Greetings from South Florida and your old boss from way back when. One of my students mentioned this video to me and asked if I knew you. Obviously, I said of course, and went into a long story about when you interviewed for SAAB. I hope you remember what your answer was when we asked why you wanted to join the Admissions Advisory Board ... because you wanted to famous like an Anthony Bourdain type. Well, you have clearly done it and I couldn't be more proud of you. My life has been pretty hectic these last few years so I don't get to check in on your exploits as much, but I was happy to do a deep dive this afternoon and see all the amazing things you have accomplished. And most importantly, congratulations on your nuptials. Please send my regards to Michael, Allie, and your whole family. It is an honor to have been a footnote in your rise to stardom. Keep up being true to yourself. Cheers, Admissions_Daniel
Daniel!!!! YOU are the incredible admissions officer who gave me the chance to create the series I dreamt up!!!! Miss you and think about you often!! 😊🙌🏼
You are so lucky to have met great people right when starting college. I met the absolute worst humans ever my freshman year. My roommate and a friend we met ONLY partied. They ditched me because I took school and sleep seriously and didn’t tank my grades immediately like they did. College can bring out the best and the worst in people. I WISH my social college experience was more like yours. ❤️
I’m a high school senior and am so glad you posted this video! I live in the West Coast, and am probably going to stay out here, but this is still helpful!
Baltimore represent! My sister is a sophomore at Hopkins and loves it there! I know it was the best school for you, but was there anywhere you didn't apply that you wish you did? Also I saw that you filmed dad does my voiceover so I am so excited for that! I hope you do the thing where you line up his voice with your mouth movements again because that is such a cool effect.🤞🤞 Have a great weekend!
Hehe the video with my dad is coming next week! It's a little different from last time but I think it'll make you laugh 😂 !!! And in terms of applications... I don't think there was anyone I wish I had applied to! I was really happy with the entire process :)
I’m a senior in the college application process right now and this video was super helpful! Btw I recently discovered that my friend, Becca Fink, is your cousin! How crazy is that?!
Lucie, I absolutely love your informational video! About a year ago, I was a senior in H.S., and I underwent the same struggles throughout the strenuous application process. Overall, a great job. :)
@@angiem7725 I'm in Ontario and I believe how it works is that you first get an account from your school with OUAC (application centre), you pick the programs you apply to, most programs and schools do not have an essay or ask for your extracurriculars (there are a few exceptions), standardized tests are typically only required for international students, and your guidance counsellor automatically sends your grades 11-12 marks. Typically admission is based on 6 of your grade 12 level courses (including the prerequisites, then your highest marks).
It's so crazy but when you visit a school makes ALL the difference. I remember being adamant that I DID NOT want to go a certain school because it was "too small." But when I visited it was a gorgeous spring day and they were having a campus wide scavenger hunt! The campus just looked so fun and inviting! As you can guess, I went to that school. Marist College class of 2013 ❤🦊
I suppose the schools don’t have to honor your request (or if you’re very different students it’s possible they wouldn’t), but we got lucky and every school made the same decision!
can you talk about your experience with tuition/loans (if you had any)? a lot of people can't even apply to the schools you mentioned due to how expensive they are. would be nice to have some insight
I’m at a private college, and I don’t know if this helps, but don’t let cost keep you from applying! Private schools tend to give a lot more financial aid than public universities!
I’m curious why you HAD to say you were applying with a sibling? Was it a requirement or just a personal choice based on your desire to attend together?
You might not see this but I really hope you do. My twin sister and I are also applying to colleges together; how do we let them know that we want the same decisions? Is it through our essays or ...
I think she mentioned in a previous video that she joined a sorority! (I forgot which video though sorry) might've been the Long Distance vid because I remember her talking about how they were both able to grow up while they were apart from each other during college... Hope she makes a vid about it someday!
I have a twin sister as well and we’re both applying to the same colleges however one college sent me an email that I applied twice with slightly different names, I feel like I should mention this on my apps before I apply to my reach schools
I started on the pre-med track with courses leading towards a major in neuroscience. I loved everything about it and found the classes fascinating, I just decided that I didn’t want to be a doctor after all.
How did you two get waitlisted at Duke with a 35 and a 33 ACT score? I’m speechless. I have heard it’s basically up there with Harvard but in North Carolina
Hello! I’m thinking about Emory because of its pre-health opportunities and location. What were your thoughts of the school if/when you visited or heard about anything? Thanks ❤️
Omg loveeee this video! Could you make a video on how you made such strong friendships so quickly, how you maintained those, and just friendship tips in general? ❤️❤️
I just decided that I didn't want to after all 🤷♀️ I couldn't really see myself going through 10+ more years of schooling or having a job indoors in a hospital setting!
Great video. Dartmouth/Stanford here. I love when you said “modern advice.” Since I was in school for most of the 80s, I’d say modern advice escapes me. 🤔. One consideration for some is weather. Make sure you are ok with the weather. I knew 6 people who had to escape NH immediately because it was so freaking cold. 😂 it was great hearing about your admissions experience. Have a wonderful weekend.
