This video came up on my account again today, I loved it the first time, I just had to watch again, the blue chip and dip is beautiful. Classes, in Adult education start on the 26th this month, it's been too long so if my hands remember what to do, in throwing, this might be the thing I make. Such alot has happened since this first showed, so let's hope sooner rather than later, you physo gives you back your wings to fly, you can be all brand new and throwing again x😊
Hi from Australia. It's an absolute pleasure listening to you and watching your demo's. I'm about to restart my pottery journey after loosing everything in a bush fire. You've given me great inspiration and joy. Like you, i think pottery is fantastic.
You, my dear, are an excellent teacher! I love how you talk us through and show us each step. Your voice and obvious joy in what you do make your videos so relaxing and soothing. I can't wait to get to my wheel tomorrow and make some of these. Thanks for being you! Happy New Year. 🤗
That is one awesome chips and dip bowl!!! You are indeed a great teacher and I most definitely appreciate you sharing how you make your beautiful creations. Clay brings me joy!! ❤️
Great video! I am intrigued with the joining of the dip bowl. Lots of fine work there. Timing is important! I hope your recovery is quick and free of discomfort!
Ever since you mentioned in a previous video that you were going to share with us what your best seller was, I have been so excited to see! I hand build only so I need to adjust accordingly. THANK YOU so much for sharing!!!
You've inspired me (a baby potter) to aspire to making 2 in my aecond 10-week pottery course. Keep going baby potters, its amazing how much you imprve from 10-hours to 20-hours! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow I absolutely love it!!!♥️ I've only been doing pottery for a year now, I absolutely LOVE the 'magical' about it 💞. I struggle with big bowls 🤔 but this one is priority, thank you so much for being an inspiration. 🤓 Hope that knee recovers fully soon. 😁 Happy pottery 🤩
Tiffinie I love these! I've never been a fan of one piece chip/dip sets, but you knocked this one out of the park. Now I've got to try this! LOL I'm glad to see you up and around. Let's hope this new year brings you health and happiness, my friend!
Ahh, thank you. Lol, not up and around yet. Surgery was pushed back to the week before Christmas, so I'm in the thick of recovery. Ugh. I totally agree with you about the chip and dip bowls. You'll have to share a picture when you make yours.
Thank you for a great tutorial. When the studio opens up again on January 3 that will be high on my list for pieces to be made. Hope your recovery is uneventful. I've had my knees 23-25years and still going strong.
That's sooo great to hear! I sure don't ever want another knee surgery again. 3 in one year is overkill. Good luck. It's a fun project with a great function.
While watching, I started seeing the image of a ¾ moon, and thought it would look really cool to glaze the larger bowl in lighter mottled colors as the surface of the moon & the smaller bowl in darker with light speckles as a dark sky with stars.
❤️ this is how I make chip and dips also . I am in S. Illinois. I have a son just outside of SLC. I will have to look you up next trip there. I tell all my customers at markets that “Clay is MAGIC and the best thing ever”! Also. We may be 2 peas in a pod, lol
T, this is New Years day that I am watching your video and just wanted to wish you and yours a most wonderful 2023, wishing you HEALTH (get your knee better!) HAPPINESS, LOTS OF CLAY! and LOTS OF LOVE. 🥰
This is exactly what have been wanting to make for my husband and myself for tacos and selsa. I can no longer use a wheel so am using a bowl mold, now hoping to fine a smaller bòwl mold to cut in haĺf like you did here, thankyou.
I sell them currently at $55, but thinking it's time I raised some pricing as clay and glazes, even my electrical has gone up. When I sold them wholesale to a gallery in Park City, he sold them for $65.
Tiffany, you showed two finished bowls. Pitch black and coastal blue on the darker one. What glaze did you use on the lighter, "sea foam" color? Your yoga reference is very appropriate. Well done and thanks. You answered all my questions before I asked them.
Brilliant, I will definitely have a go at these. I only have two hydro bats so will throw the small bowl ,remove from wheel onto a plaster slab? Maggie from Derbyshire England.
Just recently found you on RU-vid. Love your tutorials and have subscribed. I got a hydro batt for my birthday and got another one for Christmas. YAY! I love them too. Wonder if using the ribs on them cause dents or chips in them? Hope you are recovering well and not too bored while going through it. I'm from Canada and experiencing rainy dark days so am enjoying the light in your studio. Our winter has been very unusual this year. Love your view! Take care of you and don't rush even if bored. It ultimately takes longer to heal. Just think of all the time you have to plan new projects. I look forward to your next video. Take care!
Being from Alaska, Canadians are some if my favorite people! I've used the hydro bats in my studio for two years now, 10 students use them too, and haven't had any problems with ribs denting them. Whatever they're made of is stronger than plaster. Yes, I love my view and studio. I've was recently told by my doctor that I have to take time to heal and that this is my 3rd surgery in 9 months, and it'll take longer and to be patient. Patience is something I've always struggled at. So I'm having a "dark" winter too. 😀
I just watched your chip and dip demonstration for may be the third or fourth time. So appreciate your demos. I am curious the reason why we let it sit out for three or four days to dry covered in plastic. Is that to minimize the possibility of cracks?
Thank you so much! Thrilled you're enjoying the videos. I do let them slowly dry under plastic to help minimize cracking. In winter, I leave them covered 3 or 4 days. I'm summer I will leave them coveted longer as we are so dry here in Utah, that they dry too fast and risk cracking. I hope that helps and good luck!
Do you trim the foot, bottom at all? Guess the half dip bowl would need to be a bit under the large bowl rim. Also what glaze did you use and cone if you don't mind sharing. Very clear video. Thanks so much for making.
I don't trim them. I clean them up on the wheel and throw thin, so no need to trim. I fired to a cone 5 using pitch black with coastal blue on the rim from Clayscapes. Glad you enjoyed the video.
How would you do it to make the smaller bowl with a round bottom and not a flat one so it is maybe nicer inside the big bowl for cleaning once it has been used.
Thanks for the great video! I like your take on the mini bowl application. I do have a question concerning the butter containers. I have been looking on line for dimension suggestions. Mainly for where the butter is put. I hand build and know how I plan to assemble it but stumped on size.
Great idea to hand-build a butter crock. For measurements, you need a cylinder that will hold at least a stick of butter and be smaller than the container it'll sit in. Maybe try building the containers in paper to get the dimensions.
I do get the coil wet, but it's because I completely smooth the coil into the clay. With a handle, it's like stuck on there, but if you completely blend both ends of a handle, you don't need slip either.
Well, unfortunately, since I'm recovering from a total knee replacement, it'll be awhile until I can get on the wheel and make some more. I'll let you know when I have some. 😀
