I got my first hiya at a garage sale under a FREE table. Four rooted cuttings in a McDonald's cup. It's my pride and joy!! It will always be my favorite.
Loved this Hoya video! Love your collection. Your Hoya Sunrise is so beautiful. What a treat to see her! I hope to add to my Hoyas …. the Finlaysonii, , the Rangsan, the Globulosa, the Irina and the Eliptica. Meanwhile I’ll enjoy the hunt for one of my own and seeing them in RU-vid videos. 🙂. Many thanks for sharing your beautiful Hoyas with us! 🌸🪴🥰
Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!! 🙏🏼🤗 It’s definitely a beautiful Hoya! Ahh I need to look at all those and see if I need to add them to my list!! 😆 Thank you for watching!! 🥰
Just a comment on re potting. When I first started collecting hoyas, i re potted them into a hanging baskets. I have heard from other collectors and my sad learning , that they do better by remaining in a small pot and pot bound than potting on into a large one. My plants are getting on in age and growing well in their original pot. PH is very important, remember that every plant variety is different for PH needs. Well done Melissa. Regards Cheryle
Another mystery solved. One of my plants has always been a mystery to me as I didn’t know what species of plant it is. Happily there is no more mystery; it is a Hoya Retusa. I was watching this video and when you held up your Retusa I said out loud “So that’s what it is!” and pointed at the screen. My wife asked me who I was talking to which was a bit embarrassing as I didn’t want to admit I was talking to my iPad. BTW my Retusa is beautiful and thriving. Thanks for solving the mystery.
Haha 😂 I think it was one I didn’t know at first either because it wasn’t labeled and it wasn’t until I saw someone else with one I was oh yeah! That looks like mine 😆 glad yours is going well!! I love the look of them! 🤗🥰
Hi ya Melissa, i have krimson princess, it loves warn sunny conditions and a bit more water. I use orchid fertiliser with vit b. Flowers like crazy. My plants are grown outside u deŕ a patio. Your plants look amazing. Kind regards Cheryle
The Krimson Queen is what I call a tri color. I wouldn’t plant the two together, they could be 2 different plants, there are so many different varieties of carnosa. I do wait till mine are dry before watering - but not until the leaves get soft. A lot of them will survive like that, but it really isn’t good long term to let them dry out that much. The leaves getting soft means a Hoya is extremely dry, and if the roots start to die, and then you hit it with water, you are risking root rot. Might not kill the plant right away, but the plants that I’ve let that happen to too many times, I eventually lost.
Your crimson princess is beautiful! I have a small one which i propagated. Still in water and put out a new leaf to my surprise. Love your Hoya collection. So far I have 26 Hoya 😊
The nice thing about the polynura ( and a lot of other hoyas) is that it sometimes will pop out a new shoot from one of the lower nodes! I've only had mine since about October 2021 and without me chopping the one vine I had, it randomly shot out a new one from the base node! At first I was worried that maybe it did that because the tip of the original vine was drying out or something..but, NOPE! The original vine kept right on growing too! Love that hoya SO much!🤗❤
A lovely collection of Hoyas. Fairly new to houseplants and had not really been attracted to Hoyas, but having got my first one just over a week ago, I think I am hooked and now have three and looking for more! Have a lot to choose from so not in a hurry (yeah right!). Thanks for sharing them.
Thanks to your enthusiasm for your hoyas and the fact that you found a few of them at big box stores, I’ve also fallen for them Lol. After seeing your videos, I went on the hunt for what I could find!! I don’t quite have as many as you do, but I love each one and they ALL are my favorite LOL. Thanks for taking us along on your plants adventures 🥰
I really like this mellisa channel .. to me cool eyes look .. because I can see green flowers and various types of green plants and flowers .. tips and also how to care is very useful as information on those who see it .. My curtisii is in a north window and thriving with lots of new growth all during the winter....I did have one years ago in south window that kept drying out and died pretty fast....so I recommend not as strong light....like in North window it does not dry out as fast it seems to do perfect! Love your hoya collection...I have three starters shipping out to me today! There are so many more I would like to collect as well! Hope all is well you look happy! And happy for you!
Thank you so much!! Happy to finally be settled on some. I love Hoyas! I had it getting south light before I moved so maybe it didn’t like it! I have north light I can definitely put it in but it’s getting a grow light right now and doing okay so far. Yay!! Love new plants!! I need some plant mail! It’s been awhile! Haha 😆
Hey Melissa, just wanted to let you know that Hoya Pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' is identified by the blooms! Many Pubicalyx come in with very deep purple leaves, so the only way to know for sure about the ID of yours is to wait for it to bloom.
I love your collection! The Krimson queen tend to have that leaf shape😊 I’m pretty sure there’s no such thing as a variegated chelsea, but I’m no expert!
@@plantsbymelissa I think it is a carnosa cultivar. Carnosa cv. snowball. It has the round leaves like the chelsea. It was cultivated to make a stronger krimson queen that was suppose to produce less of the white leaves.
The second "Krimson Queen" looks like a Hoya Snowball. They have more of a heart shaped leave than a regular Krimson Queen and they are slower growing and the leaves are a little thicker. Just because of the Chelsea shaped leaves, variegation, and slower growth I'm thinking it's a Hoya Snowball.
Beautiful! my first hoya was a krimson queen and I loved her so much I got a princess and I ordered a tiny australis lisa online and now this little Hoya Bella I told myself I didnt want too many hoya with small leaves but i was wrong hoya Bella is defiantly my favorite at the moment just dont tell my other hoyas that xD my collection is small and new but I cant wait to see it grow :)
😂😂 I really want a Hoya Bella! I see others and they’re so beautiful! I’d I ever come across one I’ll definitely buy it! The krimson ones are definitely great Hoyas to own! 🥰
Lovely collection 🥰 my favourite of my collection is my Heuschkeliana Variegata, they are quite addictive and at last count I have 35 😳 and I still have a few more on my wish list
So hard to pick a favorite hoya, but I'm loving my Hoya Mathilde and Khroniana Super Silver right now. Both have cute, small leaves and are very easy to care for. My first bloom is on the Khroniana and it smells wonderful. The scent reminds me of jasmine❤
Oh yes!! I have been wanting a Mathilda for awhile! I might have to get one this year!! The khroniana looks so pretty too!! Adding that one as well! Thank you!! 🥰🙏🏼
You have a beautiful collection of hoyas! I love kerrii the most and I have the regular green one and the variegated one. The kerrii splash is so beautiful and I hope to have that one in my collection as well one day ❤️
@@plantsbymelissa I find that the Kerrii takes a long time to start to grow but once it starts it grows steadily. I have to in my collection and I love them both
Once my baby Hoyas grow I’ll have to chop and swap with you! I’ll have to send you a list of the ones I have. I think since this video you’ve gotten more? Like your lacunosa?
Thank you!!! It’s from Amazon!! I glued two together haha I bought the set of 3. I should have them linked in the description if you wanted to look at them! 🤗🥰
Thank you!! They’re definitely plants that you can forget about sometimes lol they can handle a big of neglect and they can thrive on that. I love them more because it’s nice it have plants in your collection that aren’t so picky and it’s so special when they bloom! I linked some trellis in the description! I get them off Amazon! 😁
When you said you repotted your krimson princess, did you remove the original Costa Farms Coco peat dirt or did you simply put it in a bigger pot and put new soil around the original dirt? I have a krimson princess that I've had for a year now and I'm not sure what to do with her
I did yes, I wanted it in a chunkier mix so I removed most of what I could 😁 I let it stay in the original mix for a good year or so and decided to repot last summer and it grew a lot after I repotted! 🥰
I was especially interested because I just potted up my first hoya, hoya carnosa Krinkle 8, which I propagated from cuttings. I love the wrinkly texture of the leaves! I enjoyed seeing all the different varieties you have. I hope to get a Hindu rope sometime, too.
Do you have any of your Hoyas in pon? I have mine in Lechuza Pon and they grow like crazy! My curtisii went from a 4 inch pot to an 8-inch hanging basket in a year.
