Also two men with the surname Valentin (including the monk) were executed during these festivities, so for the sake of martyrdom and maybe some cruel irony, the people started naming this holiday after these men named Valentin, which then evolved to Valentine's day

They are not Russian, they are Ukrainian. But I’m pretty sure Ukraine only made domestic abuse illegal a little over a year ago so it would make sense that this kind of mentality is show cased in their videos because as a country domestic abuse is not thought of in the same way as places like Canada or the US.
Google The Prelinger Archives. It’s filled with old publicly funded how to videos from the 20’s-60’s. Topics like how to ask a girl on a date, table manners, how to run a smooth household, etc. It’s really interesting to see how the government pressured its society to act a way they deemed “socially acceptable”. Reminded me of these troom troom videos
