On 8th January 2007, I made my first ever Countdown appearance when I was 11 years old. Hope you enjoy the video! Here is my blog post about my Countdown experience: wp.me/p4hUAj-EW
I'm with you. They bastardize all the good UK shows when they bring them over. We get "To Tell the Truth" which sucks, and the US version of "The IT Crowd" was the worst piece of shit ever, felt bad for Ayoade for having to do it. Even the US version of Taskmaster was garbage because Lisa Lampinelli used it as a showcase for her new woke garbage comedy and abused Alex.
@@Delivery_Boy_Roy I'll have to check it out. I knew they eventually had to get something right. If they try to remake "Not Going Out" that's where I draw the line.
Nice to have an episode posted by someone who has actually been on the program. This really is a great show. I wonder sometimes if it would work in my home country of Canada, because I would watch it a lot if it did air here.
Jon Emeigh there was an American version planned for 1990, but didn’t proceed after the pilot episode was filmed. wiki.apterous.org/Countdown_(American_game_show)
@@amywilson5513 Wow that is such a shame. Though with it being butchered so much I doubt it would have done well. Though hopefully another pilot will be produced sometime soon that will more faithful to the original.
@@jonemeigh5588 unfortunately I agree. Gameshows in the US are so fast-paced, but I love how the UK gameshows are almost a mix of gameshow and talkshow!
Am I the only one that noticed Carol introduced Martin a the velvet-voiced VICEROY himself, and then he got VICEROY in the penultimate letters game!? He didn't seem to notice.
I just discovered Countdown a few days ago, through comments on 8/10 Cats, which I just started watching two weeks ago, during Covid-19 quarantine, still happening at my home. I'm so grateful for something to keep my mind sharp in these tough times. Congratulations on your performance, and having fun with your brain. I had brain damage for around 17 years, and am really enjoying the maths problems, and now, I'm finding 7 and 8 letter words, up from my usual 3-4. It's been a wonder. I'll never be able to do it in 30 seconds consistently, but I'm getting better all the time. I really enjoyed watching. Thanks for posting!
i have watched countdown for so many years and still do today quite good at getting the numbers went to watch it been filmed in 2014 when Nick Hewer was the host
NOW IT'S BEEN A DECADE! This is episode 4412 as of Thursday 9th August 2007 in Series 56 & the original episode 4267 was as of the 2nd quarter-final in the Champions of Champions XII.
In the round before the first numbers game, nobody caught "designer" for 8. I'm always a little smug when I get a word that the contestants and Susie miss, but I also know if I were ever actually on countdown I would lose so badly.
Also, I know you were 11 in this, but is it weird that he kept calling you "good boy" like a dog? Maybe it's a UK/US thing, cuz on this side of the pond I'd be super offended.
Are they actually finding the words? I have always assumed a computer finds them and feeds the answers to them and they pretend to have found them. I'm genuinely shocked.
I feel like 2007 was just a couple of years back and then I realise it’s 11 years ago. Crazy how different the world is... just think the iPhone or even proper smartphones only just came out in 2007 or maybe even 2008. Why is time going sooo fast!!
Because we are getting older, my friend. And the older we get, the faster time seems simply because we had a lot of it. Personally, I still think the 90's was a decade ago. >_
I noticed the same. The dress looked very tight indeed; Carol continuously rested on one leg. I felt sorry for her. But perhaps she always did - I just started watching Countdown.
10 Years To The DaY..... Well Done Lad. Remember WaTchinG You On CounTdoWn In The WormHolT Shepherd's Bush. January The 8TH Is ELVis PreSleY And DaVid BoWies BirThdaYs. Bless Their Souls...
Funny that the first word you worked out was 'Honkers': not sure whether you knew this (you've probably seen it by now), but the first word ever picked on Calendar Countdown was 'Honks'. There's a bit of a link to the past for you.
What the Dickens is Carol Vorderman up to around the 11-minute mark? Seems to be signalling something to the director via the cameraman, but it looks a bit weird and for some reason they cut it in (possibly it was recorded live?).
I think a family member would have recorded it, due to the programme promotions over the credits - a clean version from Channel 4 wouldn't have included this.
Does my solution get me 247? First sum: 25 plus 1 equals 26. Take away 7 and 7 fewer than 26 equals 19. The total of 10 add 3 equals 13. Final step: Multiply 19 and 13 equals 247. 25 + 1 - 7 × (10 + 3)
