i can only imagine the mental strength and courage that it takes for ANY woman to chop a great portion of their hair off, the hair is truely a woman's crown & glory but for a woman to have lived most of her life dealing with one type of hair texture and having to learn how to manage her natural texture is a BIG STEP.....ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT TEXTURE IS THE ONE OF THE MOST CURLY TEXTURES AROUND. congrats on your big chop....you were always lovely, BUT YOU LOOK ALOT MORE BEAUTIFUL NATURAL
You make me want to do a BC....oh....my hair is already natural. Real talk.....this made me cry and reminded me of when I got cut my hair (the third and last time). So many black women are bound by their hair and cutting your hair has this overwhelming sense of FREEDOM! I tell women to do it at least once in their lifetime. You and I are on the same natural journey I waited 7 months as well and big chopped April ...Celebrated 1 year this year and it has not been easy but its well worth it..your hair looks beautiful

I am in my 7th month of transitioning and my new growth is about the same as yours. Your video has inspired me to to do the BC this week. absolutely beautiful. Everytime I watch someone else bc It makes me really happy because I know that for me I made the right choice. I did my bc yesterday and I love my hair. it is sooo beautiful. I cant beleive I didnt see what was there all along.

I thought that was really beautiful. I also wore roller sets and braids until it was time to chop it off. My big sis gave me the courage after her gorgeous BC. She looked like an African Queen and you know lil sis always want to jock big sis.

I started to fall in love with the way my new growth looked and the waves and curls when it was wet..Next thing I know it was7 months without a relaxer and I just couldn't take the 2 textures anymore it was crazy...so I took it alllll off..and I'm telling you I was madly in love with my long hair as well...BUt when U finally BC its like such a crazy beautiful feeling and experience
beatiful journey! when transitioning it gets very tedious to deal with 2 textures...i was able to last a little over 3 months. the initial "shock" with a bc is the drastic change in length...after the initial shock wears off you begin to love the shorter, nearly fuss free hair! best wishes to you! indeed it will grow back in no time!

I cut my hair about 2 months ago and I was called very rude names that I can not repeat but when I get on here and I can see other people just as beautiful and they make the transition... I'm currently transitioning and the 'two texture' issue is definitely bugging the hell out of me. I keep going back and forth on whether or not to just wait until it gets longer before I cut or just do it now. I'm petrified. You looked gorgeous after it as all said and done though. Kudos to you!!!

just beautiful Girl!! you had more hair left on your head than was on the floor. thats how it is tho. when we are relaxed and thinking of going natural, we try to hold on to that last bit of length, even if it's stringy or broken off...you look amazing with your natural. i know this is an old video but wow, gorgeous!
Your video has inspired me. I have been transitioning for four months, and it's hard convincing my husband that it will be alright. I'm comfortable, but he is skeptical.
@Tennissgirl Your hair is growing, it just grows a half an inch every month. The only thing I can think of to persuade your mom to let you do the big chop is to talk about it to her. Tell her that it would be so much easier to take care of your hair since it would be less prone to breakage and it can possibly grow a little faster. I believe you would want to wait a little longer before you cut it. Good luck ;D

I did the same thing..I chopped off my locs because it was too much for me to handle..now I wear braids or an afro..beauty is vain but the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
@prettiegirl1407, I was the same way. I started transitioning in april 2010 also, and did my BC in february. I had bren debating on doing it, but one day after I got out of class, I went to the falon, and once I sat in the chair and knew I couldn't turn back. I have never felt as beautiful as I do now, and I love watching videos of others getting their BC. I have inspired several ppl around me to go natural. you'll know when you're ready though, and I promise you won't look back...
