It's not about the lens, it's all about the conditions and having the ability to make the most of those conditions, which is something you do better than anyone, fantastic set of photos Stuart.
Amazing photos! In the presence of beauty totally beyond words, you captured a series of photos any one of which we landscape photographers would consider a lifetime best! Your use of the light and the contrast of warm and cool tones was so artful in the creating of these fine art photographs! I'm stuck for words just like you were in the video - simply stunning!
Wow Stuart, those conditions were amazing, and even better were the images that you captured, easily the best images of frost that I've ever seen. Your favourite image was mine too, absolutely phenomenal shot!
Some beautiful images, Stuart, in some stunning high contrast conditions. As one of your fellow U.K photographers might say,"It doesn't get any better than that.
finally watched this - and it's every bit as special as I had anticipated from the images you have posted. I think you can safely say you did those conditions justice mate. Those images are some of the finest landscape photography I have seen, they still just do my head in!!! Congrats mate, richly deserved.
I have been really lucking forward to watching this video after seeing the image Stuart. It is amazing! You really captured the excitement of being there and it looked like it was out of a fairytale. Really chuffed for you and this is without doubt my favourite image from any photographer of 2022. Side note - it goes to show that people shouldn't care about gear as the 24-200mm is thought of as the 'weakest' lenses being an all-rounder. But conditions, compositions and talent are all way more important than gear. Thanks so much for sharing this!!!
Very kind of you to say mate thanks 👍 re: the lens - if I ever get round to sorting I’ve a video comparing that lens forensically against the 70-200z, at F8 at most focal lengths in my testing it was splitting hairs to be honest. A morning like this when the hands are numb not needing to switch lenses is a godsend! Far rather have that than the marginal IQ increase anyway.
Absolutely unbelievable stuff Stuart. I can so understand how you're feeling you're not getting the best out of the conditions you're presented with when they are this incredible, but you you bagged some top quality portofolio images there.
Incredible and I feel blessed that you were there to experience it and share it with us. Yes, indeed these shots are one in a million and am very pleased for you. Well done for capturing it so beautifully.
Inspiring and as ever honest video. Your sense of inability to concentrate given what you were seeing resonates ( not that I’ve ever experienced quite those conditions) . And you totally nailed it ! Amazing imagery that did full justice to the glorious conditions
What a location, especially with that hawe frost. The ferns look fantastic against the silver birch, with the orange and blue tones working well. Fantastic images (as always) Stuart, hope you've had a great Christmas all the best for 2023.
What a stunning conditions, this looks like a fairytale!!! And your favorite image is absolutely stunning, congrats on that!!! Have a great Christmas time!!
My first view of you today and that place is breathtaking for sure, but with my family watchin with me I wish you could make it more family friendly... beautiful images and drone video was amazing !
a maze ing, very pleased for you, but ever so slightly jealous! Thanks for sharing. Hope you manage to get through the festivities without more flu; our lot are all down with it.
Absolutely fantastic images Stuart. Anyone who is not overawed by such scenery must be living in another dimension! My favourit image of this shoot is the gateway at the end! Well done! Have a good chistmas and a happy new year to you.
Absolutely beautiful, thanks for taking the time to put videos together in conditions like this, I know it sacrifices precious time for photos in the moment! But safe to say these videos have their own value also ❤
It's alright if you like that kind of thing I guess 🤣 Stunning place and conditions with a topping set of images. The one you like is lush but I'll give a vote to the one you were struggling with LOL before the end,
Wow wow wow 😮😮😮 Stuart you more than did justice to the conditions that morning. Stunning conditions and gorgeous images. That favourite of yours is wonderful composition and lighting. I am actually torn as I was already thinking of how to get a print from you of it but then I saw the last image in the video with the gate and valley view and that’s sublime too!
Hi Stuart, to get those conditions once a life would be lucky indeed, so to be a bit overawed when you wander into these scenes is hardly surprising. I think I'd have been simply stood there slack jawed and come away with almost nothing useable - and never quite forgiven myself, so you did really well to slow yourself down, show real presence of mind and capture some truly excellent images. Shot 2 really is outstanding on so many levels. Well done - with any luck it'll go well in the gallery and be popular!
Stunning conditions there mate, i can see why you were a little overwhelmed to begin , especially in a un familiar location but wow you made the best of it. Really liked your favourite image that is special and im sure will sell in the gallery, the images at the end were stunning especially liked the final two images , they were also really nice images i m sure would sell well. Happy Christmas to you and yours all the best for the new year and look forward to seeing more from you then, take care mate.
Stunning imagery, Stu. Brilliant location and the conditions looked out of this world. Can't say I've ever witnessed anything even remotely like it and certainly not in my neck of the woods. Knowing where to head for when you have a particular set of conditions is a big part of it, though you've then got to know what you're doing, be methodical and really search out those best compositions. Not an easy task when faced with a huge wall of potential opportunities and I do wonder how both you and many other respected landscape photographers do it. I guess it comes with practice and experience? I wait in anticipation of what delights you will bring us in 2023. In the meantime, have a great Christmas and I'll wish you a happy and healthy New Year!
Hi Stuart, What a fantastic video, thank you for posting, What an absolutely stunning location & conditions, which allowed you to capture 1st class images that would win awards mate. I totally understand how you can become overwhelmed with such beauty & conditions.
Stunning images Stuart - the dream of mornings like this are what get photographers out of bed at silly o'clock and keep us coming back for more :) Loving the last image of the gate as well :)
Wow, Stuart, you were right about the conditions being fabulous in this video. I've never been lucky enough to capture any decent hoar frost - the last time that I have seen something like this I was at work and couldn't get away. Apparently, we (the UK) are about to get another cold snap just after Christmas and I've got most of next week off - so fingers crossed! Your favourite shot certainly is a cracking image. Thanks for this years uploads and I hope you and your family have a great Christmas. Here's to what 2023 may bring us, hopefully, a good year. Cheers.
No wonder you were near delirious, the conditions were Magical, your favourite shot is a beauty, I think I would be going for a really big print, I think in those conditions I may have started singing and that would have been a horrendous disaster. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year.
Watching your eyes dart around the scene in front of you I could sense this image burning through your retina into you brain. A morning you will never forget. I had the same once with haw frost. It transforms a scene that not even snow could compete with. It’s my favourite shot I’ve seen this year too. Fantastic job Stuart. You’re dead right about going into panic mode because there are brilliant scenes everywhere and it’s so fleeting too which makes all the more special to witness.
Gosh but you must have gone home a very happy man. What a place and so many shots to die for! Superb stuff. I don't think I would have been able to sleep that night.
Wow Stuart! As someone who lives in a subtropical climate, these conditions are an absolute bucklist item for me. Could see shots everywhere you pointed the camera. Can see why you were struggling with overload! Stunning shots!
Amazing shots, Stuart! I like no. 2 mostly, the contrast between the warm tones of the ferns and the cold blue bachground looks fantastic. Thank you very much!
Well, if I had to be picky I'd say...No, I'm completely kidding. That second image is stunning, literally - you appear suitably stunned. If you end up selling prints of that shot, count me in! 👍
Just absolutely stunning, I would not have wanted to leave if I was there. You certainly nailed that 2nd shot. I will be watching the weather in new year now in hope of some hoar frost conditions.😀
