Outstanding kit and realistic! Nice size and better suited for quick getaway. The only thing you may like to add is maybe three breakdown arrows to go with your sling bow. I know you can make your own but having a few ready made can be a blessing when your hungry.

So you have a massive knife sharpener, a pair of scissors which should be on your multi tool, a pace counter, a separate pack with a huge metal canteen, and stove kit but you skimp and save 1lb on a ultralight med kit....

I live in Houston and my B.O.B has gotten me through this flood. Any one who tells you that you don't need one they are full of shit. I've seen ppl suffer for not being prepared. Ppl who teased me for having one are wishing they have one.

The black bag is the same model that we use in Italian Army (but camo). The strips you unlock at the beginning are used to hold our helmet.

FINALLY somebody shows a slingshot in a bug out bag. I love mine and my response to people that put me down for it is. Look it's light, compact, quiet and deadly if used right and hey stupid when are you going to run out of rocks lol don't need to go buy them like you do ammo. Great video thanks for sharing.

Apprentice of gilligan No problem. If I can keep a vehicle... ammo and a rifle for sure. But in most really bad situations.. if you are in Alaska and make your own ammo. It isn't super realistic

I think the shovel is a great item to have. It is very light and can be used to do plenty of things, like a sunken fire pit, trenching for a long fire, and foraging for roots. Great item!

Just add a poncho, 2 heavy trash bags, orange trail tape, write in the rain pencil & paper, power bank or solar charger, insect repellent, caffeine tablets, small 200 gram binoculars, maps, electrical tape, 2 small candles and a much better sleeping bag. And you are good to go! :)

Oh my gosh...finally, someone that says on a go bag video one of the most important thing about weight. Everyone usually acts like they need everything. What you said was correct, they usually spout the typical “I would rather have it and not need it.....”. Well, these guys need to actually gear up and take a good long hike and overnight them. As soon as I did thar, I not only dumped 1/3 of the gear I had, I changed half of the items that were left, and even changed packs. Weight is an absolute killer. So much so that I would now rather take the risk of not having certain items as opposed to guaranteeing failure because I have WAY too much stuff for those “just in case” moments. Good job on taking note of that important issue. With that said dont forget the second most important factor...that is also forgotten most of the time. Clothing. Clothing is by far the most important factor. It is your first line of defense for your microclimate in shelter. Your clothing, layers, is your initial shelter. So good socks, quality footwear, hats (cold and hot weather for both cold and sun protection), rain gear to keep you dry etc etx. Clothing is a critical part of your emergency preparedness

I think your pack is great but there's just a short list of things that I would recommend based on my experience in the Australian military. 1. Extra zip-lock bags (they break easily) they're light and very compact so it shouldn't affect much. 2. Camouflage reflective surfaces and colours that do not fit in your surroundings. If you were bugging out with the intention of not drawing attention, you shouldn't have fluorescent and reflective surfaces. They can be sprayed or taped over most of the time. 3. Use canvas waterproofing spray on moisture vulnerable items prior to trip. I remember one time that I bought suede shoes, the store attendant asked me if I would like to buy waterproofing spray and I realised how much use it would have for other things as a preventive measure before spending weeks or months on an exercise where there was a high chance of tropical rain. 4. A few clothes pegs. You could use these to dry things out, prevent mould and potentially for some other purposes. 5. Have lid straps on your bottles. You don't want to lose those lids. 6. Just be mindful of all those metallic items. It creates a lot of noise when they're moving around in your bag. There's only so much you can do about that obviously.

Overall I think I could come out lighter and have it include some real food and a gun and a few other extras. Take out the multi tool, the batteries, the compass, the slingshot, reduce the cord (make half a lighter cord), ditch the fishing reels and at least half the fire starting stuff and ditch the two boxes and the bags for the sleeping bag and tent. Get rid of the pitchfork, get a smaller sharpening tool, ditch the Purell and scissors. Take a Kel-Tec PMR-30 (.22 magnum 30 shot pistol) with 3 magazines is only 2 pounds and a pound for each extra 100 rounds. It is great for small game and not horrible for self defense. Food wise you can have 5 of each... granola bars, instant oatmeal, beef jerky, tuna and crackers, cup of noodles, instant oatmeal, tea bags, and drink mixes for 2.2 pounds. That is 5 days of much better tasting food instead of 1.8 pounds pills. A disposable dollar store poncho, water tablets, a filter straw, salt and pepper packets, a knit cap, extra pair of socks and underwear, a bandana or two, and a green scrubbing pad (for cleaning). And since you have a good small knife I would probably take a good hatchet instead of the big knife. It is much better for chopping and splitting wood and the back side is a good hammer for driving in stakes and it makes a better weapon. Add a cheap tiny compass and maybe some fireproof matches and a stick of fatwood. Add more toilet paper, baby wipes, 3 feet of duct tape, a few needle, and some dental floss, and chapstick.

I dont deal with firearms... as everyone and I mean has a dang opinion about it.. lol Its a bag of BS for videos I wont dive into.. If that kit and style works for you. Great. Use what works for you as an individual who fields tests and runs regular bug out drills with there family.

Sorry this isn't a rant or anything... I was bored and I type really fast.. :D I understand that, but your kit does not include arrows and hand made ones are not going to be much better than shot... so get a normal slingshot... or have the second set of tubing a normal set with a basket so you can use shot, marbles, stones... and they work great for small game and to drive away a wild dog or koyot . But there were other main issues I had. One was the food. These pills are not much lighter than taking real food that you taste buds and digestive system will likely you for. Some can be eaten straight up and some need hot water. Though you include some water, you do not include some water tablets or a water filter or distillery setup to get more water and you will need that in most survival situation. Simple clothing like a waterproof poncho, some bandanas, a pair of socks and a pair of underwear and maybe a knit cap. All light and easy to pack and will make life much better as you can wash and let dry one pair and wear the other. Bandanas have all sorts of uses from filtering particles out of water, to slings, to head wraps, to face masks, to storage. Sewing needles and dental floss (strong waterproof and good for other things) for fixing cloths and making things. Maybe a few feet of duct tape for patching things. Soap, baby wipes, more toilet paper. Ibuprofen minimum, maybe benadryl and chewable pepto and diarrhea pills. Your body might not like the food and environment and being sick could drastically reduce your chances of survival. You included a lot of wasted weight. While some was for quality and durability, I found it overkill and much better uses for the space. The reels for fishing are not really needed for shorter term survival and if you need longer term you likely could have found or made something. The compass, the massive amount of fire starters, the batteries for the flashlight, the large sharpener, the storage boxes, the bags for the tend and sleeping bag. LED flashlights last for a while and you do not need one most of the time. Some things I just don't see being used much if ever and the weight and size made it very questionable, like the multi tool, the counter, the little survival kit with the mirror. The paracord is nice but 100 feet of the heavy stuff? Get 100 feet of lighter stuff that is 1/4 the size and only 25 feet of the heavy stuff. The scissor... nice, but not needed. The Purell. Thinner glose would be fine. Really you just want something to protect your hands while chopping and wood and building a shelter. The big knife was redundant while a hatchet would be MUCH more useful. I'm not saying your pack is bad, I'm just thinking that the changes I recommend would make things more comfortable and help you in a wider range of situations. With more things to stretch out the supplies and stuff so surviving a week might turn into a month without too much pain. If you really want long term then include some (non GMO) seed packs, a small solar panel for recharging the flashlight (and use rechargeables in it), more snares, and a lot of salt. Maybe instruction on tanning, smoking/drying meat, edible plants, how to dry and store food, and how to distill water, make better shelters, make twine and rope, basic farming.... maybe even important things to scavenge for why. A Small edition to the pack, but could help you set up a cabin with some land to farm, water, and fishing and survive indefinitely.

You should get a water purifier with a ceramic filter. plenty of water easy and you can just wash it out when its dirty and get some more out of it.

If you stand your stove/cup/bottle in the center of a regular bandana pull the corners up and it will make it alot easier to remove the components from the bottle bag

Pretty good little presentation and kit ! The only thing I see right now that I would swap out in your kit is 3 microfiber hand cloths for the toilet paper and perhaps the "wallmart " variety of $1 headlights that I pack with a crank flashlight. I bought 40 ea. 2032 button batteries for $12 I think and that gives me weeks of hands free lighting if needed. The wife carries a similar pack as I do and an AR/9 as well as a Taurus PT111 G2 and I carry an AR15 in 5.56 as well as a .22lr conversion kit with appropriate ammo and magazines. Of course this is my "bug OUT" kit and my primary objective is to bug IN if possible wherein I have a well, generator, stores of ammunition, shelter, etc. in place.

to outfit your BOB, start with the "rule of 3". you can live: 3 minutes with OUT air 3 hours with OUT shelter 3 days with OUT water 3 weeks with OUT food. then always remember 2 is 1 & 1 is none. redundancy on certain items is worth the weight and/or bulk. methods to make fire and purify water are good examples. don't just rely on that ciggy lighter for fire, cause they are easily lost AND their fuel is both finite and could accidentally leak out. having a terrible rod as a back up is gold. unfortunately, if you are in a city, you might need other items. like that water key that you were smart enough to procure already. you might need bolt cutters to cut through fences or padlocks, mini crowbar for prying or as a breaching tool. lots of things that you may need in a city that you don't need in the woods, all which take up valuable space in your BOB, and add weight to your back. there are lots of video's out there to help you with ideas. watch as many as you can. compare them to each other to formulate a BOB and strategy that fits YOUR needs. and never be afraid to ask questions. :)

Work out what's most important and buy it one by one. You can ask for things for birthdays and save up your allowance to get them. I'd start with a decent EDC setup before building bags. The delica is great. I'd pick up a multitool and a light at minimum, assuming you already have a smartphone

Awesome setup. I would add a mini or telescopic fishing pole, but I cannot find one that is sturdy enough. I would also add a take down 22lr rifle or at least a pistol and extra rounds. Thanks for sharing and spending so much time on this.

I wont lie.... I am a big boy... I can still go can a health 3-8 mile hike.... but ... with high stress and a pack... that could end up being more like a 1-4 mile hick which is considerably lower which is why my wife is creating her fitness series and we will be working more on fitness in our preps

Straps on these bags are going to get uncomfortable quick. I have done 5,500 miles of long distance hiking in the past three years, and you need better webbing if you expect to do more than 10 miles a day.

I really like that you don't have everything but the kitchen sink in here and you keep it a manageable size. The only thing I disagree with you on is the medical kit. I took my first first aid course when I was 13 years old and I have to say it's the best thing I ever did. I've had to use the knowledge I learned in that class more times than I can count, and let me tell you the hardest times I've had trying to preform first aid were when I didn't have access to my personal kit and I had to use a barebones kit like that one you have in there. A medical kit is the one thing I will never compromise on because the difference is so big and when it comes to something that is life or death, you don't want to be minimalist. I get made fun of by friends and family all the time for lugging around a huge med kit, but the ones who have been around when I've had to use it shut right up. I feel like I'm almost part of your family through these videos because we get such a close and personal glimpse into your life, so I beg you to upgrade your medical kit and start EDCing one as well for your beautiful family's sake. It would break my heart to see anything happen to any of you.

I found the water bag that comes with the sawyer to be poorly made and not durable. I used smart water bottles and platypus bladders. The platypus bladder is much better than the bladder that comes with the sawyer.

wife and i have 20+ years hiking camping etc . we figure our backpacks can also be used as BOB . never had use for a " RAMBO " knife . never had a reason to baton split chop wood . just carry a folding saw , simple 6-8 in fix blade knife , 4-6 in folding knife . we carry wet wipes washing hands body and backside . food have oatmeal home made mres for example rice dehydrated veggies pre measured packet of chicken/tuna in zip lock bags etc protein bars etc cook stove , we like using fuel tabs or sticks of wood . carry extra for fire starter . also have head lamp vaseline multi use chap lips burns fire starter baby powder keep areas dry nail clippers tweezers 2-3 topo maps for areas we may be in . little radio playing cards . we both carry a sidearm . about 4 years ago we were glad we had our pistols 2 man took interest in my wife change their attitude . our bags are set up for 7 days yes alittle heavy . packs are big have to think about cold weather gear

Interesting , 11:42 never had use for a pace counter, other than figuring out where I hid my Cache. wouldn't your pace beads be used , instead of the pace counter ?? Another great video sir. You have a very well thought out and comprehensive set up. Being from Ft Worth you know that I know how bad mosquitoes are in Texas. I would have to add bug spray and/or mosquito netting. I know it's kind of a comfort thing but I wouldn't sleep otherwise. Another invaluable tool that I don't see a lot of urban preppers carry is a silcock tool. I have one in all of my kits. The sling bow is a very smart addition IMHO. I have the Pathfinder School edition. But where are your take down arrows? They pack down very small and light weight. Again...A really good kit. You gave me a couple of things that I need to rethink. Thanks for the info.

Tip: To get a fire going i use a sharpener to sharpen a stick and use the left over scraps to get the fire going! It tajes up less space and can be used multiple times!!!

Nice video, but you seriously thought those folding scissors are new? My grandma had those like 40 years ago. That mechanical counter makes a lot more sense to me than Ranger pace beads. When I am walking I am thinking that last thing i want to do is try and count my steps. Sorry, but not sure what the kevlar line and guitar picks have to do with fire kit?

Hi, I like your setup it's light and seems practical but I would go with another backpack, I had the same and it failed on me after just 6 Month of use. I don't say it's bad especially for that kind of money but on the long therm and a bit more you can get something more reliable.

Oh yeah... This is a bare bone.. "advanced" rig.. lol But yes we can easily add a few good items to it... Find good shade.. and sleep during the day while hydrated and covered... then be more active in the evening... most disagree with me ... but when it gets 107 or more outside.... ill do it my way in the summer.

If guys are worried their pace isn't exactly 1m they can measure it out by checking strides over 10m. Just depends on how accurate you want to be. I like the pace counter and not just the ranger beads "54 55 56, what's that noise, okay it's nothing 67? 57? 47? F*@$ !!!"
