Kudo's Al for trying to save the Coach Builders Caddy. Can't wait for you to bring it back to life! Want to see it all cleaned up and back on the road!!!
Hey Al, always a treat! Looking forward to following the journey restoring that coach builders! In the end, it will be a beauty, and I can’t wait to see it! Great post!
Well Dang Al... always glad to see new content, but I was hoping the outcome would be your usual good luck since you seem to have the midas touch on these. Fantastic you have a parts vehicle in order to save the beautiful coach builders car.
Niiiice score on that white one, will be very cool the convertible with the floor shifter imo and that interior looks mint, and probably you could get almost all your money back on that white one just be selling the leftover cats
@@bigalsbikeandauto I like your approach of buying a parts Cadillac to fix another Cadillac.....I feel like I just saw another RU-vidr doing the same thing 🤔
i bought a 07 lincoln town car it was wrecked luckily with the town car the fender is all one piece fender and support i wished Cadillac would of done that as well. thats a nice dts but if you have the time when you take the engine out put the locked engine in the wrecked one and call lkq and see what much they'll buy it for lol get your money back but cant wait for the next video on this coach builders dts
I thought I saw the crank turn a smidge at one point when you tried turning the red car’s crank bolt. Good thing you scored that parts car for zilch. Awesome man.
@@bigalsbikeandauto 16:15 after the beginning but before the middle. It was at this final attempt it seemed to smidge. But it could have just been the motor mount or something moving.
That cream DTS was misleading, it looked great from the back and then OUCH. I guess the easiest thing is to just swap cradles with the engine and everything all together. Nice interior on the parts car too and in the right color.
Al, have you ever met anyone else that shares your love for these old Northstars? I totally get it... They are the Boogieman! Everyone is skeart and it creates an amazing buyers market.
There's a lot misinformation and yeah they are maintenance heavy and they don't like neglect but your can say the same about pretty much all high end 20 plus year old complicated luxury cars.
at times working on a cadillac can be difficult but you're right the idiots that scream bloody murder about the starter being under the intake clearly havent done one or are lazy or something. i can name several other things that have been harder to do on my caddys. to be fair the northstar is the easiest cadillac to work on that i've actually had my hands on.
Try filling the engine with di3sel. I mean yoh can always experiment what works best but diesel and water may mix and oil and water don't. Diesel and salt water you can put ina small jar and see how it behaves. I've seen on marine aplications where the engine was submerged in water for a long tjme and they remove water put disel i think - but yoh do this right away. Not half engine now half later. You open engine drain water old oil etc. Then seal it back up and fill it witb diesel. But you have to seal is back up. Polebarn garage did same thing. When got a car filled the wngine with diesel. Car not submerged but old. But if yoh open/drain and let air in even for a day - damage is worst than leaving it for a year with saltwater in but sealed - no air inside. Good luck
Hey you do what you love you don't need to explain nothing take me for instance I bought a Honda Civic to 300 bucks that I took an Acura el which is pretty much a luxury version of the Civic took everything and put it into my Honda Civic leather everything and a better trunk lid
Are you going to go find a front middle seat for the column shifter/bench seating setup on your red coachbuilders DTS? Maybe junkyards have one or an Impala.
Keeping the column shift and putting the center counsel is pretty nice too actually now thinking of it. You get both the old school shifter and counsel. Up to what you prefer 😁
New, or used drivetrain would be best for this car al, no sense in messing with the original drivetrains unless you get them rebuilt. Its only worth it cause its a convertible
Hi Big Al. I wanted to pick your brain. I have a 1983 Cadillac Seville with the 4.1 V8. When I try to start it the dash lights etc come on but the car won’t turn over at all. Thought I would ask you what I should look for in terms of trouble shooting? Cheers Mark
In order of easy things to check first make sure the battery connections are tight and that the battery has 12 volts, second I would check the starter with a multimeter plenty of videos on RU-vid to show you how or just pull the starter from the car and bench test it.
