mean he has no idea what he’s saying.

I wish that Josh would understand how much Ollie went through in that video. I wish he understood how sad Ollie might have been while having no food and struggling for money

i’m rewatching this and honestly when ollie tells the driver that he’s not smart and that he’s studied a lot but he’s not good, that part hits me the hardest because i relate. i’ve been studying for so long and i’m lucky to have very supportive friends who help me, but if i had friends constantly calling me an idiot i would probably be very discouraged if i’m being honest. i am in no way trying to analyze their friendship or telling them how to live their lives, it is just my perspective

If Ollie hadn’t succeeded it would’ve been so humiliating and dehumanizing. Even when he succeeded you could still tell he was discouraged and blamed it on his Korean instead of the fact that he had no money. The scenes with Josh, Joel, and Adam in the car just rubbed me the wrong way. I hated this idea the moment Eric suggested it, but I had no idea Josh would actually do this. This really went too far.

I didn't expect the emotions that would fill me in this episode. I was frustrated for Ollie. I feel bad for what he had gone through. Most especially when he's telling the driver his experience and how bad he is at learning Korean. My tears were literally around the corners of my eyes. To Ollie, don't be too hard on yourself. You're not an idiot nor bad at learning. You're trying and giving your best and that's part of learning. Thank you for making us laugh but be moved with your meaningful words. You're a smart, creative and funny guy. Keep it up 😄😆👏👏

I love Ollie and Josh and I understand that this was a mission for the sake of a vid but I hope foreigners don't try this in Korea during trips. Making money without a work visa is illegal and this is only cute because it's Ollie, a youtuber who is loved in Korea, but it would frankly get annoying to see a bunch of foreigners emulating this behavior because they think money will roll in this way.

Ollie's little monologue with the driver near the end was rather sad. And the way he kept the empty Snickers box through the whole journey, like he was holding onto every small possession because that's all he had!

As one language learner to another, you are doing great Ollie. I have been learning English for 16 years now and still struggle with it occasionally (a friend said the other day that someone set the table in the park and was rude, I thought someone brought real table with tablecloth and plates etc and I thought they ate without sharing the food with others and that's why they were rude, turns out they were rude because they were selling something (so they set the table) and said mean things to customers. This is just one of many examples). You being able to find your way despite not having the wallet or not being as fluent as Josh is amazing. I mean if someone left me like that, I'd just sit and cry even though I am pretty confident in my nonverbal and English speaking skills

The fact that Ollie was taken away from everything he needed to do what he had to do is hurtful because looking at him, he's still as adorable as he can be, smiling, talking to passersby :')

nine minutes in the video and I'm crying - legit balling my eyes out crying and sad for Ollie cause they're all eating and having fun and he's just........ This video was an emotional rollercoaster. Most of the of the time it was fear and concern for Ollie and the Crew, then it was anger and frustration towards Josh and the guys for leaving their friends behind and then just relief when Ollie, Rosemary and Ducky finally made it safe and sound.
