A lot of comments asking about the certificate name. I took 'Database Management Certificate' at University of Washington. It's listed on my LinkedIn too. That being said, the reason I omitted the in the first place from the video because there was a lot of self-learning outside of the certificate program which helped me. Additionally, my resume did not have this certificate mentioned when I got my first job at big tech. Hopefully the additional context is helpful as I wouldn't want anyone to blindly jump into a certificate thinking it's the primary reason I got hired. Hope you are having a beautiful day!

Yo! Thanks for the video. Your story was very inspiring. Makes us newbies relate to an expert in the field. Your story gave me comfort in the switch I made to the data world. I’m literally as green as it gets (2 weeks in) but your story made me visualize a future where I could exist in the data realm, so for that you have my most respect and gratitude. I found you on a random video where you were being interviewed by another front end programmer who was previously a model I think. I don’t know I forget her name. She was sweet and awesome too. Hi Sundas. You mentioned you spent quite some time learning Python and R at some point [9:27] from colleagues. Any advice for how to approach that if (as is in my case) you current working environment doesn't expose you to people who can help you advance? Would you recommend self-learning as an option or it is better to have a more structured instruction via university courses? Perhaps also on-line learning platforms? What is your opinion on those?

Thanks Sundas for sharing your story. You don't have to share the personal details on the gap if you don't want to. Mad respect! The gap wasn't a waste because that made you who you're today. I think most people may think it's too late to pursue date science later in life. They might think that they did a few jobs in their early 20s and their lives are ruined... Your story is a good testament that it's never too late to pursue data science!

Hey I wonder how did you get into business right after college? I am at this stage and most of them requires work experience. Ps. I am thinking about getting a MS in data analytics or web development. I totally feel that just with a bachelor’s degree is NOT enough to find good internships

I went back to University after 28 years. I completed Bachelor of Commerce/Accounting in 1992 and worked in tax/accounting space for 20 years. Started post graduate Certificate in Data Analytics in 2020 when I lost my taxation job to begin a new Data Analytics career. Now I’m doing Masters in Data Science and working full time as a Data Analyst in one of Big 4. I want to work in Data Engineering | Data Science space but want to get affluent in Python and R. Need some guidance on what projects I can do to enhance my Python skills. At my current work they do everything in Excel or SQL

Hey sundas, i am from tech background ( btech in computer science) had worked in data science project in college. However i came to canada and did a business course here . While i choosing my course for canada i thought this is an easy course and I can get permanent residency easily. Now after being graduating from business school this fall, I am again inclining towards computer science as tech is the future. I feel like my confusion in finding what i want is a big issue. Have you ever been confused in your career? Is it ok to be confused?

Hey, I'm currently doing my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I later realized that I'm much more inclined towards data science and data analytics. I've already started doing certifications from outside. After completing my bachelor's, I am going to do Diploma in Big Data Analytics, so that I learn more about what I love. So because i come from a non tech background as well, you really opened my eyes and now i think that i can make it as well. Thank you!

@@marvelmad7 hey bud. I'm not so sure about that. But, Data Science accepts everyone. I ended up doing a Post Grad Diploma in Data Science and AI. Most of them were from a science background. I also made some friends who were from a Medical background. So to answer your question, MSC Biotech Graduates may have to do a similar course first and then they can be selected for a data scientist job. I would suggest doing online courses, diploma certification, etc to show your background. Hope this helped.

I recently completed the Google Data Analytics course. But after I completed it, I began to feel a little lost. I don't feel I a ready to apply to jobs.
