So far so good. I really like it. I was expecting better Quality from Toyota tho. they cheaped out on some areas. Cons so far The Michelin pilot summer tires are super noisy. I'm pretty dissapointed with Michelin there cause I've had lots of summer tires and also max performance ( 200tw) and these tires are noisy easy fix tho. But im super dissapointed on the paint. It's scratches super easy. When I was loading it on the uhaul for transport I lightly scratched the lower lip. Barely touched it wit a block of wood. It's barely noticeable but yea. The paint not the best Quality. I will PPF the whole car now. I'm like you. I am never selling it. So that's why imma do a complete PPF. I own lots of sportscars. Evo8,Evo9, nissan s13, ap2 honda s2000, 95 FD Rx7 and now my GR86 Trueno. So this car has lots to live up too. Lol Hit me up on.. Instagram: nismojuan101 ( Currently I haven't uploaded pictures there.( but il send you Pics from the day i got it) also, Due to I am saving the moment to introduce the car to my family and friends on my 🎂 bday. That's another reason I bought the GR86 Trueno. Lol)
Thank you! Great choice by the way. Originally my color of choice was what you have. They made some cool colors for the GR’s. The Brembo’s are a night and day difference! You’ll appreciate them so much 😃
CONGRATS BROTHER! I ORDERED MINE AROUND NOVEMBER AND HAD TO WAIT FOR IT TO SHIP FROM JAPAN. GOT IT IN MARCH. I BELIEVE I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF THE TRUENO EDITION. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CAR AND PLAN ON OWNING IT FOR LIFE AS WELL. I GOT MINE WITH THE GR PERFORMANCE EXHAUST AND 10 INCH SUBWOOFER. THE EXHAUST MAKES IT THAT MUCH MORE FUN TO DRIVE. I GOT A COLD START VIDEO ON MY CHANNEL. MANUAL IS A MUST! TAKUMI SENT ME. NAMASTE 🙏🏽 FROM BROOKLYN.
Thank you 🙏🏽 Congratulations to you as well! I feel the same way, its been a true pleasure to own and drive this Trueno. Toyota definitely focused on the joy of driving with this GR. I thought about the sub too, but I guess I could always add it later. I was wondering how that exhaust sounds, I’m going to check it out! I didn’t realize some came with it and others didn’t. Now I want one 😅 Shout out to Takumi 😎 Thanks for sharing! Shout out from the opposite end of the coast 🏝️ 🤙🏽
Reserved 8/2023, received last Wednesday, white premium trim. Having full ppf done and still in the shop. Some people might think that's nutz to spend another $4,750 (after tax), but live in NE Ohio and plan to keep for a while.
Congratulations! 🎉 How do you like it so far? I do plan on doing the same thing. PPF prices out here are a little higher, between $5-6.5k range. I agree with you, it’s worth protecting your investment especially if you wish to keep it forever. I don’t know if you’re posting pics or videos anywhere but I’d like to see the end result!
@shift__robinson The short drive I've had it was way more fun than the 2015 FRS I also have, and hard to keep under the 4K break-in redline. Will post pics and report back...
@@shift__robinson New dedicated set of winter wheels and tires, so the FRS becomes the winter car! And my 16 year old nephew can drive it and learn stick when he's in town for the summer! (Also have a 2008 Pontiac G8 Gt in the garage...so that's 3x rear wheel drive cars in NE Ohio 😄)
Sweet. Sounds like the collection to have! I have an 07 350z that I setup for time attack a few years ago. A 1995 S14 240x that’s a garage queen currently. And daily a 2008 SER Spec V. I feel the struggle. I’m also running out of space 😅
@@shift__robinson I have the 2022 gr86 premium manual transmission. I got it in pavement grey. I love the car. Love the way it handles. At times the suspension on that particular trim can be harsh, but on better quality asphalt it hugs the road quite nicely. As for the brakes.. they’re not the best. I find myself having to use the transmission to slow the car down more often than not (that’s proper technique so it’s not that big of a deal) which is why I’m considering taking my car to the dealer to get the trueno package installed on the car. Warning: I did make the irresponsible mistake of turning off the traction control in the rain and lost control. I applied too much throttle causing the back to slide out. I had to counter stir repeatedly with my foot off the throttle to regain control… terrifying experience. Over all I love this car and if I had to do it all over again. I’d pick the gr86 every single time.
Sounds like you chose the perfect car to have! I’m glad that you’re driving and enjoying it as it was intended. I definitely heard that the brakes under spirited and track driving need to be upgraded, pads and fluid really. I haven’t driven a premium or base GR86, but I’ve never owned a car that came stock with Brembo’s of this size. Its impressive, the responsiveness and bite are night and day difference. I’ll see how handles the track setting in the future. I feel you’ll appreciate the upgrades 👍🏽
I'm hoping to get a GR86 around this time, next year. I hear that Longo is an MSRP dealer. Did you have to pay any markups? The owner of the Fujiwara Tofu Cafe down the road from Longo takes his AE86 to their events.
@@shift__robinson it’s pretty good. The drinks are soy milk based so it takes a little getting used to if you’re not used to it. The fried tofu is pretty delicious. Well, it looks like I’ll be going to Longo, then.
Loving my Trueno so far, just over 1k miles on it. Congrats. One thing I did notice is that my exhaust has different tips than yours. Mine has blackish tips with GR badging on them. Am I just not seeing them correctly on your car?
I also reached 1k last week. Thank you, and same to you! I've noticed that in a Facebook group I'm in that some Trueno's came with the GR exhaust tips. I didn't know that was a thing 0_o Mine doesn't have it at all which makes me think its an option?
@@randomusernamecl Sounds about right. I know the 2023 Special Edition came with the upgraded cat-back exhaust with the black muffler. I might entertain the idea in the future :) I'm guessing yours has a noticeable rumble?
Haha I like that. I honestly was thinking that, I would like to preserve it as oem as possible. I think it drives amazing. I do plan to compete in 86cup but any mods would be track oriented (pads, fluids, oil cooler, etc). I got it at msrp 😃
@@shift__robinson dealership told me today that ALL OF THEM are held up waiting on the pin stripping. 😂 i was like, lady, i got some RU-vid videos for yall My current date is may 7th We’ll see
Originally I put a deposit down in January of 2022, but that was for a Premium in manual. I changed my order later that fall to the '23 Special Edition. All of 2023 passed until December, when the dealership contacted me about this Trueno Edition coming from Japan. Once I agreed to that, it arrived this passed April.
I wouldn’t blame you lol Honestly, they are essentially the same car. Very small differences in between the two but if you’re set on one, get the BRZ 😃
@shift__robinson Maybe I was a little harsh the white and black is a better choice than orange but those side stripes aren't for me I thought about buying 1 too but If I do it's gonna be all black...Toyotas black has always been beautiful remember that black Marty mcfly Tacoma?
@@dougjunior1961 Its all good, you didn't hurt my feelings :) Funny you mentioned it, I did want the '23 in orange. Its REALLY bold, and I'm happier with this Trueno. Oh yes, the classic 4x4 Tacoma in black 😃I think these GR's have a metallic flake in the black. My side mirrors and duck bill have it.
I personally never in my life would have bought a white car and put black stripes on it. I bought it for the history though, not the look. I will say though, pictures don’t do it justice and it looks pretty sick in person.
@@maddox_southard This is my 3rd white car… un planned. It does look great in person, especially with pearlescent shimmer under the sun. I feel the same when it comes to the history. I never owned an AE86, but always wanted to. I they did well with this one 🏎️💨
