I might be mistaken, but I vaguely recall that after LR Time's analysis that the crank snap is a result of repeated oil starvation at start up due to the wrong grade of oil being used for the climate. LR Time's recommendation differs from the manual if I remember correctly.

Since my cancer took a downturn ive been in an out of hospital for treatment. As you boys can imagine it gets me down but just want to say, watching your videos and listening to your podcasts i find myself smiling and laughing. I sold my D4 because it just seemed like there was an endless stream of preventative (and reactive) maintenance to worry about. I replaced it with a Lexus RX and to be fair, I have had to top up the screen wash. 10 year warranty certainly gives peace of mind. Obviously it’s not going off road, but that’s what the new Land Cruiser will be for. I feel your pain.

I change the oil on my D4 SDV6 every 6 months, but the car is on 147,000m miles and hasn't really had an issue except regular maintenance. If you buy a good one to begin with I think your problems will be limited the same as any other brand.

Crazy how easy it was to remove the plastic cover for the head unit. Some poor sod glued the shit out of the plastic latches and vents on my R32 - they all went flying when I replaced the unit...

I'm in love with discovery 3's and 4's and when I needed to get a big 4 wheel drive I was so close to getting one. The only reason I stopped myself was because of the reliability. I ended up with a 2021 ssangyong rexton and am real happy but I'm still in love with the discovery

There are 2 ways to look at that, the rex will be a pig in a poke for residual and if you need bits you are going to the stealer. So you either do that or get a landrover and feed it parts and labour, either way it's big money.

I had a Disco 3 (LR3 in the US) and it was my favorite car but cost me a fortune to keep on the road. I sold it for basically nothing and I regret it all the time. They are the best trucks.

You shoulda got a CR-V such underrated cars! You could get one with a k series and turn it into a turbo rocket ship sleeper Or go for the one with the n22 diesel lump in it I-cdti which will remap to 193bhp with 440nm easily stage 1 could do loads to then return good mpg too.

I have owned 3 Disco 3, travelled overland across Africa in one. IMHO its the most versatile vehicle ever made, a van, a 4x4 a 7 seater, and suspension only equalled by an S class for comfort and never left me stranded. All of this has been demonstrated by big Pete here on this great channel. It's always a love hate relationship but isn't it always with family! Big Pete is part of this channels family..

Bought a 42k mile 15 plate 4.4 Range Rover 1 owner full history, Have had it 3 years and got maintaince and repair invoices of plus £16,000 in 3 years. It’s just gone in for another fault on the air suspension. The little £1200 and £2900 invoices soon add up. I absolutely love the car but it does grind on you after a while your allways knowing something is going to pop up. Got a few other cars and never get that feeling and they cost F all to run and repair 😂

Exactly the same happened to my I bought a 2006 D3 for £7,000 about 5 years ago owned it for 3 years and spent over £6800 on keeping it mobile, much of that cost was the TC like yours was This was the worst car for owning but the best car ever to drive for comfort and chucking stuff in it
