A common chick health problem: "pasty butt" or Pasting up is when a baby chick has a lot of poop stuck to their hind end, potentially blocking the vent and causing death. It should be addressed immediately or the chick may die from blockage. It's easy to fix the problem... just be sure to keep an eye on them daily and fix it daily, if needed.

I mix their chick feed with water to make it more of a mush. Ithink if they were roaming around with a mama hen on grass&eating bugs etc, it probably wouldn't be much of an issue. But making the mush food seems to help a little bit. But it's a common issue that you just need to keep an eye on.

My chick doesn’t have a pasty but anymore, but her little red thing sticks out and she’s constantly scratching her bum with her beak. Now there aren’t any feathers in that area. Any recommendations for this? Thanks

U need to keep the chick in water till it get softer in that way u are doing u can easly peal the skin off

I am not sure, but imagine it could be bad for a budgie too. If they can't expel waste, it can kill a chick!

@@TrueBlueStablesLLC anyway thx u, I couldn't do anything I wasn't able to get her to the vet and I was trying to get her better, she had candidiasis I guess and I couldn't get her treatment
