Heads up. Postpartum depression can hit anytime over the first year. Baby blues are more common and usually hit in the first few weeks/months after deliver and I’ve had a case of baby blues after all my kiddos. Not everyone does, but a lot of women do. You just kind of get into a funk is the best way I can describe it. Just keep an eye out for the early signs so you can address it kinda quick. You sound like you’re doing everything right and your momma instincts are on point!

April Fellers same here! Madison just keep your eyes open for the signs, you’ll know when your just not feeling yourself.. I had to make meds with both my boys afterwards. It’s normal, our bodies have been through ALOT LOL! Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl, and hope you feel better soon😊

Angie Smith I also had to go on meds after one of my baby’s. It was #4. ( ironically I was too ashamed to say it in my initial comment)I was struggling prior to the pregnancy with some depression and it carried over into the pregnancy and I didn’t realize I was so down, the pediatrician had me fill out a form at my sons first little check up and I basically failed it. It was just about 10 questions or so asking about my happiness/sadness, if I was laughing/crying just a simple questionnaire, I remember crying while filling out the form. Hormones and emotions were all over the place. I’m so thankful we caught it early because I only continued to struggle I failed that same questionnaire when we went to the next check up as well. I was so embarrassed. There is such a stigma attached to mental health and depression/anxiety. As women as moms we are nurturers and caretakers and we pride ourselves in that role. It’s very hard to ask for help and even harder to admit when we are struggling. Pregnancy/labor/delivery may very well be a “natural” process that as women we are built for, but it completely wrecks our bodies and hormones. Our bodies work so hard behind the scenes doing things that we don’t even understand and probably couldn’t even comprehend in an effort to sustain this life inside us. We are warriors and sadly we don’t give ourselves enough credit. We are so hard on ourselves and have a lot of pressure to be “perfect” and to always be “happy”! I would just say to pay attention to your body and listen to your body. If you’re tired then rest. If you’re hungry, eat. If you’re sad or emotional allow yourself to be those things without feeling like you’re a failure and if you’re having prolonged sadness and your emotions are all over the place for a lengthy amount of time don’t be ashamed to talk to your doctor and don’t put off talking to your doctor. A healthy happy momma raises healthy happy babies!

I was very lucky. I had 4 boys, youngest is now 23 and I didn't get PPD. With some women it can become devastating but I believe Madison has such a busy and fulfilled life that she will be just fine. Just stay happy and enjoy that baby girl ❤

Hey there! One big tip a friend of mine gave it to me when I was delivering my babies! Put ice down there, if you do it right after the delivery it helps a lot with the swollen and the pain. I’ve done that all 3 times I delivered two days after delivery I wasn’t feeling any pain down there. It really helps, but if u do it now it might help. Ask your doctor. I usually put it in doctor glove. She is adorable! Your life starts now bc there’s nothing better than a baby in the house!!! Best of luck!!!!! You look great! Xo

I think it's kinda crazy they didnt check you when you first had that pressure! That's the one thing I was always told to make sure to tell asap and they would check me because that's a big indicator they are crowning. That being said, shes so stinking cute and I cant wait to keep seeing her sweet little face!

Really happy you discussed tongue ties. I had a HORRIBLE time nursing and could not get my baby to latch, was in so much pain etc and was told she was fine. After a few lactation consultants and a nipple shield, we figured out she was tied. We did the laser procedure but unfortunately she still never nursed well. It was such a hard experience and I wish more doctors, nurses etc would educate themselves on ties. I wish we would have addressed it immediately, but we were told she didn’t have any ties originally. We were able to nurse for several months but I wish it could have lasted longer. Congrats on your beautiful baby!

My 1st born was sunny side up. I had back pain for several months after he was born. Even though the doctor turned him to the right position. Your back pain is possibly coming from that instead of the epidural. She is precious💗🎀

Congryialtions maddie! I also had my daughter this year in April. She was born 1 month early with jaundice and had to have her in phototherapy. We had to stay overnight after I got discharged. She lost a lot of weight too. So I had many sleepless night in the beginning of my journey. But she is 6 months old now and a very happy healthy baby. I fall in love with her more and more every day.

I had 2 very fast deliveries. My first daughter was born within 20 minutes of being at the hospital, and pushing twice and my second daughter this july was born in the front seat of our SUV on a busy street at a red light, the light turned green and we drove the 1 block to the hospital with our little bean on my chest wrapped in her daddy's t-shirt lol. Your birth story is great, glad you had an uncomplicated birth! Congrats she is beautiful!

Our labor and delivery sounds almost the same! Once my water broke and I got my epidural I had my son in no time, pushed for 45 minutes and he was also 6 lbs and I was just one day away from my due date. I also had to use a nipple shield because my son was tongue tied! Babies are such a blessing ❤❤

Congrats on the beautiful baby girl! I ended up getting an epidural as well because my daughter was flipped. We didn’t know she was sunny side up until I delivered her face up! Labor is no joke! Great job & keep us the breastfeeding! It’s such a wonderful bonding experience. There is nothing like it! My daughter was lip & tongue tied as well. The physical therapy for the procedure is the worst. 😥 I had to use my nipple shields the first 6 weeks, but as soon as Emmy had her oral corrections, THE NEXT DAY, I was able to nurse without the shields! It was such a blessing! Hang in there mama! Congrats! ❤️

Your birth story reminds me so much of my first son. I was induced at 37 weeks due to low amino fluid. I got Pitocin at 11:30am Dec. 31 & had my son at 3:30pm that afternoon. It went super FAST. I only pushed 5 times & he was out. He weighed 6lbs 15oz & was 19in long. Congrats on your beautiful baby girl. She is so perfect! Welcome to motherhood beautiful! The “thud” part had me laughing because I was literally there. I went to the ER because he hadn’t moved all day, they told me I was fine and would be discharged and as I’m getting ready I hear a loud thud and I look at my mom and say “Did you hear something pop?” and then the water starts gushing out like seconds later 😂😂😂 I had eaten a really spicy meal a couple of nights before too Lol

post partum depression won't start right away usually. keep watching for a couple months, i think it's up until about a year it can hit. my daughter didn't get it right away then she got it about 2.5 months in and had it for about 1.5 years. you're probably going through baby blues right now. it's ok to have depression just communicate anything with your doctor!

She is beautiful. Officially welcome to the mommy club. With my 1st, ended up emergency c section, pushed for an hour and got infection from Water being broken too long. ( induced and he was 8.7. 2nd was a successful VBAC( my only daughter) born 6.15 and my 3rd, c section too, 8.11. Thank goodness my boys were c sections and daughter was tiny and I thought she would be big. Lol. also what helped me was my night nurse when In labor with my daughter ( vlogged it) and entire 3rd pregnancy. She said wait to try pushing until the pressure is unbearable. And The nurses couldn’t believe how fast I got her out, less then 15 min and 3 pushes. Congrats again mama 💗

They were telling me the same with my first and it didn’t happen. Postpartum depression can hit you anytime a year PP... so make sure your husband keeps an eye out for it. I didn’t know I had it with my first until 6 months into it. You did the right thing by clipping her tie. Glad you were aware of it, so many are not. Congrats!!

We have similar birth stories, my baby girl came out so easily and I was not in labor for long at all. If my doctor wasn’t in a surgery I could’ve had her without an epidural but I had to wait for my doctor and couldn’t take the pain for that much longer. I’m so scared to try for another one since I had it so easy the first time lol. Congrats on your lil bundle of joy. 💕

Postpartum can happen anytime during the 1st year. It’s usually between 1-4 months. Hopefully, it won’t effect you! Isn’t it funny & weird how everyone’s birth story is different. None of my epidurals hurt. They were a little uncomfortable & with my 2nd child, the anesthesiologist “missed” & tried 3 separate times to no avail & my baby weighed 10 lbs 2 ozs. I really needed that epidural lol I can’t believe they didn’t check you when you had the pressure for 4 hours but like you said, maybe that’s why you didn’t have to push for too long. Just rem, they say your next baby will come even quicker 😉 And that held true with my kids & most ppl I know. Didn’t you feel like SuperWoman after you had her? Childbirth is such a wonderful, amazing thing. I wanted to tell my story to everyone who would listen! 🤣 I’m so happy for you! She’s gorgeous, just like her mommy & daddy! ~Tammy

Girl, I'm jealous. My 1st labor was 48 HOURS and had to have an episiotomy to get him out. Luckily I only pushed for 15 min and he came out perfect color, perfect shaped head. I was shocked he didn't have a cone head. He was 9 lbs 0 oz 19 1/2 inches long. Oh and I was already 2 weeks over due and not dialated at all and they had to break my water at 4 cm and give me pitiocin and put medicine in my cervix to soften it to even start my labor. And that fits his personality...he can't be rushed...does everything on his own time even 15 years later lol. My 2nd labor was 16 hours and I started out at 2 cm and had to use pitiocin because I had been dialated for 2 weeks. With him I tested positive for the Strep and had to have the antibiotics. This labor was so much easier. So happy for you. She's so beautiful! ❤️👶🍼

She's beautiful! :) Congratulations! The one thing that put me into labor was Taco Bell lol I pushed her out within 45 minutes and did not have an epidural. I tore as well and just wait until your stitches start to heal and then they will itch like crazy!! Also, when you're breastfeeding, you will feel your uterus go back to normal and sometimes it can hurt. My baby always had the hiccups too. So what I did, was keep her upright for a while and burp her some more then gave her a pacifier to suck on and that seemed to help. They grow so fast so cherish every moment you have with her!

My first pregnancy was 8 years ago. He was a week late, and they had to induce me with pitossun (sp?) And the contractions were hard and quick after the pitossun broke my water. My labor progressed very quickly. Within 6-8 hours after the pitossun broke my water, we had a baby! Just goes to show you can't always go by statistics. And that was my first baby. He was almost 10 pounds!!!! I had 3rd degree tearing. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with a baby girl! She is due Jan 3, but my husband thinks we will have a December baby! We shall see!! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

Congrats Maddy!!! I had my baby just 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was induced bcoz I was 3cm dilated when I went for my check up. I’m a first time mom too & the nurses said the same thing that I’ll be in labour for more than 10hours but gosh! I was lucky n delivered within couple of hours without epidural! Yay me 😁

My son was jaundiced when he was born, and because I had an extremely hard delivery, my son was breech and I had Accreta and bled out when he was born they kept us for a little over a week ..but I was told when I did bring him home to put him in the sunniest window while he was sleeping and it would resolve quicker ! So just an idea for you. Hope this helped 💞

I think people handle pain differently. Me and you seem to handle it the same way. We don’t scream or freak out. For me, I just went into this weird space in my head. Everyone around my essentially disappeared. I was just trying to deal, haha. But I also had a pretty easy delivery. I did get an epidural despite my OB warning me nobody would do it for me because I have a fused spine. But the lady working at the hospital that night said she’d take the chance. It didn’t really work, haha. I was so upset about it. But when the pressure/pain came, I just went into that weird place in my head and I pushed her out within minutes. The nice thing though was they because the epidural didn’t work, they allowed me to walk immediately after birth. I really liked that because I could go to the bathroom on my own versus a nurse cleaning me up and keeping the catheter in. Your daughter is adorable btw. ❤️ If you still notice issues with hiccups or any sort of reflux or tummy issues, try the Gerber Soothe drops. It’s a probiotic I believe. But those were miracle drops for us!
