Take those chances man, you will always regret missing an opportunity, so going for it and being aggressive is your best choice. You have to make the opportunities happen, waiting for them without being aggressive almost always ends badly.

One day my Sponser asked me, "Mark how can one man change the world?" After thinking about solving hunger, all the changes one would have to make to impact the whole world, he explained to me the difference was a simple as the glasses I was looking through. When the man puts on a new pair of glasses, he sees the WHOLE World differently, for that man he has changed the whole world. That journey from the head to the heart, that is an internal journey brother. It has to start there. Am I ever going to be a successful Race car driver? I Am a successful Race car driver ! What separates the question mark and the exclamation mark on these two comments is a simple as the shades you are wearing Suellio. The the people in charge of investing effort, money and time to who should be in that car have made their decision. You are now in charge of what is in your control. I challenge you to make peace with the fact that you belong. This is your story, Suellio Almeida the successful SIM racer, turned coach, turned Pro Race Driver. Get on with it!

Not being the best at something youve only been doing for a year just means you have a goal and I hope you reach it someday. Youre and inspiration to a lot of people and someones kid will see your hardwork and will follow your path. You are living a dream and Im sure any pro racer will tell you it wasnt all yellow bricks.

You mentioned working with a mental coach so this might come as obvious. The more mental energy you spend on talking to yourself, trying to figure out why you cannot do something, the less energy you have to actually focus on doing the thing. This is where I find meditation practice to be extremely helpful. The skill of meditation is to be able to "ignore" thoughts, let them go and just do what needs to be done, nothing less nothing more. Hope this helps my dude. Loving the content :)

I think The Racing Driver by Dennis Jenkinson would help you. Btw it’s normal to have realizations after the race that you’re not getting during the race. Everyone does that. The more often you see a situation in a race, the better you will do at reacting correctly on the spot. The ppl who are doing that better than you have been in that situation more than you. But eventually your aha moments will move from the pits to the driver seat. Also the fact that you’re catching up in the braking zone might the REASON why you’re losing ground in the exit.

Great driving it's going to take time to get that confidence to be more aggressive , I'm sure you'll get it, but everything happens for a reason , if you committed to those passes it might have ended up in a smash so you made the right decision with your gut feeling to not pass. Just go for it on race 2 next time , get thought race 1 so the car is good 👍 looking forward to more races

Awesome content man, really cool to follow the journey! You're a good driver, but ultimately, any move you make in racing IRL DOES come with a real risk. Part of it is definitely gonna be pushing through the fear, but unlike in a sim, you do gotta really pick your battles. No overtake is worth getting hurt (or having to pay for a damaged car). Be safe man That move on the last lap of race 1 buddy made was some real poor ettiquette btw, I'd be pissed too if I were you

Suellio, thanks for this video. Excellent lap-by-lap post race analysis and very good observations. I do think you're being a little too hard on yourself though. That was some great driving. First, you're being cautious which isn't all bad. Especially in the beginning as one of the biggest obstacles to improvement is when a track or race driver crashes early and then has a hard time getting back up to speed (some people never do). You're building good habits and learning from your experiences, excellent. Once you have that base of driving comfort and confidence then you're more and more able to get into the aggressive mindset. Second, open wheel racing is a different ballgame. Wheel to wheel contact can get ugly fast but you will get slightly more comfortable with running closer and closer to your competition. I would strongly consider renting a race ride in Spec Miata (these guys play rough and close) or an Endurance team (like Champcar or Lucky Dawg). It's not "expensive" and you will get to run VERY close to other cars. Either way you will get a lot of real-world passing experience and like anything else, it's a learned skill. Spec Miata is very aggressive but without the risk of open wheel so you get to make mistakes without the pain. Finally, you seem to run slightly further away from the car you're hunting (might also just be the video, I dunno). This means when they make a mistake, you aren't always close enough to capitalize on it. That's not aggressiveness as much as comfort. In addition, you need to "fill their mirrors". Be on them. Don't ever be dangerous but let them know you're going to capitalize on any mistake. Fill the left, then the right. They need to feel the pressure. If you can get your front wheel up to the middle of their car and they can see you out of the corner of their eye, you're probably going to get the position and they're much less likely to turn-in on you. This is often LESS risky than staying further back. Look at Randy Pobst's "Vortex of Danger". Anyway, awesome job and excellent videos. Keep up the great work!

Hey man, I race cars in a Costa Rica championship, I know it sounds crazy, 1st when you are going into the race you have to think you are better than everybody at the track, second you have to lose respect for everybody if you play to be the "good" racer, the others will take advantage of that. Waiting for next races I hope you can improve!

Pretty typical of someone who is getting into it and actually thinks about the consequences while out there. See it a lot when I am coaching pretty much everyone that isn't from karting. Just takes a fine line between aggression and self preservation. Its tough because when you get into bigger size fields the less aggressive you are the more dangerous it gets. You leave the choice up to the other guy if you will crash or not. Making a move puts the trust in your own skillset.

Trying to be ''braver'' isn't going to make you faster if you need to brave it means you're guessing how fast to go and you don't ''know'' how fast to go. Practice taking in more detail and getting better at feeling and visualizing things in even finer detail only then will you have the confidence to push when you are not making a guess you can just see it in your mind and you know 100% you can enter at that speed. 99% of the time who is faster comes down to who can take in more detail than the other guy that is where feel comes from and feel combined with a highly detailed mental image of the task at hand gives confidence not bravery.

Looks to me like you were being appropriately careful. The cars in front had advantages over you, maybe in grip or technique. Work on your pace, not your aggression, and then you will have better chances during the race. You don't want to be the sim racer who comes in and starts crashing because he's trying to drive beyond his current ability.

I think you are too hard on yourself for driving safe. Personally I don't think you should have taken those chances.. You are just thinking critically. The other drivers on the track are inexperienced as well right? It's pretty scary trying to pass people that don't know what they are doing and you know they don't know what they are doing lol. If they were professionals that you were racing against I feel like you would be much more comfortable because you would trust them. When you don't have faith in the other drivers you are racing with on the course then you can't hold any move you didn't do against yourself 😅 You were just being smart. I would continue only making smart moves when you are on the track with inexperienced drivers. Keep your tricks up your sleeve until you are on the track with somebody that knows more than you do 😅
@nighttrain1565
@nighttrain1565 Год назад
So if I understand correctly, your biggest struggle is the imposter syndrome? ...let me help you with that lol. I have raised for 15 years and have won multiple championships and did so because I was privileged. I started asphalt racing when I was 6 years old.. The only way kids these days have the same opportunity I did when I was a child is simulation racing. Tomorrow's greatest drivers are sim racers right now. It's not your fault that You didn't grow up around people who could afford to give you an opportunity to accomplish your dreams.. Nobody in the sport has paid their way.. every single driver in racing takes a team of lives dedicated to the mission. It's a sport of love and passion and people dedicate their lives to help you achieve your dream. It's difficult not to feel incredibly guilty. Getting into racing isn't necessarily earning your way by skill but rather finding a seat.. those seats often go to those with the most money or the most heart. It never goes to the best driver or the most deserving because they aren't around. The best advice I can give you is to try to get into as many different forms of racing as you can. Race as much as you can as often as you can whenever somebody lets you. Establishment people in the sport will recognize this and You might get yourself another opportunity. -My personal big is struggling racing is driving the car holding my head up and resting my head. It's like an entirely different ball game driving a car with your head resting. Knowing when to rest your head and your neck so that you can use it later is always my biggest challenge😂 I am always holding on to tight for too long lol
